I've read your other posts. That's not 100%. You're gambling that some FA is going to be our savior. We struck lightning once with Jake relieving Rodney Peete. Who's the next Jake? You don't know and neither do I. You're speculating. I want exactly who is going to be your savior. You probably can't pick one because every FA has flaws, which is why they aren't starting in this league.
-
Then you're not reading. I've said repeatedly that I'd sign a decent FA vet and I'd keep my options open in the draft. Guaranteed? There are no guarantees in life but seeing that Bryce is near the bottom of the league in virtually every QB metric and near the top of the league in every turnover metric it's a pretty fuging low bar to clear. What we can't do is just keep pretending that Bryce is a franchise QB. If Bryce had been a third round pick he would've gotten 3-4 starts and buried on the bench and might honestly be out of the league at this point. His draft status and the investment we made has carried him far enough. Now Rico is trying his ass off to keep carrying him but we have to evaluate the QB position like you evaluate any other position - on the merit of the individual play outside of the team's success or failure. Bryce is still playing like Bryce. The rest of the team has just dramatically improved.
-
I didn't write the metric. You can probably say every single QB that has a GWD under his belt was because of someone else. That doesn't fly with me. You want to nitpick that's your choice. Going by the metric he has 9 GWD. If you think is should change get with the NFL and get it changed but I am not going to say this guy gets credit but BY doesn't.

First of all the out was not caught because XL slipped and was the only person who could have caught that ball. I'm not sure where you get that it was almost intercepted but go ahead and believe your story. The kick was in the direction we wanted the ball from the opening kickoff. Do you think Fitzpatrick didn't try several kicks in that direction before the game and after half? Do you think we just winged it. Come on, OK so he missed one earlier. Kickers can't adjust. You make it sound like it was a wing and a pray. I saw the game. Yes and we still got 21 yard from the running game. We also got two first downs via that pass. So it isn't like it was 100% we were going to run. You have your blinders on and hate BY so much that you can't give him any credit because it defeats your narrative that he completely sucks. What I have yet to here is you 100% for sure solution. Which QB are you going to bring in that GUARANTEES that he'll be better than BY. See the difference between you and me is I understand that he isn't the greatest QB to play the game. But he has strengths and he continues to win whether you like it or not. You and I have been on this forum for many years and agreed and disagreed on many topics. I don't think I have ever seen you so filled with so much hatred for a player than BY. I'm just going to leave it here to agree to disagree because you aren't going to change my outlook and I definitely am not going to change yours. I do appreciate no personal attacks. Someone said it earlier. Ride with our game manager until a Mahomes falls into our laps.

Young QBs lead their teams to undefeated October

The key difference being expectation. Jake was basically an afterthought of a free agent signing. Bryce is a guy we mortgaged the franchise on to be THE GUY. Not to mention a different era of football before all the rule changes to benefit the passing game. I don't care how we win either. I just realize that the odds of continuing to win in today's NFL with this level of QB play are very low. If I knew for sure that the Panthers had already decided to pursue other options at QB this off-season I could breathe a sigh of relief but of course they're not going to say that publicly. -
Malik Willis, Will Levis and that backup kid on the Eagles. All would be better in Canales’ system and all would be better than Bryce. So there are 3 for you.

The same reason we celebrated game-winning drives from Jake Delhomme in 2003 with performances like: 96 yards, 2 INTs 181 yards, 1 TD 1 INT 148 yards, 0 TDs I do not give a crap how we win, I just want to win. And we're winning for the first time in a decade. -

It's a fact that both of the other kicks from similar range had been missed including the one from the Packers going in the same direction. Kicking a 50 yarder in the wind was deemed a better option than having Bryce throw again. That's not debatable. That's what we did. After Bryce threw a ball to an out route with an undercutting defender that could've potentially been picked that was it for throwing the ball. The forward pass was out of the playbook at that point. And honestly, that was the smart call. I'm not blaming Canales for that. We're playing the way we have to play with Bryce Young at QB. Canales is adapting well to that. Go back and watch that drive. The Packers were stacking the box every single play. They were trying to take away the run and the short passing game because they knew that's all we had. They were willing to give up 10 yard passes in the open field. They just didn't count on Rico ripping off a 19 yarder.

BOOM. Give me the boom tonight.

He's not trying to build a winner... yet. He's building a locker room. He's building a place where the players know they are part of a team and that they are valued. Now, if we all had a crystal ball and a genie with a wish, we could go back and have us a Tom Brady just waiting in the wings. But that was one team, one time. Not a viable strategy for building a team. Ask Belichick. He couldn't manufacture it again once the miracle moved on.

I got seriously ripped off...

What is your obsession with passing yards. We are a run first team. Ball control to minimize high powered offenses from getting too many chances. Rico does a great job of making it where we can pass as needed not winging it down the field. Is BY the greatest QB ever to play the game, not by a long shot, does he win games for us. By the Game winning drives criteria, he does. You can manipulate how many yards he threw for but the bottom line he's has now 9 GWD to his credit.
-
Close enough range? We'd already missed an XP earlier. The Packers had already missed a similar length FG earlier. The reality of the situation was that a fairly low percentage kicking opportunity given the conditions was a better bet than having Bryce throw another pass. We didn't trust him not to turn it over or not to take a sack. We'll just try a 50 yarder in the swirling wind when every other kick from this range today has been a miss.
