Only way it would work is a hard cap of like 150m, lower max contracts, limit rookie contracts, etc which players will never go for.
-
They are really trying to make this so much worse than the NFL Draft.
-
This is so hard to watch. Omfg so boring and unnecessarily long.

Sure Bryce will have good and bad games but why think he will come out looking like week 1 and 2 last year versus him picking up where he left off? You could see the progression when he was put back in. He was throwing on time anticipating where the receiver will be instead of holding the ball. Instead of backing up he climbed the pocket and began running and throwing for big gains. Those are now in his repertoire when he needs them. The game has slowed down. He is confident and having fun like he did in college. And he has the same coach with a better cast to expand on what he did last year. Frankly I expect him to be better than last year.

Sure who needs the leading Canes goal scorer in the 2025 playoffs with 8 goals. smh

Source?

Rumors going around right now that the Canes are shopping Svechnikov. They also are trying to move the first round pick either back in the draft or in a bigger move. Additionally the Canes appear to be the front runners for Ehlers

Let's keep it real here. That man did not look or sound like someone thrilled to be drafted to the Utah Jazz.
-
LT had 8 straight seasons of an average of 1100-1800 rushing yards and 126 touchdowns and missed one game in that timespan. If you want to quote me and strut around in your Christian McCaffrey PJ's by all means do your thing bud.

There would be like 10 teams that got all the top flight players. Carolina would be an actual G league team.

That would be interesting but I would definitely want them to go to a hard cap if they went that route. And if they ever got rid of the draft completely, boy if you think the Hornets are fugged now…
-
Man they are dragging this draft out for tv with all these talking heads. Gonna be hours before the Canes pick at this rate.

Well everybody and their momma thought he sounded bought in when he was interviewed post-draft, which was when I posted. All that other stuff you mentioned just came out and I made that post a day and a half ago the morning after he was drafted when he sounded pretty bought in. The Jazz say there’s no problems atp, so we’ll see. But yeah obviously if his actions don’t match up with his words it will be a shitty look.

All fine and good, but know what you're disagreeing with. You can't disagree with facts, and it is a fact that McCaffrey's yards-per-carry and yards-per-catch averages are higher than Tomlinson's. You can agree or disagree about the importance of that fact in light of different parameters or contexts, but the facts as of June 27, 2025 on their career averages in that regard aren't changing.

I'd be surprised if they made the draft pick, I'm honestly expecting it to get traded.
-
Agree to disagree.

Just about every mock I've seen has us taking Cullen Potter which wouldnt shock me he's very much a Canes type prospects smaller fastest skater in the draft playmaker skills
-
And pesce a late and lots others tbh Heck Morgan Geekie who was our 3rd rounder is now a 30 goal center man... Canes are very good at identifying talent.... That said given you almost never see NHL talent immediately there isnt much hype with the draft.

He's reporting to the team tomorrow with his family and the press conference is set for Sunday.

It simply depends on perspective. CMC, when healthy and on the field, has a higher YPC and YPR than LT. Yes, he's been injury prone, but this is simply a "all quarter-century team." There are certainly different stats and different lists. If this were a list or about a team simply based on longevity, then of course LT wins that every time, but some lists are more subjective and nuanced depending upon what they are, and it's not necessarily a reflection upon a person's ability to analyze sports.

From my what I have seen the overwhelming majority of people who are considering the notion a possibility don't really want to see it happen but are considering so for a number of reasons. Most importantly availability. Secondly even when he plays the last few seasons he has been red hot or ice cold. Then there is the subject of his defense which to say the least leaves a lot to be desired. Then there is the image of Ball inactive laughing it up on the sideline (while our team was getting the doors blown off) with previous busts who are now relegated to hanging on by a thread in the g league. I think we should be able to recognize with the team going out of their way to put a very strong emphasis on culture and leadership with the conclusion of this years draft that they expect LaMelo to lead the way this upcoming season and that begins with making significant strides and trending in a positive direction in the aforementioned aspects above. It just has to happen.
