Look at the 2021 NFL draft 1. Lawrence - has not lived up to the Hype. Jacksonville is a mess and no telling his ceiling. 2. Wilson - Looks pretty solid but I wouldn't call him Franchise yet 3. Lance - SF made a huge mistake. Hasn't played much and when he did, he got hurt and was running when he got into trouble. 11. Fields - at the moment probably the best QB in his class. BTW I was an opponent of Fields but he's showing he is going to be around a long time. So, I eat a bit of crow on that one. 15. Jones - Not spectacular but has New England 1 game out of 1st. If you had to judge them to date. Fields, Jones, Wilson, Lawrence, Lance. What I take away from 2021 is Tanking for a QB doesn't necessarily answer your problems. The best QB in this draft IMO is Fields. 2022 20. Pickett he's a rookie and hasn't been too bad but not great either. One of their wins was because of Trubisky not Pickett. IMO Trubisky looks much better than Pickett but as I said Pickett is a rookie. 74 Ridder hasn't seen much playing time. I would expect him to play once Atlanta is eliminated from the playoffs. 86 Willis has started a couple of games and doesn't look too good. Time will tell 94. Corral we all know his situation still an unknown 137 Zappe has been up and down but has played well at times 144 Howell hasn't started yet and Heinke is starting ahead of him. Probably being brought along slowly If you had to judge them to date. Pickett, Zappe, Willis, with Corral, Howell and Ridder as unknowns. I don't see Washington or Atlanta scrambling to get a QB in this upcoming draft Though many want a QB in this draft I won't be surprised to see us going elsewhere with our #1 pick or trading down and gaining assets for next year.

Hurney may have had it right and maybe he pulls the trigger on him but FHULE over road him and went defense. That reiterates the "GET IT RIGHT" mentality. Herbert was considered a Franchise type of QB. I don't see one in this draft class. Last thing we need to do is trade away picks, we don't have, for a MAYBE.
-
OK genius, answer me this. What do you think about Trey Lance? He's injured after a game and is on the IR list. You're the GM of SF, do you go ahead and draft another QB because he's still an unknown?
-
And just like in Chess you play to win. You don't lose on purpose so you can play an easier opponent. @Mr. Scot stated. Wherever your pick is. Get it right. Our GM has a scouting team and hopefully they vet all the players based on ability and not hype. I see several QBs in this draft that could be had in the 2nd round and be as good if not better than the hyped-up players ahead of them.

Where am I saying we were tanking? Where did I say I want Darnold to start so we lose? I said, I READ where they may play Darnold. As long as Mayfield doesn't meet the 70% of snaps, we get our 4th and Cleveland gets the 5th. You're nitpicking and trying to make it sound I am back and forth. I'm not. Grow Up.

HC is possible, franchise QB (in this draft) I doubt it. I find it funny that so many of you attack the anti-tanking group as if you're right and they are wrong. This team isn't going to tank. I don't know how you expect them to tank. Outside of the NBA, most professional sports teams play hard until the last whistle of the season. I'm an anti-tanker and hope we win as many games as we can. The QB position will work its way out. There are several QBs starting to show they can play in this league. It isn't just Young and Stroud and the rest.

If Young and Stroud are gone
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Chris Smitty's topic in Carolina Panthers
I mentioned him last year when he was playing for Indiana. He was really impressive with a crappy team. I would love him on a day two pick to compete with Corral. -
Better idea than Tanking for a QB.
-
What part of the players aren't going to tank for a draft pick. You consistently bitch and moan that we win a game. Tanking is a term for Fans. Yeah, I get you think that one of these QBs in the 2023 MIGHT be the answer. They might not. You realize if you pick the wrong QB in a draft you set yourself back 3 or 4 years. Franchise QBs aren't available every year. Games are meant to be played to win. Not lose so the Huddle can start planning our next QB.

That motion sweep pass to Shenault
DaveThePanther2008 replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yes, I agree. I love watching him once he gets the ball in his hands. He runs hard and breaks tackles. I just wish we would get him the ball more often. A good Offensive minded head coach or OC will figure out many ways to get him the ball. Props to Fitterer for trading for him. -
Yeah, Thanks Atlanta. Also Mariota looked like a All Pro when we played them in Atlanta. Last night he looked like total Garbage. He missed so many open throws and we should have had a bout 4 picks.

