I don't care where they went to school, my sole concern is how they contribute to the Panthers.

I'm a huge UNC fan, but my love for Hurst has nothing to do with that.

 

Just a general point. Most of our threads every offseason leading up to the draft are as thus:

 

What about (position of need) (player name) from (South Carolina, UNC or Appalachian State)?

 

Thread contents: (player name if from USC or UNC) had some big numbers and he's got good measurables, why not go for him in the (low number) round?

 

Thread contents: (player name if from Appalachian) would be a good choice to take a late-round flier on, he did really well against (D-I team that throttled Appalachian).

I hate that because steve smith was our all time best wide receiver that all reporters think we need a replacement that fits the same physical attributes. "Well steve smith was great for them so of course they want every receiver that is 5'9 and has a fiery attitude. "

The reason I bring his name up is not because he played for a university in the Carolina's, but he is the poor man's version of bradin cooks. I know a lot of people are high on cooks and would like to see us draft him in the first round, but after watching his performance against Oregon, and seeing all the dropped passes that he had I would feel more comfortable going OL in the first and picking up Ellington on day three.

Both have similar size and speed (cooks offical was 4.3 and Ellington's unofficial was 4.3 at the combine). I think either one could come in and help fill the Steve smith void, te big difference to me is one is a day one guy and the other is a late round guy(like smith) that would allow us to plug some holes on the OL first.

I agree with going oline 1st since the wr depth is there in the draft ..

      Great point.    I would lke to add that there is another QB on the roster who was terrible over the middle--Kenny Pickett.

      I don't think this is the year for Carolina, unfortunately.  I think they will have to make a decision on the QB position-all we know is that Bryce has year 5, but a long term deal has not been signed--yet--and they would be smart to take a "wait and see" approach.  I have not kept up, and I see a path to upside for Bryce, but I do not think we have aggressively pursued a QB when our QB was mediocre to worse than mediocre.  yes, his numbers are improving--but he has adapted by eliminating what he does poorly and not improving on what he does poorly.  Just my take and I have no data to support this view.   Basically, we go as Bryce goes, so the approach is not to bring in a QB to have him compete until we find one, but it is to make Bryce as good as he can be--is that good enough? Season ticket holders buy the hope of winning rings, not winning 8 games. Last year, Bryce had a resurgence.  Take away TMac and Rico Dowdle.  How good was he?  I still have hope.  Not a hater of plan A, but a hater because we have no plan B.

      Yeah man, I've been here for a very very long time. Couldn't even begin to tell you what year. Maybe 2004 or 5? I've never really been super active, just enjoy reading everyone's opinions and discussions. I'll chime in from time to time. I have had a few different accounts over the years. It's always been a fun place for me to check in on my favorite team. Hopefully we can keep the place running for a long while still. I also would like to recommend bringing back the Lovely Ladies page!
