  1. Past hour
  2. I’m just not seeing it. Falcons are better than the previous two teams we faced and the Panthers unlike most teams do not really play better at home than on the road
  3. I don’t know about this one. Looking at his touches in week 2, there are still 3 plays I can find where he had an easy 2-3 yards upfield and somehow turned it to a race to the sideline for no gain or negative yardage. He was putting us in 2nd and 11 vs 2nd and 7. It doesn’t seem like much, but an NFL WR has to know to get upfield. You will break one eventually.
  4. Despite what reports say, I still think Tepper is influencing football decisions. We certainly heard about this during the Reich short era...ie - the Monday morning meetings. There are too many consistent inconsistencies still going on to not think he is still too much involved. New coaches, new GMs....same results. The offense looks the same under Canales as it did under Rhule, Brown and Reich. The only time the offense has looked different was when Wilkes moved to a power run game for 6-7 games. But it was clear Wilkes would not have wanted BY....probably a big reason why he was not retained. The defense was actually better under Snow but he had better players and it was not a great defense. But the defense has gotten much worse as they lost key players (Luvu, Chinn, Burns & etc) but did not replace them with even average talent. The defense was never really strong since the 3-4 defense was pushed on Rivera by Tepper. I think Tepper pushed for BY too. Now Canales is stuck with a QB that does not fit his system. The last 7-years of Panthers football can be traced back to when Tepper bought the team.
  5. I mean, it's an old school offense in reality. You got to find players to make plays. The O isn't just going to create it with just anyone. I didn't say we needed a game breaking WR. We literally just need players that can push and hope to create some YAC because Bryce isn't' going to stress a D deep enough (which has fugged up the O every season he has played including Franks) AT and Renfrow included don't offer YAC at the slot. That's not what either are. Slot is the easiest place to get some. Obviously, I don't want my dude Renfrow benched. He has a purpose. But the Panthers need to start searching for solutions. We got zero real quickness on the field. And hell, I don't even know if Horn really offers it because the Panther preseasons tell you virtually nothing about dudes
  6. The QB is basically the engine of an offensive machine and we have a lawnmower engine in a dump truck. Ain't no tuning your way out of that lack of horsepower.
  7. Great, so not only is he short he’s also illiterate
  8. I was never a WR or RB so I dont know the answer to this question, but could it be a speed on the ball thing? I remember Cam used to throw a rocket even on a short pass and guys had difficulty catching it because the pass was too hard. Bryce doesn't appear to throw as hard as most QBs to me, again, never played the position so I'm not sure. I've wondered if it doesn't feel right hitting the hands. Maybe too soft a pass and it doesn't snug up into the hands for a good grip like a harder pass would. Just a thought.
  9. I think the game breaker WR is a bit overrated. Not that they don't have value but a finely tuned offense will produce open players and big plays without the need for a Ted Ginn Jr. The tuning on this offensive machine is anything but fine.
  10. I think Bryce taps out after getting sacked a hundred times this weekend.
  11. It's just hard when the entire opposing D is within 10 yards of the LOS every snap because they're not afraid of the QB beating them deep. Defenses are focusing on taking away the run and the short to intermediate passing game. Bryce plays well when we're trailing big and the opposing D starts playing soft allowing for the short to intermediate passing game to be implemented but when they have their ears pinned back executing their game plan we basically can't move the ball.
  12. I really hope OP is right but I've been down this road before.
  13. Suck at talent evaluation is an understatement. How our scouting department has a job is baffling. These guys must listen to Mel Kiper Jr. and all the other draft gurus. It's the only explanation for being wrong this often. Plus no one has a feel for the draft. We're always on the end of the run instead of the beginning, making panic picks or picks that make no sense from the beginning. We draft RAS scores instead of guys to fit a system. Then it's just throw poo at the wall.and see what sticks. Everyone jokes about being better than the Panthers' GM, but for the last 5 years, that's been a low bar to step over. I want to be wrong about the guys we draft and how we go about FA, but since Tepper got this team, it seems like all of us Huddlers are right about how wrong our FO, scouts and coaching are way to fugging much.