I LOVE the uniforms tonight!!!
DaveThePanther2008 replied to ladypanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I liked the look. I wish we would play with that uniform more often. -
In a normal situation I would agree. Corral preseason was not normal and it is the exception. He was given very little reps in practice. Secondly, his second game was far better than his first before he got hurt. This is what makes your argument flawed. I think if you give him valuable reps he'll show he's worthy of leading this team. I guess we'll see where we end up in the draft and see what we do. I won't be surprised if we trade down and gain picks or take BPA in an area of need.

Brown is playing at a Pro Bowl level. He's a monster and had a great game.
-
I love that this team bounced back after a crappy game against Cincinnati. I really thought with C. Patterson back in the line up we were going to get run all over. Our defense really stepped up. Go Panthers
-
I don't see it as hyping him up, I see it as believing he could very well be the answer that we are looking for. It is so easy to discount a player that was injured before he ever got a real look. I put 100% of the blame on Rhule. He had zero intentions of ever giving him a chance. Part of me believes he wasn't going to give him a chance because he knew we would be in this situation if we fired him. Why develop a guy that you are never going to use. He wanted Mayfield, gave a bogus competition between him and Darnold. He achieved his goal because now we are in the situation where we have a complete unknown in the one position, we need the most. It leaves us to decide whether to draft a QB or believe he is who we thought he was when we drafted him. Our next QB.

4 Free Tickets for Tomorrow Night
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Seltzer's topic in Carolina Panthers
I would have loved to have them. Every time I am in the states I try to go to a game. Sadly, I have to get up at 4am and watch the game on AFN. Thanks for the offer though. -
Probability Analysis of the Burns and DJ decision
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Evil Hurney's topic in Carolina Panthers
I would also interject that these 1st round picks that we would have gotten are going to be mid-20s or lower. Last year, the draft had only 16 players with 1st round grades. Of course, every year is different, but those players are, at minimum, going to be low 1st round or 2nd round values. Many devalue Burns but those types of players are so hard to come by. You trade him away and our D-Line is much less effective. -
@JawnyBlaze Posted a good video analysis on B. Young. I think those that pass on him are going to regret it. His size is questionable but, I don't think it is going to change his production. If you forced me to take a QB today. I would have to say Young is at the top. It's a huge gamble but his upside is pretty impressive.

@Mr. Scot check this out
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
I haven't dwelled into the potential head coaches but this guy is probably at the top of everyone's list. Tepper better open his freaking checkbook to get him. Philly did a great job in the draft last year got some studs that are under contract as rookies for the next couple of years. Hurts looks really good considering how he was a couple of years ago. I agree, with you he calls a good game. -
I can see a new HC wanting one of these QBs. I believe that whoever comes into the QB is going to have to compete with Corral for the position. Regardless of draft position. I would assume we are also going to have a veteran in the mix as well. It's a huge gamble that could be quite embarrassing if we use a 1st round pick on a QB and he can't beat Corral in a competition. So many want to believe that it's going to be automatically the rookies job just because he was drafted higher than Corral.
-
The realism is Corral got injured on a freak play. The realism is Rhule didn't give him any quality reps. The realism is draft position means nothing after you've been drafted. The realism is you have no idea what the new coaching staff sees in Corral. The realism is that Corral has all the tools to be a good QB and just needs quality Reps to prove it. The Hating is that many of you want one of these QBs in this draft and nothing short of it is acceptable. The haters cannot and will not believe Corral could be as good, if not better than those in this draft class. The haters believe he has no shot whatsoever. I've said before, We'll have to wait and see what we do in April. If we go QB that's OK with me, if we trade down and get an extra pick somewhere that's ok too. Maybe we use our first pick on a different position of need. (this will get you haters in meltdown mode) and use one of our 2nd round picks for a QB to compete with Corral. The difference between you and me is Corral was chosen by Fitterer not Rhule and that the talent is there, and the value was there too. Corral has all the tools. BTW, had it not been for his unsubstantiated claims of off the field issues he would have been a much higher pick. Also, there were several talking heads including former QBs that had Corral as the best QB in his class. Arguing with you over this isn't worth my time because you want what you want and to hell with what's best for the team. For you it is QB only with the first pick, while I am open to different avenues to get a better team on the field NOW.
