The thing that really sticks me with Canales is, if you’ve worked your whole life to reach the pinnacle of the coaching profession, and you finally get the opportunity to become one of only 32 people in the world doing it… and you decide to commit so hard to this fuging bum who will not only get you fired if you stick with him, but will likely tank your chances of ever getting the opportunity to do it again. That’s why it HAS to be Tepper’s call. IT ABSOLUTELY HAS TO BE. Everyone, coach or not, has a threshold and a survival instinct attached to it - and the thought that DC hasn’t reached that point yet with the reputation he has as a QB whisperer while the guy he keeps trotting out there ha solidified himself as the worst starting QB in league history? And again, that’s in the face of know DC needs and prefers guys with the physical tools to sling the football. It just makes no fuging sense. And it pisses me off even more with Tepper because you see all this and you’re still forcing him to play Bryce?????? You’re supposed to be the self-made, intelligent dude, and you are so fuging stubborn you choose to cut your nose off to spite your face every fuging Sunday you play this bitch. It’s insane.

Would you trade Derrick Brown to get a top QB prospect?
Jackie Lee replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
fug no just sign a decent vet that can throw past 20 yards. You need to build a culture not keep trading away the occasional talent we hit on in the draft, dude already bought a house and is still working his ass off after signing a contract where a lot of other guys start mailing it in -

Sadly, I’ve talked with a lot of my fellow alumni and Heel fans, and I’ve said, sadly, UNC is in the same exact position with Gio as the Panthers are with Bryce. And the way the situations mirror each other are EERIE. I’ve said here repeatedly how whoever Bryce’s personal team is that conned an NFL front office into taking him as a first round pick, let alone the #1 overall pick, deserve to retire off whatever money he’s made due to their efforts. This poo would make Chauncey Billups’ crime bosses blush.. Same for Gio. Whoever he has around him, representing him, that convinced a power 4 school to pay this MF MILLIONS of dollars at the college level coming from Southwest Alabama Technical Basket Weaving School for the Deaf, Dumb, and Blind University, just to come make the whole rest of the UNC squad look like absolute poo is a fuging amazing sell. I’m talking Tai Lopez level scam poo. And for both to con their way to their position at their respective levels of competition, only to get there and be so clearly the worst piece on their team while simultaneously play the most important position on the field - I’ve never seen anything like it. And what’s worse, in both cases, the organization chooses to keep putting them out there in large part because of ego and investment made. And all they keep doing is making the rest of the team look fuging atrocious. They both literally hold the entire team back by their presence alone. And as an aside, Lopez may have the slowest fuging release I have ever witnessed in my life. In talking slower and longer than fuging The Golden Calf of Bristol. -
@AceBoogie Where you at? You need to come defend your QB!

Bryce's Achilles Heel Is Not What You Think It Is

That’s why I love Jake and always will. He was so fuging gritty and definitely was a gunslinger. Like a not-quite-poor-man’s Brett Favre. Like an economy version lol. He was damn good. Yeah, he’d throw a pick here or there, but more often than not, I trusted Jake. He’d make some throws that really made you think, “damn, he’s even better than I thought.” I loved that he loved to gamble, but more importantly, he gave his guys a fuging chance to make a play. When people have been criticizing Tet for drops, it pisses me off, because they say it like these are some gimmes that he’s dropping. but, at about 6’5”, if your whole body is moving one way and you have to stop or slow down to come back to a ball thrown behind you, or low, that poo is not easy. Bryce isn’t really giving him a chance, and I can see why he’s dropping them. Versus if you look at this highlight reel of Moose: at about halfway through is when Jake stepped in. The passes he was throwing are CRAZY. There’s multiple passes in there where he is throwing across his body while running the opposite way - and he still had the strength to get it on target. Then there’s the throws where he lasers it in a spot only the receiver could get it - seam routes, out routes, over the top. The longer you watch, the more obvious it is that so many of these (what should be basic) throws are completely absent from our offense with Bryce. There was a play today where he started to scramble, kept looking, looking, looking, then just threw it into the ground near the receiver. Let them make a fuging play. His best pass of the day? The long one to Tet? If you re-watch it. About 10-15 yards further downfield, XL smoked his man on a post route. You get maybe 3 chances at that a game usually, and when you don’t even attempt it when it’s there? That poo is so demoralizing. I can’t wait for Bryce’s time here to be fuging over. If they cut him tomorrow I would feel free. I would feel like I just won the fuging powerball. If they signed Heineke, Perkins, White, PJ Walker, or Hooker to start the rest of the year, I would be fuging ecstatic like we just trotted Cam out for the first time. That how fuging life-sucking Bryce is as the QB. - Today

