QB 2026 (For the Young Haters)
Swaggasaurus replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was told by everyone on here that 2025 was weak and 2026 would be better. Crazy I heard the same stuff the year before, and the year before that. Joking aside, 2026 QB are ass. -
76 replies and not a single person has a legitimate answer on who they would bring in. BY will make 9M next year regardless of what happens so he will be here next year. It will cost around 26M to sign him to his fifth year extension. The real question is who would you bring in instead of paying him. Who is or will be available? Kirk Cousins, Russell Wilson, Kenny Picket, Sam Howell, Geno Smith. Are any them going to make the Panthers significantly better? Brock Purdy and Daniel Jones may become available but neither will be cheap. What would you pay for them - assuming you don't sign Young to 26M

Well if you want a qb who limits interceptions I have an exciting trade opportunity for you.
-
Only 3 drives in the first half too.
-
That’s what I said is that we missed the field goal. I’m saying Love threw nearly 2 more interceptions.
-
I definitely agree but I still feel like until you get a “better QB” it’s all moot. I don’t want us investing more in RBs when we’ll need to extend Ickey and sign a QB soon. Also we need a premier pass rusher.
-
Red zone woes did you guys in. You could move the ball, but not seal the deal when it counted. Teams can overcome a turnover or two, but you can't generally win relying largely on FGs.

I'm neither a big BY supporter, nor a big BY hater......but I don't know if I really follow comments like "a QB away from competing." We're 9 weeks into the season and have a winning record, aren't we competing? Unless what's meant there is actually "a legit contender to win the SB".
-
Going by production like this is misleading. like watch Bijan Robinson and tell me he’s not the best player on the field every week.
-
We don’t count near picks on this board. Also he didn’t miss a field goal; that was your rapist kicker.
-
Love had 271 yards passing yesterday with a pick though. He almost threw 2 more picks. He may have outplayed Young by a mile but you won’t win many games with 2 turnovers, turnover on downs and a missed Field goal. Also we had only 3 drives in the first half and 4 plays resulting in loss of yardage.

This is an incredibly random thing for there to be this much smoke about. -

No chance. -
In fairness the Cards do the same thing with Murray. Im not worried about not having a qb sneak. Hell the Saints sub in Hill for the same thing.

Hold on. I've seen posts about it a few times on X but wasn't sure if they were legit or not. Surely it's not real...right?? -
Just want to let you know that I really like this post. Chubba is really a complementary piece on a good team but you really can't build your offense around him. That said, if we didn't have Dowdle on the roster, and had a stud at QB, he'd be a nice back to have. Until your post, I'd totally forgotten about Brooks being on the team. It would be a great story is he could bounce back, but at the end of the season he'd be halfway through his 4 year rookie deal. I don't hold out much hope for him but I could be wrong. A 3 year contract sounds perfect if he's extended if the cost is reasonable. He'd be 30 when it ended. If he were some how playing at an All-Pro level you could always extend it for an extra year. As you pointed out, if he wants to a change of scenery, you should be able to move on with another RB (via draft, FA, or return to a RB already on the roster...Chubba or Brooks if healthy).

Never will

Oh yeah, I remember all too well. Height isn't his only issue, a weak arm and inability to run inside due to his slightness as well. I bet we don't have the tush push in our playbook, or any variation of a short yardage QB keeper...which is absurd.
-
T-Mac will tell you he expects to make that catch. But every missed opportunity with Bryce at QB just feels massive because you know there's not gonna be many. You watch other teams and there's near misses all over the place but it's just okay, next play let's go. But with the Panthers it feels like you're doomed because that was THE chance you're gonna have.
