"It's tough to hold them accountable for the fact that they have no money.

Let's give em a C"

In all fairness a "C" translates to "average".

I don't know that anyone could be upset with this offseason being considered average to what the rest of the league is doing.  Most here act like this offseason should be considered an act of treason and at the very least someone should have already been put to death.

"Average" is relative

It's not average if our C- is one of the five lowest grades ESPN gave out because they applaud big contracts to get ratings since they have millions of viewers that live vicariously through more talented/infinitely richer people to pander to

I agree with G and J that Hardy wants a long term deal but as Madhatter said, he did say he would play under the tag. Essentially if he doesn't agree to a long term deal he could very well be tagged again next year for roughly 15.4 million  which is a lot of money but honestly if CJ is gone next year we will save 11 million of that amount to pay Hardy which is doable.  I think he wants to sign a long term deal but honestly there is no pressure from either side until June at the earliest.  If we don't trade him at the draft then he will be here one way or the other.  I expect him to sign a long term deal sometime in May or June.  But then again Hardy doesn't appear to think like many players in this league so who knows.

Guaranteed money is just that....guaranteed! Base Salary is paid out for being on the final roster

Guaranteed money can be paid out at different times such as guaranteeing future salary which isn't paid out until the first game of that season and each game thereafter.  Signing bonuses are paid up front and are part of the guaranteed money.  And as you say it could be whatever amount is negotiated.

Let's not complicate this for the peeps.....lol. Signing bonus is what I refer to when I say guaranteed! Either way, only an idiot plays under the tag if a fair offer with a healthy signing bonus is on the table. Too much to lose

That makes no sense then. If they did that then they just arbitrarily assigned letters to teams. No harm no foul. Just filler for the airwaves.

You're the only one that seems confused on what garunteed money entails.. If hardy signs a long term deal he will earn less in 2014 than currently projected
