The Case for(or Against) Drafting/Signing a TE
kungfoodude replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
He basically is only able to make adjustments with at least a week of hindsight. He is completely clueless on the in game adjustments. Tremendously worse than guys like Fox or Rivera who were constantly criticized for that. -
Also. I cannot say enough how insane it is that the same people who expect the defense to win us games and complain about the OL while completely ignoring the reality that we went above and beyond to over invest in the OL just to give Bryce Young a chance to look like an average QB. And he still can't do that. But it's everyone else's fault. Pitiful.
-
To be fair, calling Legette a "first round receiver" is a little misleading. I would agree though that the OL has generally been good, especially when you tractor in all the injuries.
-
Icky alone gave up 5 pressures last Sunday against the Saints. He was injured in the first half and then was bullied by Chase Young a good bit that game.
-
Do you think BY avoided any sacks Sunday? Just looking for your opinion.
-
Highest paid OL in the league. Multiple first round WR's. You can type up as many excuses as you want. If our guy can't produce in THIS pitiful version of the NFCS it's a wrap. Accept it.
-
No, you don't. But one of the elements that most fans have been asking for is play makers and big time plays in big moments. We had another big TD throw against the Saints, but again, the Panthers need it on a more consistent basis. Lack of it has been coaching AND personnel. To see some of it emerging is hopeful at best. They just cannot put it all together week to week. These last three games will tell us even more.

Our TE group might be one of the worst in the league. We need to upgrade it 100% no matter who the QB is. -
I honestly don’t even know what you’re rambling on about here. The OL gave up multiple immediate pressures that Bryce overcame and made plays. Bryce was the main reason this offense was able to move the ball at all on Sunday. Overall the OL isnt a top 10 OL in terms of pass protection which is a Dan Morgan problem. Especially given the amount of cap he’s got tied into them The box score watching casuals are being exposed in this thread it was only fitting you jumped in Carry on

I was referring to changes that he made from one game to the next. In game is another story. -

I don't know how you can say he did a good job fixing issues. He doesn't even recognize issues in game. Situational awareness is one of the things he lacks. He's probably one of the least flexible coaches I've seen. We do the same thing over and over. Defending DC offense is pretty easy. Stack the box and make Bryce beat you. Either he will or he won't. -
I'm much less concerned about missing on Darnold as I am Mike Macdonald. The guy has that franchise humming from top to bottom. Disgusts me. Seahawks fans have it made. Meanwhile we're over here consistently disappointing any time there are even remotely upward expectations.

Of course we can but TE like WR is going to continue to be a what if position group until we get a QB in here who can consistently put our receivers in a position to succeed with quality ball placement. -
This place really is something. The team has shown year to year growth both years Dave has been here and half of the people here can only ever talk about the negative.

This Bryce Guy (General BY Discussion)
Candler Cat replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Nothing sucks more at that place than having to pay 30 bucks just to park -
It was a bad play from Icky but the OL didn't give up a sack until late in the 4th quarter and Bryce just stood there like he was canatonic. If our 3rd year number one overall pick can't overcome one single sack against a rebuilding Saints team that should only have 2 wins this season then it isn't ever going to happen. You can login here and act like you are the only one above the fray and rational but in reality you're just boot licking for bottom of the barrel QB play because there isn't anyone associated with the Panthers that you wouldn't throw under several speeding buses in order to run cover for Bryce Young.

I felt like he did a good job fixing the issues from the first Saints game, for example. Although I admit mid second half it did kind of feel like he was going back to old tendencies. -
Young isn't being tricked by coverages - so whatever Canales is teaching is working - the problem is he's just not talented enough to get the ball where it needs to be.

I was going to say the latter, TBH. He seems pretty inflexible. -

I'd say one of the other things you have to factor in here is the question of whether Canales is the kind of coach that adapts his system to his players or vice versa. Going off what we see with Young, I'm gonna say it's probably the former. -
Lots of things This particular debate isn't one of them though

100% agreed. They all had it coming because all of them were less than stellar hires in the first place. Even keeping Dan after 2023 was insane. This is the man that chose Hurney to begin his big NFL rollout LOL and that was after canning Ron when they both deserved it from the 2019 build. -
What in the fug is wrong with you?

It's super tough for me to predict 2026 without the insane amount of variables involved. I will wait to see what the offseason looks like. Tepper has tended to be too impatient with HC's and too patient with GM's. Just on average, I would say. I don't think we really ever canned anyone(HC or GM) that didn't have or coming.