Yeah I'm luckily working every Sunday for the rest of the year, and I'd bet every single interview Dan or Dave does post season is going to about addressing the QB position lol. Even the TV crew that was trying to lick BY's nuts today gave up by halftime... -
I’m out on Bryce, Canales and this team
PadresPanthersFan replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wanted to give Bryce one last chance but he has proven for 2.5 years who he is. They have built everything around him and he still continues to fail miserably. I'm fully out on Bryce. Canales I want to give another shot. I do think him and Morgan are building something and I do think the whole roster is getting better bit by bit. But Bryce is so limited he's an anchor on this team dragging everything down. He needs to go. Rebuild the entire qb room with no tepper strings attached and I do think the team will improve. -
Nothing will change this year, we are locked into what we have. I'm sure we'll limp out with another win or two, but I am 100% out on Bryce and refuse to waste my weekend time watching any more as it's just too frustrating. We aren't a fun team to watch and haven't been for years. It sucks, but I'm over it...this is the pre-Cam Panther era again for me..nothing to see here.

If Tepper is still trying to force it because of the shitty trade that is really bad. Maybe DC is still trying to hang on to his QB whisperer reputation, who knows, but it's all for nothing at this point. Give him a third phantom injury and sign someone off the couch lol. Can't be any worse and may catch a couple teams off guard. -
Bryce Young's average stats over a whole season would be...
Eazy-E replied to TN05's topic in Carolina Panthers
We would legit be the Colts of the NFC with an average vet QB. Just look at both team’s philosophy and composition. Strong O-Line and run game with a bend, don’t break defense. -
It's BAD bad...to the point where you think it's intentional that they knowingly send someone so bad out week after week, like we know what we're gonna get and do it anyway. All the traded picks are behind us, it's ok to just move on. I think we will this offseason. There is absolutely NOTHING to be or get excited about if we commit to him going into next year.

I generated a few quick histogram of his passing compared to Jake and Cam. Bryce - 182 mean passing YPG Jake - 212 mean passing YPG Cam - 223 mean passing YPG (this does not include rushing - he averaged 38 rushing yards per game!) Bryce literally has more 80-124 yard games than games with over 260 yards. This is the longest sustained stretch of ineptitude we've ever seen at QB. Compare this to Cam, who averaged 219 yards a game. 68% of Bryce's games were less than that. Jake also has a midloaded distribution. Bryce is the outlier

Yep to the condensed playing field we are working with. Defense has all kinds of advantages. Hia balls up the middle seem to have velocity if he is mechanically sound. But in general and especially the boundary stuff, he doesn’t have a lot zip. So one more advantage to coverage guys.

Canales Did Not Call a Terrible Game

After this week do they bring back Mike White? Who cares about who we have to cut at this point. Our offense couldn't beat last years defense right now with the way Bryce is playing. -

I'd rather watch Mike White actually try to play well than watch Bryce or Dalton go through the motions, regardless of the game outcome. Please find someone that actually is actually NFL size, young, and desperate for money lol. -
Would you trade Derrick Brown to get a top QB prospect?
TN05 replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's kind of depressing getting older and realizing people never actually saw Jake play. His whole thing was downfield chunks to Steve Smith, even in this 2008 bum arm year he led the league in yards per completion lol. Fox was "conservative" but we were basically a power run team with an air coryell passing attack. -

PNW_PantherMan replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Also you don’t have to take a QB in the 1st or 2nd round. Maybe someone’s there in the 6th that’s interesting. Hell there were plenty of UDFAs more interesting than Jack Plummer and a broken down Andy Dalton this past offseason. -
I think Jayden Maiava is a logical target. I assume Mendoza, Simpson and Moore are gone providing they all come out. Maiava should be easily available in the second at least by current projections. I don’t want to mess with a small QB (like Mateer). Sellers ain’t ready and Nessimeyer and Allar ain’t it. Still think Carson Beck could help as a developmental back up.

Hey I know I am mean lol. Just tired of this grind of going along with this years long thing that has never really been good. He is a good kid trying to make his dream. I would say he has had it. Hiesnam Trophy , number one overall in the NFL Draft, 2 plus years starting at QB in the NFL… he seriously overachieved for his size.

Guys with career altering/ending injuries. And that’s what we started with. Shuddering.
