This has to go over like a lead balloon in Happy Valley. A coach that just went 5-4 in the Big 12 tied for 7th in the league and you get hired to coach Penn State? LOL
-
It could be done. You just have to have the proper support infrastructure underneath. Just take some engineering to carry thr load. I got bored one day and figured out how to do it from a landscaping perspective.

Haha. Penn State. Fires James Franklin, who went 104-45 and made 8 (5-3) appearances in NY6 bowl games, including winning 2 CFP games, out of the Big 10. Hires Matt Campbell, who went 72-55 and made 1 (1-0) appearance in NY6 bowl games, never a CFP participant, out of the Big 12. His win in the Fiesta Bowl was against Oregon who literally sat every starting skill position (including a young QB named Tyler Shough) for that game as it was the COVID year. I couldn't be happier for a school that did nothing about young children being molested by the football staff for decades. I hope they suck for the next 100 years.

No tight ends this time around. Trenches, ILB, if the right edge is there then you adjust. Talking about Young and thinking his standards are suddenly like 4-5 notches higher because of a couple of games is such a trap. He is like the 5 that shows up to the party with a couple of fat 2s. Don’t look too close.

They will almost certainly replace him with someone already on staff who is worse in everyway -

If he leaves for a HC job, we get an extra 3rd comp pick in consecutive years. -
We’re never getting natural grass. The Tepper's loving having concerts, and for those shows they lay plastic flooring over the field and build the stage on top. Natural grass can’t survive the repeated abuse and compaction.

I assume we will be picking 15-18. Would love to trade down a couple picks for a 2nd or 3rd rounder. Need upgrade at LB and FS. CB depth could be great with next year being Mike Jackson’s last year. Don’t love Smith-Wade on the outside if someone goes down. Also give a lineman a redshirt year. 2027 we will need a lineman starter on rookie deal. What we have will be expensive where 1 may have to go.

We have had our souls crushed since 2018, it’s hard to feel anything much about our prospects. I can feel the game day stuff still. poo when we lose even if I know it’s coming, and good when we win. I still think he record may be a mirage. We could finish anywhere from 11-6 to 7-10. Heavily doubting the 11-6. Our record after a win is 2-4. Suggesting there won’t be a streak. That is just cold numbers there are plenty of intangibles in play so who knows.

How are a dozen snowballs being thrown within a yard or two of Troy's punter not a 15-yard penalty on JMU's fans / team?
-
Yep. Games are won in the trenches. I don't know this Clemson guy, but it's clear to me we need a 3-4 DE that can actually get off a block.

The crazy thing is, I agree that there is a perception that he's on a hot streak, but he actually isn't. He's had two good games out of the last six, with the rest being various levels of mid-to-poo. It's just that our expectations have gotten so beat down over the last 3 years, him looking competent feels like he's playing awesome. Dude is graded on the ultimate curve.

I hope he does leave. I've not been sold on his defense. -

Eh....not sure that but I don't think they will be realistic options. It would be nice but unlikely. -

Probably so. Well, they would deserve it.
