  2. T.J Houshmandzadeh said he hit the gym at the combine and saw eight #Panthers employees working out Dan Morgan said: this is just what we do https://x.com/threesandtds24/status/2034630319744352457?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA
  3. Are they trying to tell us something about brooks?
  4. Today
  5. Good mention here of Ed Reed. He's the prototype and there's never been another one that was really up to his level. Just like, on a more local note, Luke was that guy for MLB. Chasing the position, hoping for that kind of player can be troublesome. It's why those guys have gold jackets and the thousands upon thousands of other good to really good players don't. Your first round pick HAS to be either a game breaker like one of those guys, guaranteed, or needs to be a solid, multi-year starter in a position of need AND, as the OP stated, a cost savings overall. And the OP made a heck of a good case for OT and DT being right in line for us. Still... can you catch a falling star? A lot of teams break their future trying to reach for one.
  6. I love Darrell Jackson Jr sleeper because he played on a bad fsu team(I am a fsu fan) but he is a freak
  7. Fun game to watch but wow we have a serious goalie problem, with the D being inconsistence neither one can be counted on to bail them out, one of these two better get their game together or it's a quick exit from the playoffs.
  8. Re: the safety talk - There's a range of roles they fall into. And depending where on the spectrum, the value can absolutely align R1, but its rare. If you identify one that can play 80% snaps off the bat and has the skillset for robber and slot roles, then it aligns. The best slot a lot of the time (Hamilton, Branch, Emman, Pitre) It can be tantalizing but many of the time, those defenses were in a good spot already (BAL, SEA, HOU for example) And for a Fangio-esque defense running two-high-shell, heavy zone w/simulated pressures, and primarily 5 and 6 DB packages, having a guy that can adapt on a package-to-package basis is huge. If you find a guy that can play back, play robber, and play as a slot-defender all in one is one of the most valuable types in the NFL. Inversely, if you don't play that way, a FS has very minimal value. Overall, I would say there is still more inherent value in a 3 down DL or edge rusher. The nice thing about landing one is we have Ransom to pull back deep when they're in the slot. There's a few in R2 that could be interesting in this respect.
  9. Reader would be solid but Evero definitely has his preferences. His types on the DL (all spots) are a bit different than the other Fangio disciples. Even for 0/1, it seems likes the more athletic/fluid types over the power/clogs. And he doesn't mind using undersized guy like Turk opposite DB. I was really interested in Harmon & Tyleik Williams last year. Unfortunately they went way higher than expected so fell between our 1-2 picks. Unsure how this team thought of them. Would be nice to get someone a bit more fierce and a pocket-collapser alongside Brown. 2 of the 3 should have that ability to disrupt on any given play. Of the 1st Rd DLs, I definitely like McDonald but am a bit iffy on Woods & Banks. The two DL after Round 1 that I think could be real finds are Kaleb Proctor & Darrell Jackson Jr.
  10. Okay I hear Ed Oliver and Aaron Donald. Is that realistic? I been sleeping on this guy.
  11. That's a fair take... Maybe I am a bit higher on Bryce than the huddle. I think he's average. Not what we hoped for the number 1 pick but he's good enough you can win with him. I think help him as much as possible. Make his life easier, need people to win their matchups make his throws easier. The defense can hold teams to 21-28 the real challenge is us scoring 21-28
  12. I think some people see the marginal benefits of improving the defense being higher than improving the offense because the offense is limited by Bryce Young.
  13. To me it seems he runs a little upright. His highlights are blocked well, and he is very north south getting upfield which that is a good thing. This is the norm of average but capable type of running back. You get what you can block, he doesn’t dance he heads upfield.
  14. It amazes me how many people look at the panthers roster and they no the offense is better than the defense and is in better shape than the defense lol. If the defense lined up vs the offense right now the defense would be sinking its teeth into this offense. Wow the defense doesn't need but a few patches here and there but I would be fine with lining them up as is. The offense is much less proven and is relying on unknowns at tackle center no sure fire number 2 no sure fire tight end, and no sure fire at running back. It's clear which side is in worse condition and yet.. we need a DT or a corner or a safety, yeah all that would be nice but if you are guaranteed a home run at any position which position would you put it at to make this team better today(outside QB and edge because Phillips is suppose to be that pick)
  15. Potential is meaningless until it's realized. A year ago this class was supposed to be loaded. Now look at them.
  16. I think its more potential at this point. There are a ton of guys that could ascend in this upcoming year. More so than prior. Nobody has done anything of note yet.
  17. True, they still have to prove themselves all over again. Some could have bad years or get injured. However, the Panthers just signed the lone first round QB in the worst QB class in a decade plus. So calling the '27 class mid at the moment is the face of the Kenny Pickett signing is like convincing yourself the 2am last chick in the bar is just as good as the model your buddy took home hours ago.
  18. Half my section was obnoxious Pittsburgh fans last nite. I'm not sure I would have held it together if the Canes lost. You're in someone else's house, they gave you a free bobblehead- regardless of your jersey- just sit down and watch the game and don't talk sh!t. "Go back to Connecticut, you Whalers!" is as imaginative as it got. "You can't call a penalty on Sid the Kid!" It was a challenge. In a relative sense, the blue line was excellent last night. Kept the puck in the O-zone and the Canes owned the offensive end of the ice thru 2 periods. Slavin gave up a breakaway, Nikishin turned the puck over once or twice, but it was a far better effort than what we've seen recently. Sure, it should have been a 2-3 goal differential, but Freddie stopped nothing in the 3rd period. But he was a wall in OT- Pittsburgh had their shots in OT. And, it goes without saying, the officiating sucked. Malkin took a dive and slid halfway down the ice until a whistle was blown and Svech catching an extra 2 minutes was complete bullsh!t. The refs did everything they could to keep Pittsburgh in the game. A good way to start vacation. Headed to the Caribbean for a solid week of nothing but beach time and good food & drink for a week. Will be back at the NJ game on the 28th.
  19. I agree with him. At this moment that class has not proven to be anything special. They have this coming season to distance themselves from each other.
  20. I see bet365's game. Odds on the 16s are way lower. Howard+3300 on their site. +8000 on FanDuel. Siena +1900, +5500 on FanDuel
  21. I remember him being a solid RB some years back. But since Green Bay he had a very short lived stint with the Eagles last year and perusing some of the comments from Eagles fans the gist is even though he might be in "incredible shape" he got armed tackled by smaller linebackers and 2 yards and a cloud of a dust was the highlight more often than not. He also had a key fumble late against the Giants in a loss and that was his only carry in the entire game. Not good. This certainly is not the anything like the Dowdle signing.
  22. Most of the twitter and Facebook crowd are causals who don't even know what "icing" is they are the same people who were pissed we didnt give doggie Hamilton a that albatross contract the devils tried to unload. The same assclowns who tell you to "shut up and support our team! When you point out the spots that NEED upgrades. I'm as die hard as you are but I'm not gonna stress it because as soon as they did nothing I resigned myself to another ECF beat down at best.
  23. They were a 10 seed and he was a known commodity. A 15 that was winning with alley oops was crazy to me. The 3 ball can be an equalizer for lesser teams but that wasn't the reason they won that's what makes it crazier to me
