Mike Kaye predicting we trade up in 2nd round
LinvilleGorge replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I could see us working the phones, especially if Rodriguez, Hill, and/or Allen go off the board early. Those three seem like they're cream of the crop LBs left and then there's Golday and after that there's a pretty steep drop off. Not to say there won't be some good players come put of that group because there will be but they'll be getting harder to identify at that point. -
NIL doesn’t hurt teams like Georgia or Ohio state because they’re legacy programs that have infinite money anyway with top tier staffs and it just let them pay players out in the open. it hurts teams like Clemson who no one really gives a poo about and has a moron head coach. And I guess every west coast team that isn’t Oregon.

Round 1: The Carolina Panthers select OT Monroe Freeling (Georgia)
MechaZain replied to rodeo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Phillips was a desperation plug for a dire need. The fact that we paid so much for a guy with his risks tells you all you need to know about how bad our pass rush and the market for that position is. -
ILB or true FS but I guess it depends on who makes it to our spot

If we are wanting ILB Hill, Allen, and JRod are still there so no need to rush things. S and NB are other options well with some nice targets. -
Round 1: The Carolina Panthers select OT Monroe Freeling (Georgia)

It's just so much fun watching all the people who are so anti "trenches-picks" get so butt hurt because we didn't draft a WR. -
I didn't know that was a thing. So far we have gotten them both a swing, bassinet, a playpen, and a stroller. Got their WIC started so now don't have to do $30 a can out of pocket which is a big relief. They will need cribs and high chairs eventually, more clothes and of course diapers. Trying to start saving for a roomier vehicle after we get them everything they need, as it stands now the whole family can't go out.

This draft isn't deep, so frankly package both 5ths to move up if you need to IMO to get your guy. -

I’m always a pro get your guy but I also think ILB is pretty deep we don’t need to force the issue. -
Rams fumbled bad. Star receiver in rehab, playoff team drafting a for sure benchwarmer. Coach was pissed, fans pissed, players probably too. I love Puka tho, real life Jonah from Tonga.

Round 1: The Carolina Panthers select OT Monroe Freeling (Georgia)

His interviews. Combine interview that went viral, scout rumors saying he's immature and individual team interviews were a disaster. Granted, maybe he's playing 4D Chess and trying to coax certain teams not to draft him, but weird none the less. -
There’s nothing gimmicky about Bobo’s offense. limited? Very idiotic? Yes child like? Oh yes but at the end of the day it’s just a dumbed down version of Kirby’s preferred murder ball and that’s fine if they have an actual qb for when they get to the playoffs and need to complete a forward pass. I think you’re a little harsh on freeling but mostly correct.

Give me a break. UGA has one of the most "gimmicky" offenses i've ever seen since their QB is very limited as a passer. The ball was out immediately on almost every pass. When UGA did the traditional 3 step drop, routes that take longer to develop etc, his pass blocking leaves a lot to be desired if you watch his film closely, which 99% of the posters loving the pick haven't done. That's fine if you haven't watch him play, but the people who have watched him play have the right to their opinion. Its a message board. He didn't go up against any great pass rushers. Average run blocker. There's a lot of unknowns with this kid that makes it a risky selection. He's truly a boom or bust prospect. Everyone on here assumes he's going to reach his ceiling when in reality that rarely happens with "potential" prospects.

I think McVay both wanted a player to try to help him win another one with Stafford AND was thinking.... oh great, already been down this road with Goff of a young QB who has everything you want in terms of intangibles but is basically "barely checks the box" level across the board in terms of physical tool set.

If Rodriguez is still there at around the 40 range, trade up for him. Otherwise take either the best S out of McNeil Warren, Genesis Smith, or AJ Haulcy.

and he predicted concepcion. This guy is a retard don't know poo. -
Think we need to fo ILB in the 2nd or we gonna miss out. I like Ramsey and Kilgore in the third, both can play fs/nickel
-
Another way to look at this pick is does it help the panthers score more points or help the defense to keep the other team from scoring points? That was my main concern with another WR or Sediq; there just aren’t that many more points to pick up in this offense with Bryce at qb at best (worst?), Freeling keeps the scoring capacity similar, and that only happens if your FA pick doesn’t pan out or Father Time catches up to Moton, but he’s not THAT old and has been healthy for most of his career so I don’t anticipate him just collapsing. I don’t know just draft CJ Allen tonight and I’ll quit complaining.

Gotta get in front of the Bucs

Monroe Freeling to the #Panthers Awesome to see GMs that have foresight. Ekwonu suffered a major knee injury, Taylor Moton will have the third highest cap number among RTs in 2027, and Rasheed Walker on a one-year deal. Good OTs are hard to find. Freeling has a ton of potential. https://x.com/jordan_reid/status/2047669880778875272?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA

Trade chart shows about ten points per slot moving up from 51. Out two 5ths total 56. So one would not really get us up even three slots. The 200 pick is worth very little but it could push the tw 5ths towards 60 points 6 slots. I agree Rodrigues will be gone even 6 slots ahead of us, much less three.
