Canes vs Panthers Rd 3 Gm3 8pm
TLGPanthersFan replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
It is hard not to feel hopeless. There is some hope buried behind a hopeless wall but the hopeless wall is thick. Going off of the last two games I don’t see how we win. Team looked utterly defeated on Thursday, kinda like the Leafs did when the Panthers tied the series 2-2, and we all know how that ended. I hope for the best. I will at least turn on the game for a little while. -
His size will always limit him. Do t kid yourself

When a team has EXPECTATIONS you have to show them that your fandom and praise is EARNED. People would be mad if the they lost two one goal competitive games like 2023 but they wouldn't have gotten booed out of the building because the effort and competitiveness would be there but to lose in THAT fashion at home with your entire top line going free lance and saying fug this yeahhh.

Well with back to back road games to open the season again we really can't afford a "slow start" at least not for the psyche of the fanbase that is already at rock bottom from years of losing. I think that will depend on our approach to preseason this go around. But I do agree the makings of a culture change could be big for us. At the same time we heard talk of this last year and then we got the doors blown off multiple times. I can agree with you it's best to try to maintain perspective until we get closer to the midway point of the season. The main things I want to see early on even if we aren't necessarily winning is spark and toughness from the offense and defense and at least keeping games close.

Im not watching Boycott in effect. Lol Im guessing it will he without Jarvis and lord knows Rods gonna play Morrow again if chatty can't go -
It's actually interesting you mention Richardson because I've seen it suggested here Bryce will have 500 or more rushing yards and 5-10 rushing touchdowns this year. And if big Anthony Richardson can get hurt carrying the rock what's that tell you about the practicality of thinking Bryce won't?

I mean, I get why the media and some NFL and Carolina fans are saying that we don't have a real chance, but as many Huddlers should know, we won't know what we really have in this team until probably late September or early October at the earliest. And I'm not trying to be a homer, I'm just looking at things historically. Obviously I'm also looking at Bryce's "palatable" improvement the last half of last season (including being the catalyst for hanging with and nearly beating the Super Bowl participants), and the new additions that we've acquired overall. I'm also looking at the beginnings of a culture change--even if perceptibly subtle--to some degree indeed may take a foothold if things start falling the right way. But, overall, I'm still cognizant of the realization that things could just go south and that perhaps that Bryce could revert and flop, or that D & D (Dan and Dave) are not the answer, but I still am not ready to say "we're far away." Hell we could be close, albeit with growing pains, but even if we're on the course to bring legit in 2026, then guys like Ramsey would be welcome additions this season. That's just my take on it. I don't think we'll know that we're far away until some point in the season. If we can compete in the South...who knows?

You guys remember when the narrative on here was that Bryce would be chronically injured in the NFL due to his size and Anthony Richardson would be super durable due to his? You remember when the narrative was that Bryce was physically incapable of throwing a ball further than 20 yards in the NFL? You remember “I’ll stop complaining when he throws for more than 200 yards and looks like an NFL quarterback”? You remember when 60 sacks was his fault and not the offensive line, slow WRs, and terrible scheme? Pepperidge Farm remembers. It will always be something for some people. Whatever insanity they come up with will be quickly dropped to move on to the next thing. Bryce could have an MVP Super Bowl winning season and they would complain that we can’t run the tush push with him. It will always be something.

For the Panthers fans still low on Bryce and demanding that he be a top-10 QB this upcoming season: What stat(s) will you need to see? Not the vibe you want, but rather what does he need to be top-10 in specifically? Passing yards? Completion percentage? Win-loss record? PFF grades? EPA? CPOE? Asking because this was asked before and... well... it ended up that the folks down on him didn't care about the numbers as much as they cared that they just couldn't get passed his size regardless of how he performed. It would be nice to get a straight-forward answer to that without the usual deflection and redirecting.

