Where do you fall on the Bryce Young spectrum?
CRA replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
I mean, I don’t have to explain Brett Favre and Teddy Bridgewater were doing drastically different things with the football. If someone doesn’t want to acknowledge that, no one convince them to see it Same with Bryce and basically every QB you named. Bryce and Cam Newton flat out shouldn't be judged by just cherry picking a random stat. Convo is broader. They played the position nothing alike. You can also take completion % as another example. Bryce’s should be drastically higher than a Cam in terms of completion % because of how they go about the pass game (pre injury Cam). every QB you named was aggressive with the ball (we ain’t talking ancient Brees here). Bryce isn’t. Not pulling numbers if you refuse to accept basics. -
Hey You, You Don't Know Quarterbacking

You can see a lot of outrageous takes on game days. Most get lost in the back and forth between the usual suspects. I try not to feed that beast. -
They're all protypical qbs. Especially compared to Young.

Hey You, You Don't Know Quarterbacking

Really? You have the winningest QB of all time in Brady, who we all can acknowledge was never an imposing physical specimen, and the Manning brothers (dad bod extraordinaires), the short kings in Drew Brees and Russell Wilson, the immensely talented arm of Rodgers, the unconventional mobility-driven Mahomes, the sturdy Roethlisberger, the gunslinger in Stafford, and then Flacco, Foles, and now Hurts. None of them are direct clones of anyone else, and they all have their various strengths and weaknesses, and the most talented arm of the bunch (Rodgers) has only one chip to show for it. Brady racked them up by playing with precision, anticipation, and the literal definition of "good-enough" physical tools, with a hindrance of a lack of mobility and heavy reliance on either good protection or players that can consistently win in short routes to succeed and overcome it. We all can see Mahomes weaknesses play out now that the Chiefs are boom and bust playstyle devolves more consistently to bust without the plethora of deep threats and running game to allow Mahomes to thrive. Some of the most physically dominant players in the league today (Allen and Jackson) just can't seem to close the deal come playoffs, so once again the correlation between physical tools and actually being a championship team is not as strong as people think. -

Forgot about that dude. Pretty sure he hated Cam more than Cowherd. -
Oh sure, and this is obviously a loss for the defense overall. But it's not like we're losing someone Brown where it's a massive downgrade to replace him. There's even a very valid argument to make that with increased snaps, Scourton and/or Princely could end up playing better in a few weeks than Jones would have been playing himself. Sometimes players just step up their game to a new level when given more of an opportunity.

The Bryce Young "Game Winning Drive" narrative needs to end

People can’t just be happy we’re on a two game win streak, they have to trash Bryce because it makes them feel good. -

I mean, I understand his teammates publicly support him. He genuinely seems like a good person, for sure. That is not what makes a successful NFL QB, unfortunately. -
It comes from this board. Nobody claimed you said it.

Something new to argue vehemently about.

Well Jon Snow says in another thread he has seen it. So I will apologize for calling you out. but at the same time you should know that the guys in these daily threads are not saying that stuff. Because we are not. There were long arguments about a 20 yard pass being a deep ball. but no one in those threads claimed he couldn’t throw it twenty yards. The distance stuff starts to come in at twice that distance. And Hail Marys and such. -
Where do you fall on the Bryce Young spectrum?

Well if Mahomes is the standard to measure by, then 90% of the QB's in the NFL are failures. I'll gladly post all the data for you later this evening. I've been looking for an excuse to throw them up here -

I dont care about my argument I care about the accuracy of what you are trying to do. You cannot take 2 separate data sets and compare them as one. It doesnt work like that. If you have the data lay it out let us decide. I mean for fugs sake why not throw in Mahomes 3rd year for shits and giggles? -

I focused on the TO's because the guy said he had too many turnovers. If you had read that, you would have understood the point I was making. And as far as TO's, I included Ints and fumbles measured against drop backs. Felt that wa the fairest way to look at it. Looking at just Int's, he looks even better. -

I have all that data ( yards, atts, tds, fumbles, ypa, ypa, etc) and would be glad to post it all but I can assure you it will not help your arguement -
Thank you for speaking up. I can’t see how anyone would take that to be serious. It is one of those exaggerations for effect I guess. I forget sometimes how people do when the are desperate to make a point. So you guys and your 5 yards and 25 yard claims, I apologize but also maybe you should consider the source on some of these things.

mrcompletely11 replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yes, that is exactly what you should have done dude, exactly. If its too hard then fuging dont go the cheap way out trying to make a point. Also why focus on simply to's, look at everything in context and let the posters make the correlation. I mean the data is there and if you are trying to skew it to make a point I will say again that is just elementary. Also look at the timing of the turnovers. I mean context is everything. And saying Bryce doesnt have an issue with them is fuging funny -
Evero does some head scratching things but gotta give credit here where due

Nobody needed to throw against us last year. Not hard to believe our defense last year was just that bad all around. This year teams are forced to throw because of improved rush defense coupled with poor pass rush. Just makes sense to attack our weaknesses.

Where do you fall on the Bryce Young spectrum?
cranky replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's not cherry picking. Its going back 17 games and comparing it to second years for the others. I guess I could have gone into everyones 3rd season and starting from game 6 going back but that's too much work given it wouldn't change the results that much. And as far as starting from now, it's because that's where we are. I could care less about his first year. -
That checks with everything I've seen so far.
-
I get the feeling they are going from having the worst rush defense in history last season to having the worst pass defense this year
