I honestly think they are going to stick with Bryce. It's year 3 for him. He shouldn't need any motivation. He's either got it or he ain't. We are going to ride him to a top 3 pick and send his ass packing
-
When does he play well? Asking for a friend
-
I mean he would have to fully have his head up his ass to not see how limited his offense is and yeah that run play on 3rd down was as obvious of a public signal as it gets. It's honestly crazy how much we have normalized our 4th head coach in 4 years basically being forced to play a QB he had no part in drafting and instead inherited. Yes we did technically hire him to "fix" Bryce Young but wtf was he or anyone else going to do to change Bryce Young's size and lack of physical talent. And Bryce Young won't go anywhere near the weight room now three fuging offseasons in a row but we're trying to set an example for our roster by deactivating WR's and cutting players for performance issues. Regardless of if Canales pans out as a head coach the structure and process of this franchise is a complete and utter joke and that begins and ends with the Tepper's.
-
We're to the point that our only hope is horse poo luck. That Tepper hits on a scratch off lottery ticket that these third rate candidates that are willing to work for him are and that we fall backasswards into a QB. Hoping for organizational competency at this point just isn't logical. We just have to get really damn lucky.

New York Times: Is Panthers QB Bryce Young a Lost Cause
Candler Cat replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
we're going to be in the basement for some time to come -
zavala had a pass protection grade of 0 this past week before injury

I've said it numerous times but I honestly think we're to the point that we can't get anyone who has other comparable options or has reasonable expectations of being a top candidate within the next year or two and I honestly think the last GM and HC searches we conducted we conducted knowing that because it didn't seem like we even seriously pursued hotter candidates. I wouldn't be surprised if we touched base with agents and were basically told thanks but no thanks.

Former Panther Barno Arrested

Brandon smith, super athletic with great size but couldn't diagnose offense and had no instint whatsoever sounds kinda familiar -
This Tep rep is a serious consideration. We had to take a guy who we knew wasn’t ready. One year as OC. You can him you may not get bottom of the barrel you may have to settle for what’s on the floor near the barrel

Pretty good chance of this.

Well as a fanbase we have to reconcile with the reality that after the debacle that was giving full control and generational wealth to Matt Rhule which ended comically bad. Morgan now and Fitterer before him have been largely figureheads and the Tepper's have been pushing and steering the overall agenda. As such. Salvaging the trade and selection of Bryce Young has been the #1 goal because they wanted him and they do not want to admit they made a catastrophic mistake. This is why we have made basically no changes to the scouting staff in many years and instead we've pivoted to hiring and putting resources into analytics and PFF. Unfortunately even if we fire Morgan no GM worth his salt is going to take a job here knowing he has to be a sycophant to and take orders from the Tepper's. -
Okay you can’t be in my front office lol. That got us Bryce. Who would we have missed out on if we said minimum 6’ 200lb to make the cut? Murray? Like Parcels said, he better walk on water at that size. I mean I always thought Mike Glennon was just too tall lol. But out of full disclosure, footwork and arm should have excluded Bryce from serious high pick consideration at any size Keep in mind I do not exclude them on day 2 or 3.
-
I really, really think Dave is being forced to play Bryce. He yanked him way earlier last season for this exact same level of play. I also think the 3rd down run calls were making a point bc he has to play him.
-
I was thinking about the LB from Penn St we drafted a few years ago, I think under Rhule with some of these posts. And boy, I thought, Penn St? LB? Crazy high RAS? This dude is gonna be a problem. And he was straight trash.

.why do the Panthers always seem to have such a difficult time properly evaluating talent ? if you have a player who has started since 2023 & in that time have amassed a mountain of film for reference & also seen on a regular basis in practice.then yes most defenitely going into year 3 you should have a pretty good idea of what you have in a player .if not, then being an NFL GM might not be your actual cup of tea i cant help but think about other teams in similar situations like the Colts w/ AR & Daniels or the 49ers w/ Trey Lance & Brock Purdy yes Bryce Young is a bust & water is wet period.however , my main concern moving forward is your going to asks this same GM to either draft a Qb or sign one in FA or make another trade.i sure hope not ..just saying -

I mean, it's predictable. You have an owner who has churned through 7 head coaches in as many years and we look as bad as ever on the field. Seems like folks are going into self preservation mode without the realization that going at each other in the press is an absolutely fuging terrible look that will probably be considered regarding future roles when they inevitably end up getting fired. If I'm their agent I'm advising them to be aware of who they're working for. Any day in the office could be the day this guy throws a fit and rage fires you. Don't sabotage your future opportunities trying to salvage this one. -

the only thing he's elevated is our draft position -
Watch him go down the first series. Snake bit team. Zavala wasn’t looking too bad.

Someone poached US? Moving’ on up, to the east side….

He only seems to look good when he doesn’t play scared and the supporting cast is playing lights out. Which is too big of an ask at the NFL level. Individual matchups are won and lost every single play. #1 pick should be elevating the team -
With the 1st Pick in the 2026 Draft....

Nah, I can't just dismiss based on "needs to meet X measurables." I wouldn't want to do that per se. -
Texans have signed offensive lineman Jarrett Kingston to their active roster from the Panthers practice squad.
-
I could just imagine the conversation with his agent... "Listen Dave (Tepper), you've been firing coaches left and right. There's a lot of hesitation out there in the coaching ranks that they're not gonna be given a fair shot here either in leeway or in the type of control that these roles generally entail within the organization. For my guy to seriously consider this job you're going to have to at least show long-term commitment in the contract. If you do what you've been doing and yank the rug after a year or two we need to be compensated for the damage done to my client's career track."

So much of football is about how quickly a player reads and reacts, especially on defense. You can run a 4.4 40, but if it takes you .15 seconds to process a play, you are far from special.