100%. And these same people will claim you have an agenda. You can't have it every way. We had the lowest rated defense in the league last year. Statistically the worst ever. By PFF grades (for whatever that's worth- but they are readily accepted, used, and conveyed by most "reputable" sources), the defense was the worst ever. Not only that, PFF rated our receiving corp the worst in football last season. The absolute worst... out of 32 teams. Which is why regardless of the lip service Canales and Morgan paid to the current guys, they knew it would be criminal not to give Bryce more help. People fixating on team stats and not taking these things into context are stupid, plain and simple, and I'm for one thankful they're not running this team (or probably anything for that matter bc they obviously can't discern reality. Again, going back to the eyeball test these Narrative Nancies seem to hate so much, did they not see the windows Bryce was putting balls into? Have the generally not watched much NFL? Please, please show me the film where all these NFL QBs are making throws like this to this point Bryce was "below average" down the stretch compared to them. Bryce made more wow throws in that 3 game stretch of the Bucs, Chiefs, and Eagles than every other QB combined in all the years since since Cam got hurt I genuinely am baffled by people that can watch throws like that and act like it's nothing. I guarantee you Steve Spagnola, Todd Bowles, and and Vic Fangio didn't think it was nothing after watching the little guy torch them with players those teams would be embarrassed to trot out at the skill position players. The national media spent all year making excuses for Mahomes not having elite weapons when he had multiple 1st & 2nd round talents at the skill positions along with future HoFers in Kelce and Hopkins. Bryce wasn't throwing for 300 yards every week with David Moore and Adam Theilen in spite of jaw dropping throws and you want to say the guy played below average. For those people, again, we ain't watching the same sport. And the name calling doesn't change that... The vitriol and projection... it's off the effing charts with these people.

"Well you see if you remove this terrible game that terrible game this other terrible game and then focus on these games you'll see he's actually one of the better QB's in the league and he's actually as good as Jayden Daniels". My god this place is delusional. I love it.

You two. I have four types of pain meds now. Lol
-
I remember being in Detroit when the Canes and Red Wings were playing in the Finals and the Wing fans got pissed they lost a single game. Lmfao
-
Did you do the math? His final 10 games extrapolated to a season puts him at 16 in yards and 10 in tds. (One behind Mahomes) These numbers are identical to Jayden Daniels. Is he not above average? These stats are easy to find and its simple math
-
Yes it's quite crazy. I said the fans should've thrown those damn towels on the ice. I wouldn't want to keep that damn thing after the way the team played. That's how real hockey towns treat their teams when they poo the bed. Look at any Canadian team for reference.

PANTHERS @ HURRICANES ROUND 3 GAME 1

Yep he made the comment " I dont know what they were doing out there at that point" in the press conference. Let's be real they all got paid but they also know his system suppresses there offensive potential. -

Yup the casuals on Facebook ive gotten 85 laughing or angry emojis so far for pointing it out. The amount of them throwing a fit because the canes were booed is insane

Why are you so fixated on yards? Even if yards were a good judge of QB play, his low yardage totals in some of those games were partly a function of drops (looking at you Xavier Leggette…). I’m not advocating that Bryce was elite for the last half of last year, but the eye test certainly supported high level QB play for large stretches. He made a lot of high difficulty, put it on the money/drop in the bucket throws. He converted on 3rd and 4th down, kept drives moving, and put the team in position to win games. And it’s not on him that the defense blew it late after he led game tying drives, Leggette dropped a game winning TD, or Chuba fumbled the ball in OT. We could have finished the season close to .500 with wins against 3 playoff teams including KC and Philly during that stretch largely due to Bryce’s play. Has he sustained this level of play long enough to deserve an higher ranking? No. But for judging based in that stretch alone, he would. But whether he can perform more consistently at that level or build on that, and thus earns a higher ranking, remains to be seen.

Totally agree with you, if we had invested in drafting a corner or two I wouldn’t even ponder adding Ramsey. But, to be honest we legit added nobody to our corner room this offseason we have nobody worth developing. Even if Chau Smith Wade is better then what I think, he is the only guy we have invested draft capital into outside of our starters.
-
Look at his snap counts, your telling me that his entire college and pro football career every coach he has had has misused him? No offense but I don’t think you understand the role of a slot corner. Mike Jackson is the literal definition of an outside zone corner, he would be totally inept as a slot corner. Ala why he has been an outside corner his entire career.

If we were a super bowl contender, I'd be up for it. We are far from it, so no.
