Kaye with a nice breakdown on what Dan just did
ForJimmy replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
They are typically prove it deals for players. They play great this one year and one of the 32 teams is paying them a nice contract in the offseason usually. -
I don't understand the first round grade on Faulk, a DE with 10 career sacks tells me he struggles to get to the QB.
-
He made every type of catch you could ask out of a WR, let alone a TE. One-handed, diving, boundary top-tap, high point, extending on inaccurate throws, securing an ant burner, boxing out, back shoulder. Check, check, check, check, check, check and check. Not to mention finishes a TD run on a bum leg after pulling a quad.

FA Splash: Panthers sign Jaelan Phillips EDGE

No agent will sure, but no agent plays football. Does Bryce want to win or does he want an 8th mansion? -
Isaiah Simmons: "A riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma"
Chief Keek replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
Simmons found his role on ST and he can be used as a rotational guy off the bench, that's his ceiling. -
Tight End: The Need is Bigger than We Think

That about sums it up. A better TE isn't going to improve Bryce's inability to make the right read, he routinely misses guys who are open all the time. -
BREAKING: Panthers re-signing Nick Scott
Basbear replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
People that watched the games for the whole season and were not jaded by early season struggles saw Nick get better each week. By the seasons end, he was NOT the weakest link, in fact he was playing at a high level even with rams testing him(he got a INT). -
TE room is still awful young, even tremble is 25 or so years old. I feel they just need to "breakout" and yes any of the three young ones could do that. Sanders has been on that "breakout" path and each time get a freak injury. Evans had a solid rookie season and can improve if he wants it enough. Tremble he's right there too, came in awful young and just needs to get over the hump. I feel the QB is holding them back.......

Isaiah Simmons: "A riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma"
Basbear replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
Reveal- Until three weeks before his draft, I wanted Simmons >> Brown. I hate to say I didn't see his greatest flaw the first time, upon reviewing more clips and lucky listening to better scout. Simmons was shown not to enjoy contact/hitting. WHich is crazy given he played a joker type of LB and had tons of tacks and big plays. But it was there hidden in the slow mo and people that played the game, he didn't enjoy hitting. Given that's a huge part of defenders job, I dropped him from want/need list and lucky for everyone dbrown was there to be picked. Seems he's found a role or lane he's comfy in and willing to do and it does fit him once you disregard his draft status. Who knows, he maybe the NB for evero this year. He can still become a legit starter. -
Joly has the one thing our current TE groups does not, really, really good hands. Tremble has gotten better at catching, but will never have 'natural' hands. Evans is a blocking TE that has okay hands. A passing game threat is what we thought we were getting when drafting Sanders, but have found out otherwise. With all the TEs we have drafted over the recent years, none of them have been considered a true weapon. That needs to change. Blocking TEs are a dime a dozen and can be had on the cheap. The miscalculation of the front office, folly if you will, is the idea of the Swiss Army knife TE, the guy that can do everything. It takes a real gem to find a TE that does everything and do it well, so our jack of all trades ends up elite at nothing especially the one area where we (the fans) think the weak link is--a receiving threat.

They'll back load his deal and restructue or cut after three years like all of the Panthers deals have been set up under Dan. -
BREAKING: Panthers sign QB Kenny Pickett
Basbear replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Just about every position group on this team is legit right now, expect the QB room, its STILL one of the weakest in the NFL. Pickett made it weaker, holy hell Dan.......He needs to draft TY Simpson to save the team..... -
I can not draft a CB to save myself and Im still having big trouble in the 3rd round. Heres my "DAM IT I MISSED CB, but overall hauled in a bunch of good players" draft. Plus Dan has made it hard- Safety has 4 guys and the normal carry in-season. DL has 6, again normal carry WR has 6-7-8 too many Even ILB has Lloyd, wallance, Bam, and Ched that's enough for in-season. I feel OL and CB/NB/DB/weapon needs more from my drafts, I just follow the board tho.

No agent on Gods green earth is going to suggest that, he will have us by the short hairs when it comes time to negotiate. -

Bryce will take a team friendly deal to make up for the fact he sucked for 2 years and we had to trade the farm for him. Trust - Today

BREAKING: Panthers sign QB Kenny Pickett
mrcompletely11 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think with Teps comments this offseason Bryce is here to stay. I have mentally prepared myself for this. Closely watching Miami and AZ to see how long it takes to correct a mistake -
I see tools as a general term that doesn't really encompass a lot of specifics. Great QB mind but he lacks the physical tools. Why. He's 5'3. Arm strength, power, size, explosion. Some things to look at that you can put a check in the box and then move on to evaluation of skill. Arms are an inch too short so he doesn't have the tools but he was an elite level tackle in college. Yeah that's when skill matters and fug having all the 'tools". Tools are why we didn't draft Slater.

I truly wonder what they are thinking if/when they have to give Bryce a new deal? -
I had him as a hopeful 4th rounder, but he might not be there.
-
The Bryce question means a lot this offseason with so many positives in place stability in the system only thing I can think of would be Bryce being a mini workout warrior this offseason to bulk up as much as possible. Not body building strength just ripped up a little basically finding his NFL body. I hope he comes back like heβs been in the gym with a purpose.
-
To the best of my knowledge, he is the only one we have talked to...he can run the full route tree. They showed us their "type" of TE when they showed interest in Njoku. I think they would rather have a veteran. Over the past 2 years, they have done some "bottom fishing" for a gem on day 3 (Sanders, Evans)