  14. Panthers desperately need someone they can rotate in that got real speed to hopefully turn some underneath stuff into bigger plays. Renfrow is great but he is just a chain mover. I do wish they would try to turn the slot into a 2 man show. Get Horn up for some light passing down work. But I get that's a lot of small bodies to have active game day that only do slot work.
  15. Yeah, Dave doesn't seem like a "muh scheme" type of coach where he wants plays drawn up for his QB to robotically go through a preprogrammed process. He seems like more the type of coach that just wants his scheme to produce opportunities for a QB to be a playmaker. It's a scheme you'd love to play in as a QB and it's the type of scheme that should work really well for the "point guard mentality" QB they tried to sell us on Bryce being and the type of QB he was at Alabama but at the NFL level all of those physical shortcomings that seemed plainly evident to many of us on the college field are showing up in a big way. Even with his bad decisions I honestly think a lot of it is that he's struggling to see the field. I don't mean that figuratively in that he's misreading the defense or missing open receivers, I mean that literally in that I think he's struggling to see the field over the lines of 6'4"+ huge men in front of him. Reich used to talk about creating throwing lanes for Bryce to see through and holy poo... if you need throwing lanes now you've massively shrunk your opportunities. Now you're trying to play QB through a picket fence. If you watched him play at Bama, you saw him routinely drop back 10-15 yards behind the LOS to gain depth so that he could see over the scrum. You just can't do that routinely in the NFL. NFL pass rushers are just too good. Your OTs can't create that deep of a pocket.
  16. This could be a breakout game for Kyle Pitts. I'm hoping for a miracle just so we have something to talk about besides the team sucking poo.
  17. I don't remember a 2018 tear down. I remember the failed 2019 failed build up of the 3-4 switch which is still stuck in the 'working on the foundation' stage. I thought 2020 was closer to that but really it was just an idiot behind the wheel doing what idiots do. Poor drafting and free agents is the main problem IMO. This team hits so little on talent it's actually amazing they don't stumble over more just by accident. I still don't think there is anything to tear down. Just a ton of easy to dump people that should happen. It's a bottom of the roster churn that reaches 2/3s the way up this roster.
  18. I am sure it may eat at him but if his response is to just basically not try, then I think this story is essentially over. The NFL is not for the weak. It's a tough slog to maintain a spot in this league
  19. 100% agree. A lineup of TMac, Coker and Renfrow might actually be an above average NFL WR corps for the first time in forever.
  20. I’d love for Bryce to actually try to call anyone out. Buckner was talking about thr 2001 team once and someone asked him if the defense was talking poo to the offense in between games. he laughed and said “we were last in offense and defense that year no one was talking poo to anyone.”
  21. Based on what everyone in house is saying, he cares a lot and gets really down on himself. I don't think it's lack of effort, I think he's overthinking everything and playing with no instinct or physicality at all.
  22. in fairness, Saunders didn't block his guy on the handoff and Bryce didn't sell the quick screen at all. The one DE you are supposed to fool immediately sprints to attack XL.
  23. I was just thinking back to the 2nd season of the Rhule disaster. The Panthers went 3-0 to start the season, and Fitterererer, and Rhule starting trading for players 'to make a playoff run'. LOL. They ended up winning 2 more games the rest of the year and finished with a 5-11 record. I don't know why that just popped in my head. Maybe because that was the last time the Panthers had a winning record.
  24. You gotta do something. I mean, we have a starting WR doing nothing. And yeah, a lot of the balls coming his way are pretty much uncatchable but you gotta try something different. Maybe it's unpolished route running, maybe it's an inability to make contested catches, maybe it's a chemistry issue. I don't know what it is but we're getting virtually zero production out of a starting WR.
  25. Sometimes it feels like that is part of the draft process and evaluation of prospects for this team. A guy like Bryce won't poo on this team publicly and will always say the right thing. That's why they wanted him
  26. Legette and luxury have no business in the same sentence with each other.
