Surprised how typical this looks actually. These were the first three I saw on the Next Gen Stats twitter page. Hurts made deep attempts but only two more 20+ yard completions than Young:

Feels like the circular debates over Cam's passing stats all over again. People zeroing in on below average completion % and QBR without any context.

But is that because he's not attempting guys downfield and just checking down or because deep balls aren't being called though? We've seen him audible into deep throws. I thought we were all in agreement that Reich's playcalling sucked but now y'all are implying the dink-and-dunk is all Bryce's fault.

What kills me is how many fans think Bryce threw that away. It was on target and Hurst just didn't get there because he doesn't have burst and was knocked off the route.

It's really not as bad as everyone is making it out to be. Certainly not Bridgewater bad where we have to take the deep ball out of the playbook. He's overthrowing these guys by a couple of strides a lot of the time, that doesn't look like someone who struggles with arm strength to me. Faster recievers or better chemistry with them and more of those are caught. Hurst probably catches that 4th down toss for a TD if he wasn't held up. We have no one who can get seperation and no threat for 50/50 balls so Bryce's timing has to perfect to have a chance deep. It hasn't been but I'm not worried about his ability to throw downfield.

CJ being off to a historic start doesn't make Young is a bust. The bar for Young shouldn't be how well the rest of the class is doing in completely different situations.

I agree but having a preference is not an unusual level of involvement for an owner with the #1 pick to me, let alone one whose team had gave up their biggest star to get there. It's certainly not the gun to Frank's head being depicted around here. If he went against own judgement to kiss the boss's ass that's his own damn fault. End of the day they all signed off on Bryce and have to own that.

You guys are very kind to Reich acting like he's betting his career on Bryce against his will. I think it's more likely that he just sucks as a head coach. Also don't understand why you would treat a few comments he's made on big QBs as gospel but discount the numerous imes he's publically praised Young and dismissed his size.
