Best advice yet. Other than Lawrence none of the other QBs are locks to be a Franchise QB. Lots of talent but no guarantee. They could be athletic as Mahomes or Jamarcus Russell. They could be strong armed like Rodgers or Ryan Leaf. They could be a good decision maker like Brady or Winston. Who really knows, we have to let the expert (so called experts) make these decision. We are 5 weeks and one day until we know what will happen for sure. I, for one, cannot wait. We'll have to sit back and see what they will do. I have never seen an offseason with so many QBs switching team, QBs at the end of their careers and QBs hoping for a fresh start. Go Panthers

Panthers sign LB Frankie Luvu
DaveThePanther2008 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
If Luke is having an input on defensive players than that is more than enough for me to be excited. The players we have signed on the defensive side seem to be very athletic. -
Panthers release a key player
DaveThePanther2008 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Definitely in the rebuilding mode now. -
I think Darnold needs a change of scenery. I don' think he ever got an opportunity to really show what he could do, If push came to shove, I would do the trade for a 3rd or 4th. At worse case scenario he'd be a better backup than PJ Walker.

So do they think that Miami is going to hold onto him and go elsewhere with #3 or Trade Down?

Boston Globe says Watson should remain with Texans.
DaveThePanther2008 replied to SizzleBuzz's topic in Carolina Panthers
If I were Watson I would show up and be available but tell them he's not feeling well. Watson may be forced to stay with the Texans but doesn't mean he has to play at his 100%. There are a million ways to collect your paycheck and perform well. How many players get that big contract and become mediocre. Damn I just missed him by over throw or underthrow. The NFL mysteriously puts players on IR all the time just to keep them from being snatched up off a waiver wire. I'm Watson, I show up but don't play. Watson may be forced to stay with the Texans but doesn't mean he has to play at his 100%. -
I will agree that some team might cough up a late first rounder for him but getting another top 10 pick is more valuable than their mid round or late round pick. Maybe we sweeten the deal with one of our extra 6th round picks.
-
Not necessarily so, If Miami chose a QB at 3, No one is going to give a first round pick straight up for a 2nd year player that you've deemed replaceable. 2nd round would be generous. Offering 8 and Tua for 18 is not such a bad deal for either team IF Fitterer and Rhule thinks he's worthy to be franchise QB. As the draft approaches it looks like 4 if not all 5 QBs go before our pick at 8. That leaves us with no QB to focus on. If Miami decides to trade the #3 pick than i hope the Panthers are in the mix to make that trade.
-
I think that would be a fair deal. It depends on whether Rhule and Fitterer and our boss think he's a franchise QB.

Isaiah Wilson cut after one week on Fins...
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
It would not surprise me if this was the player Rhule was referring too. Hours late for his physical, missed meetings and voluntary work outs that he agreed to attend. It blows my mind that so many talented people waste it away because of plain stupidity. First round talent and a 14th round brain. -
With the Watson fiasco going on I doubt we trade for him. I think Miami has to weigh out whether they want to move forward with Tua or snag one of the QBs in this draft. Trading up might cost 2 or 3 first or any number of draft combinations which I think many of us will be willing to do. BUT, WHAT IF, Miami stays at 3 and take s QB. Would you be willing to trade for Tua? I know many are split on whether he has the tools to be a solid NFL starter. I thought he had his bright and terrible moments. But truthfully, most rookies do. If you think he worthy of trading for, what would we be willing to give up to get him. If they take a QB at 3. I think giving up 8 is too high considering they are moving on from him however instead of giving them a 2nd maybe we give them 8 in exchange we get Tua and 18. Tua Yes or No and if Yes what would you trade for him?

Boston Globe says Watson should remain with Texans.
DaveThePanther2008 replied to SizzleBuzz's topic in Carolina Panthers
You can bet your ass had Watson never demanded a trade that this crap would have never come out until well after his career was over. This is Houston's way of saying, If he doesn't play for us, he'll play for no one. I have no doubt this was started by the Texan organization, none whatsoever. If the women produce evidence, Watson will be destroyed. I'm glad we didn't trade for him and then Houston put this out. -
Go on record. Who still wants Watson?
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Sasquatch's topic in Carolina Panthers
I really don't see a resolution to this case until well after the draft. We need to make a decision well before that. Unless Houston is going to let him go for a 4th round pick, which I highly doubt, this is not the season to get him. We need to go with what we have or move up in the draft and forget Watson. -
Deshaun Allegations detailed (not good)
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Mills's topic in Carolina Panthers
I find it coincidental that this occurred after he said he wasn't playing for Houston again. These owners really think they own people and McNair seems to be ruthless enough to get this started. I'm not defending Watson and it's hard to defend someone when 20+ women came forward and said the same thing. Sadly just like Bill Cosby, he'll go down because volume means truth though no evidence can be had. Regardless, Watson will not be trade in 2021. There is no way in next 6 to 8 weeks that this gets resolved before the draft. -
I love Obada. He has come from literally nothing to a solid rotational player. His story is an inspiration to many potential players in the UK but if he was an american bred player no one would blink twice at his release. Fitterer is betting that no one will offer more than we are offering. If he gets a deal, good for him but with the abundance of free agents. Obada is probably lower tier. I hope we resign him but this is a smart move by the Panthers. If we lose him, we'll find someone to replace him at the same price or lower.
-
I just hope we can get this done as soon as possible. I don't know if the Huddle will survive if we have to wait until the draft. Tepper wants Watson and we'll have to live with whatever we end up trading. Get 'er done. And move on.

Deshaun Watson has lawsuit filed against him by Tony Buzbee
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
As soon as he said it wasn't about money, IT'S ABOUT MONEY. In today's society the accused has to prove their innocents instead of the victim (or supposed victim) has to prove that the accused is guilty. It's sad when a woman can say that someone did something against them and the accused has to fight to keep his name. If it is true that this lawyer has connections with the Texans than this as a nasty as it gets. -
And you base your opinion off of? Fitterer track record with the Panthers? What makes you think they didn't do their due diligence in determining whether they wanted to sign these players. If your going to express an opposite opinion why not back it up with some valid reason other than you are infatuated with Hurney.
-
He's thinking about leaving because they can't afford to sign any other talent because they are paying him a quarter of the cap. You want a winning team stop being so damn greedy. Signing players that can play multiple position. We've had a couple of good ones in the past. Wharton and Hangartner (misspelled?) to start with. I am sure that they didn't drop names in a hat and pull one out. Until they have a bad track record I think we should give them the benefit of the doubt.
-
Too many critics on this forum. So many think that they know everything and that the people that are hired to do this suck. I think he'll be groomed as our future center. Hopefully he can stay off the injured list.
-
To be honest, I think this is the only way we get a QB in the draft. There are many teams that will be willing to trade up and snag one of those QBs. If one team moves up with a team like Cincinnati or even Miami than you can bet at least 4 will be gone. We have to have Watson before draft day, if not, than we need to be the aggressor and make a move. I hate trading up and would rather trade down and get more picks.

Predictions for FA... then draft. By position
DaveThePanther2008 replied to musicman's topic in Carolina Panthers
NFL.com posted this complete list of players that are free agents. I did not see Andrew Norwell from Jacksonville. A lot of good players on this list. https://www.nfl.com/news/2021-nfl-free-agency-notable-departures-for-all-32-teams -
I would love to see him come back. Though an older vet, I loved is nasty temperament and would fill in nicely on our O-line again.

Has Norwell been released?
