Why is everyone focused on BY while the real problem is ignored

If you want the REAL problem, then look at my profile picture. Until he's gone, nothing is ever going to change. -
Why is everyone focused on BY while the real problem is ignored

Nobody is ignoring it. It’s just we’ve invested all our resources into drafting Young, finding him weapons, and signing offensive linemen. We’ve had one of the least talented defenses in the league and an offense who keeps giving the ball away or going 3 and out. Whether Evero is a good coach or not…. He’s certainly more capable than what he’s shown here. -

Huddler A: hey, this D stinks Huddler B : I mean, yeah, it does. I think people just agree. Weak talent, weak coach. It’s gonna be bad this year. Everything has been dumped into the O. And it’s bottom of the league. -

It wouldn't matter if we had the 85 Bears defense, Bryce is a former #1 overall pick who hasn't played playoff caliber football in his entire career, so yea, he's going to be the main discussion point. It's the NFL in 2025, if you don't have a QB, that is your real problem, no matter what other problems you have. -

You ask this question while just casually glossing over the fact that we are dedicating the highest amount of salary cap to the offensive line across the entire league and we are ahead of the 2nd and 3rd teams by a very significant amount. That is a huge contributing factor for why the defense is in the state that it's in. So complaining about the defense in a context of making excuses for the offense and specifically the QB is only going to result in people questioning your sincerity on the subject. -
A lookback at Morgan's first draft
SmokinwithWilly replied to R0CKnR0LLA's topic in Carolina Panthers
That's about all he did. Unfortunately there's that whole rest of the draft and roster building thing that he sucked at doing. If Hurney is the best we can do in 3 decades, that's not really something to brag about. -

I mean when you can't sustain drives and turn the ball over, you don't give your defense much of a chance -
I’m not here to say Bryce’s grade makes sense he made me physically ill with some of those decisions. Bryce completely screwed Renfrow. But they supposedly grade route running, run blocking, etc. Renfrow wasn’t great. But he had chances to make plays and didn’t. The passes didn’t do him any favors though and one almost got him killed. I do hate to say this but a real NFL tight end makes that catch most of the time. Now Ian Thomas, Chris Manhertz, Hayden Hurst, Tommy Tremble? What we are used to seeing? Yeah they might catch that ball 25-50% of the time lol

He's probably not. But Patterson wasn't either and he's still in the league as basically an offensive utility player relying primarily on athleticism and playmaking ability despite not really fitting in at any real position. -
Patterson was a great football player. Bad WR. We see that a lot on defense and at WR. XL can still be of value if we had a good staff.
-
Yea, when Coker comes back, I’d work on phasing XL out. You’re a bit more optimistic on him than I am. I don’t see him lasting long in this league at all. Sucks, because I like XL the person. Seems like a genuine guy, comes from the area my mother is from, just a likeable guy. He’s just not a WR, and I don’t think he can be one.
-
Allright let's blame him for all of the turnovers. Rico Dowdle doesn't deserve blame for that 2nd INT. He's a great player with a bigtime 40.9 pff grade. Legette is also great! 53.9. I'm not even mentionning our 2 game changing tight ends TEs.

Solid Breakdown of Bryce's Poor Performance/PFF Stuff

Seems like almost everyone here blames Young for the Panthers losses while completely ignoring the defense and its impact on their record. Last year, they gave up 32 points a game which means they had to, on average, score 33 to win. In fact, in their last two wins, the Panthers scored 36 and 44 and they still just barely won as the defense gave up 30 and 38. Having to score 33 points to win a game is untenable long term regardless who your QB is. I have no idea why Canales decided to bring him back but given it was his decision to bring him back, Canales fate may be more closely tied to him than Youngs.

You explain how Renfrow gets his grade in the what if the other guy actually did his job world of PFF? That ball to TE Saunders is a very difficult ball. Thats not a gimme that’s supposed to get logged like the XL foot down ball. It wasn’t a 50/50 im the sense 2 guys were going up for the same ball. It’s just a low % play. A TE gonna collect that type ball maybe half the time.

If Coker picks up where he left off last year he needs to quickly replace XL in the starting lineup. We might have need to use XL like the Vikings used Cordarelle Patterson. We may have drafted a great athlete who just isn't a WR. Okay, whatever. Don't cry about it. Just try to figure out how to best utilize him and understand that yeah, he's never gonna live up to 1st round billing. Again, whatever. Something is better than nothing. Try to figure it out. -
Disappointed in XL, too. He’s just not that good. Cant wait until Coker returns. Another wasted pick.

Are you talking about Jatavion Sanders? And his big fat drop on a “50/50” ball where Bryce put it in right in his hands? And the defender did not even get his head around or a hand on the ball? You’re wondering why a receiver would be knocked for dropping a ball that hit him directly in both hands? And why a qb would be graded positively for throwing a guy open with a tight window downfield pass? we being fr right now?

PFF analytics suck so much that it's sad, and laughably pathetic that they get so much credit for doing such a shitty ass job. -
PFF can put out whatever they like. I'm going to watch these upcoming games with my own eyes and form conclusions based on that. And at the end of the day there can be different things true at one time. Xavier Legette could end up being yet another swing and a miss. But if we are operating with the same set of rules that many have applied for our first overall pick then it is still quite early. But I don't expect consistency from that lot. As far as our staff and PFF goes I am a firm believer that no matter what happens the rest of the season we need to fully purge the college scouting staff from top to bottom and also rethink our use of analytics going forward because we have been terrible and we remain terrible.

I have no idea what's going on there if they're trying to curry favor with Tepper to try to get on his payroll too but it's odd and it might be tanking their credibility. Everyone else is watching these games too. You can't "muh system" your way through this poo -

Oh and the PFF brainiacs were breaking down the upcoming game. Dude said if there is one thing we know about Bryce Young…..he wants to throw the ball downfield wut? I think they must have let AI takeover their work or some poo. It doesn’t sound like they watch Bryce Young. Who would describe Bryce like that lol
