  1. Past hour
  2. I was sounding the alarm about Dalton earlier in the year when we signed him to an extension. He was horrendous against the Bears and the Commanders and was clearly done. Damn shame folks who were paid to see that couldn't or wouldn't for reasons. Anywho I agree the upcoming options for QB are not "ideal" but that's the hand we're dealt so we need to evaluate the options and choose the best ones that have the best upside. As far as the draft people have been saying "next year's QB class" for what seems like a long time now. You could be right you could be wrong. We just don't know. That should not however preclude us from shooting our shot. Identify the guy with the necessary measurables and arm talent that checks the most boxes select him and see what happens. That's all we can do.
  3. My preference was Wilks and Darnold and whoever we could pick at 9 and 40 or wherever we would have picked. Keeping DJ Moore. Talk about different. I mean the hang there is we would have kept Fitterer. And who was Wilks pulling in for his staff. But in the trade was made scenario and the coach was Reich, absolutely CJ was the right pick. He has the NFL throwing toolkit.
  4. And I forgot the upcoming Rhule factor, 2020. He did not want to deal with Cam I don’t think.
  5. And the great redemption of Sam Darnold (who was always better than Bryce at his worst) has featured him being on different 4 teams in the last 4 years. Folks wanting to hang on to the worst starting QB in the NFL because he might end up like Sam Darnold just speaks to how the bat isn’t just laying on the floor it’s buried in the sand
  6. Wild to think the different direction this franchise goes in if Stroud goes #1 overall. He has had his own struggles but has definitely looked like he belongs and he is far more like what Reich wanted in a QB. Ah well.
  7. Everything I heard at the time or remember was yeah Frank knew he wasn’t ready and Tepper insisted. Much friction resulted and of course we know who won that one That was a phantom injury week 3 2023 that got Dalton on the field, pretty sure, and that’s what it was about - Frank trying to field an NFL offense. People were and still are very unfair to him. He may not have been the brightest offensive innovator but he spent his life playing QB in the NFL and coaching them. Even though his head coaching record or chops may not have been A-1, he didn’t just go all idiot in 2023 all of a sudden.
  8. I am not sure why he would take less than he is owed just to get out though and again it doesnt solve any problem at all other then getting off of bryce. I am not sure who the answer is but I know its not him at 36 years old.
  9. I wish Reich had forced him to sit his entire rookie year but I think his hands were tied. Or he was so pissed he wanted to run everyone's nose in how BAD Bryce was... Because man...
  10. There's speculation he'll be on his way out in LV, which could enable a restructuring of contract. But I don't actually want Geno at all.
  11. We have the 13th pick right now and thats actually not a bad spot for 6 wins and second in the division. If we lose these last games to better teams as projected. We might get back in the top 10.
  12. I think so. The rub is, you cannot remake yourself down to that molecular type level of all your techniques and ways you do things, at the top level of your profession, on the fly. If at all. I made at least a dozen posts over the years explaining my thoughts on that issue. He would have had to have that stuff in order from day one. I think it would been a different story, completely. Or could have been. You can’t fix height or arm strength or foot speed or size, to any significant degree though and he should have never been drafted so high. Even with better technique. That was a horrible call on our part.
  13. He will be 36 next year with 2 years on his deal. 26 is manageable but in 2027 it jumps to 40 million per. I dont see how that is anywhere close to a solution.
  14. He’ll be gone. The SF game was his Waterloo.
  15. The FA WR class doesn’t move me at all. Pierce is going to get paid. He’d be a nice get but not for what I assume he’ll fetch For me it’s neck and neck. We have a non existent pass rush but we also have 0 pass catchers worth a damn outside of TMac and that includes the tight ends on this roster They’ll definitely have to draft either an edge or WR then sign/trade for the other
  16. Bryce in truly rare country. Best of all we likely replace him with Geno next year!
  17. At top pay scale, me too. I thought there was a way he could have made it work with his diminished physical tools but he would have needed to accept that he should probably be in a lower tier, contract wise. His ego. Tepper’s ego, the agent in the middle… didn’t work.
  18. Today
  19. Yeah it is a mixed, and mixed up, bag. I think removing the Bryce variable is the first step. If that happens and Canales is still doing counter intuitive things, take the next step. And that is why we don’t need a huge investment in QB in the draft - that may not be the best move. We need to be sure on Canales before doing that. We should get a vet or three in here.
  20. Dude.. that doesn't look far off.. And sure, Cam looks like he threw for slightly more yards.. if you watched him you could see him arm was broken... you cannot sign him to a new record breaking contract with that.
  21. And yet, you’re still here to remind us what the upper echelons of our fanbase look like… I guess.
  22. I never thought I would say this, but I dont think I want them to make the playoffs. I feel like if we make the playoffs we are stuck with Bryce again. Do playoffs teams typically part ways with QBs? I'm just so ready to move on, I'm willing to accept whatever it takes. I honestly dont care who our QB is next year. Just not Bryce Young.
  23. No one is making the argument that Cam was a better QB in every aspect than BY. BY's super power was supposed to be his decision making... and we can see how that has played out..
  24. Agree 100% Cam was a superstar that wasn't ready to acknowledge that he was no longer that. I don't even blame him for that. Cam could at least say he deserved to get paid cause of who he was. But glad the team didn't resign him.
  25. Please no Freddie.....please....
  26. Also, this is an NFL thread. We do have like 15 different Bryce Young/QB threads to choose from when it comes to the search for a new QB. Let's not completely derail this.
