We had more runs than passes in a blowout. The goal was clear the performance was a disaster. 38 year old vet played like an undrafted rookie.

I bought some of that and really liked it lol.

Do we have a limited amount of pie to give each day? That’s news to me.

After we release Dalton tomorrow, who do we sign?
DaveThePanther2008 replied to sonburst4's topic in Carolina Panthers
I definitely wouldn't mind seeing him move to the #2 spot. He definitely can't do any worse. -
Dalton is washed, but I don't think he's as bad as his performance yesterday. The reason they re-signed him is because he and Bryce have a good relationship, Andy knows his role is as the backup and he's not notably better than Young. In other words, he's a mentor who's not gunning for Young's starting spot even when Bryce himself has azz games or stretches of games.

The season was dead at conception. If the schedule wasn't so easy upfront then everyone would already know this. They won some slap fights agaisnt other losers but got slapped in the face by the reality of the situation. This is still not a good team and it's still questionable if they are building more than better than 'historically bad'. -
These guys are crazy. We trot Chuba out there on the first drive two straight handoffs he averages 2 yards a carry on that drive Andy gets sacked on 3rd down and punt. 2nd drive with Rico in we throw a pass first play for first down to TMac, next play we run Rico for 5 yard gain, next play incomplete pass, next play another 5 yard gain for Rico, followed by another incomplete pass, and then Rico breaks a 24 yard gain to get us into the red zone, before Dalton fumbles. Half of Rico carries came in his first drive of the game. Yes we were in the hole, mainly due to coaching sucks.

even if you exclude the final drive of the first half (because it was going to be pass heavy given the time), most of his passing was on 1st and 2nd down. 8 vs 5. And one of those 5 was a 3rd and short. Just a horrible called game.

It's definition of insanity, seeing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome. This is the David Tepper Panthers and until he sales the team or completely changes how he runs things, this is the product we get year after year. -
yep I want a functioning passing game

Watching the post game interview makes me want to make his face look like a catchers mitt. -

I don't think they cut Dalton mid season. I don't think he will retire either. Hendon Hooker had approximately 12 seconds to learn the playbook. I do think backup quarterback just addressed itself as a "need." Bring on Jameis. -
I said he was washed when they resigned him and not many wanted to hear it. There is zero reasons to have guys on the 53 that can't contribute anymore. They should have gone after someone else and let that guy retire. What a fugging joke

We know what's coming... 8-9 or better would surprise me. We'll probably get 2-3 more wins, all in division. ATL, TB wk18 (bc they're resting), & split Saints 5-7 wins coming again. Pick 7-12 -
Andy Dalton is a great guy, and he has earned every bit of the respect he's garnered. He's in line for a relatively large payday next year, so he has a tough call to make this offseason. But it's over for him as an NFL player. That was absolutely clear. I don't want to pile on the guy, because I do like him a lot, and I think he's a good dude. That was like watching your dog get old. Nothing fun about it.

The entire team sucked in all three phases. You don't need to watch the game to see that.
-
If Buffalo's lead back was averaging 2.8 yards a carry like ours they probably still beat us by a score of 13-9 or something, but we don't get blown out. Allen didn't do much in that game, he just didn't lose it for them, there was no trickery they lined up in their heavy personnel and ran right through the defense.
-
5 yards a carry is good but it still doesn't mean you run it every time. Rico had a couple long runs which brings up the average, over over 20 yards on at least 1 I believe. Watching the first half, we typically threw it when it was 3rd and long due to the first couple runs getting stopped. I mean the fact it was 40-9 and we still ran it more than we passed shows me our goal was to run it on them, we just got in too much of a hole.
-
Our entire QB room is azz. Why single out one of them? Honestly Mike White might be the best one of them all and he was just signed off the street.
-
Most people on this site get that Rico not getting the ball at all on 2 of the first 3 series is a CHOICE. And a bad one. Which outs the gameplan (lack there of being a good one) going into the game of not wanting to take advantage of a bad rush D with your best player. and if you go back and watch some of those Rico goes wild games. We opted to run.....when in theory you shouldn't of if you had a good QB. Which is what we should of opted to do vs a horrific run D with Dalton at QB. Pretty sure if Rico Dowdle was the primary RB.....that entire game changes. Bills couldn't stop him. He just barely touched the ball in the first half. Coaching choic. We probably lose but we probably are competitive late. I mean, its actually WILD to suggest giving Rico the ball heavy of and often early vs that bad run defense doesn't change much.
-
This has become a 2 steps forward 1 step back team. Last year we won 5 games, the d was historically bad, the offense was dysfunctional and lacked weapons. This year we already have 4 wins, the d has improved- especially the run d, the offense has weapons. We have holes and qb is still a giant concern and this year has shown how important a good qb is to the whole team- see ravens, Bengals, vikings. I do think a solid qb and another good draft will completely improve this team. And it won't take 7 years like rhule. Just 3?
-
Canales got cute, trying to throw the ball. Instead of leaning on the ground game to take pressure off the backup QB. Also they still don’t know how to split the carries.
-
Yep, and if Morgan isn’t addressing this and letting him do his thing because there is alignment all the way to the top, then we’re mega fuged anyway.
