  1. Those that say Wilks is like Rivera, can also say he's like McDermott. They come from the same tree. McDermott is 55-33 with playoff visits all but one year and looking like the most dangerous team in the NFL. McDermott is a motivator just like Wilks. You don't need an offensive minded head coach if he can't motivate. The key is getting the right coordinators. Good draft picks and good Free Agents. Rivera and Fox did a great job motivating their players. The problem was after Dan Henning left, we never seemed to have a good OC. I would like to see Wilks with a new OC. He's changed McAdoo around and we actually look like a competent offense. Imagine if he has someone that can work eye to eye with him. Bringing in an offensive minded head coach does not automatically make this team better. Replacing Wilks could put this team back even further than we want. Your head coach needs to be a motivator. You can be an offensive genius but if you can't motivate your team, you won't be a head coach for long.
  2. The one good thing about PJ is he knows the system so allowing the Rooke and Corral to get good Reps in practice will help.
  3. I'm not saying he's bad QB, I just don't see anything that makes me feel he's going to make the transition to the NFL easily.
  4. He was trailing but his RB had a great run and the defense gave him a short field AGAIN for a score that pretty much put Penn St. away. He had some nice throws including a over the shoulder pass that was right on the money outside of that most of them were wide open any QB could have made those completion. I really think it is going to come down to our scout team review of these QBs. Fitterer and Morgan are going to have to weed through the hype and see who the best of the group is.
  5. Sunday 30 October 2005, 17 years ago today. I can't believe it has been 17 years since this game occurred. It is at the top of my list along with the Steeler game in 96 as one of my favorites. I had the opportunity to be at this game. It was a beautiful day and a historic one for Steve Smith. I remember before the game Fred Smoot was talking a lot of trash. As we learned through the years, that's not a good thing to do to Agent 89. Plus, Minnesota had the party on the boat scandal which SS took advantage of.
  6. After what little I saw of his play yesterday if we selected him at all I would be shocked.
  7. Penn St. defense is giving Stroud all sorts of trouble. He gets real jittery under pressure. He's only lead OSU to one TD on a short field. Our #1 pick isn't looking so much like a #1. Hooker looked much better against Alabama. Here is his chance. 4th Quarter down by 5.
  8. This is not going to happen until Brady starts owning up to some of the problems result from bad QB play. He missed several throws he used to make all the time. The announcers kept blaming it on timing with new players but short and midrange throws he's made for 20+ years and now he misses them. Brady wants to blame everyone other than himself. He is one of the greatest of all time but that doesn't give him the green card to blame everyone other than himself. Also Brady does not have his security blanket that he's had the majority of his career. Gronk. For most of his career Brady has had a TE that was at top tier TE. He doesn't have one now.
  9. Tampa had Goodwin, Evans and Gage at WR and our DBs performed well without Horn. Our run defense which looked to be a weakness against Cleveland has turned out to be a strength. I believe PJ will move the ball enough to keep our defense off the field. If he can maintain at least an equal time of possession our defense will make moving the ball difficult. I don't think there will be a blowout. I believe Wilks has these guys believing they can beat anyone. If McAdoo has a decent game plan we should win this game. It will be a fun one to watch against our I-85 rival.
  10. He might try. lol Double down and Wilks win Coach of the Year.
  11. Win, Win, Win I want Wilks to turn this team around and get into the playoffs. Nothing would make me happier than to see this team make a run at the NFCS title. A great middle finger to Rhule when we do.
  12. Back in the days where all music was good.
  13. This is a good draft class but there isn't one in this class that I would say is a "Franchise QB". I don't think it is as long as a long shot as you believe. I guess we'll see.
  14. He'll be on the roster for sure. I don't see where it's a long shot at starting though. We'll start the offseason with PJ or a veteran on the team with Corral. One or the other. Assuming we change OC, none of the QBs will have a full knowledge of that offense. While Corral might be behind the eight ball if his injury still lingers, I don't see why we won't have a full competition between the 3 QBs on this roster. It's not like we'll have a QB that has been on the team for awhile and is facing competition. I guess we'll see.
  15. You mentioned normally teams won't do this or that. Corral situation isn't normal whatsoever. You've agreed Rhule Fuged him, as do I. I do not believe any new coach isn't going to just shrug off Corral because he wasn't his pick. It's a golden opportunity to have two good young QBs to choose from. You don't know whether either of them will pick up the offense better than the other. That's why you have competition. Let the players decide on the field not on draft status or anything else. In the end Corral might win the job or he could be the 3rd QB. It called competition. This is all I've ever implied. He will get a chance to compete. As far as not being able to practice until August. That is purely based on the timetable of this injury. Many QBs in the past have had the "Not until August" label and yet participate in many or all of the OTAs and minicamps. If Corral can move without pain, he'll be competing. They may be kept out of contact drills and any drill that might cause a reinjury. We'll truly find out when OTAs and minicamps start. Even so, he'll be there and do whatever work he can do to win the job. Come August, he'll compete, plain and simple.
  16. I agree we'll draft a QB but I also believe Corral will be given every opportunity to win the job.
  17. The new Coach will evaluate him as a quarterback on the Carolina Panthers not as a draft pick. Come on, your going overboard with your blatant hatred for Corral. Got it, you don't like him and don't expect anything from him. I'll wait for your mancrush on the 2023 QB list. As I said, OTAs and MInicamps don't give the rookie that much of a head start. You're not Corral's doctor and he may be ready to compete when the new season starts. @Wundrbread33 pointed out that Corral has a full season with the team that is also a benefit, though minor, it still is a benefit.
  18. Totally agree. This is where the HC (Wilks or someone new) will have to truly evaluate the 2023 class against Corral's traits. They may choose to go with that elite position over a QB and take a QB at 32. It's a dilemma that Rhule put us in by treating Corral the way he did.
  19. An injured QB that has as many good traits as any highly drafted rookie QB. It's your opinion and though I respect it, it's not how things will play out. You have no idea how a new coach will evaluate Corral, nor do I, but the fact that we drafted him but our inept coach failed to give him a real opportunity makes it difficult to decide. I'm not saying Corral is any better than those in this draft but I am saying he will be evaluated as one of these picks. Of course, his injury status will have a bearing on it but he'll get a chance to compete, when healthy. You also need to be reminded that the true competition doesn't start until training camp. OTA's and minicamps offer very little contact. We're just going to have to agree to disagree because I'm not changing your approach and you're not going to change mine.
  20. Thanks, you beat me to it. I don't doubt we'll draft a QB but that's all I will agree to. I think Corral will have a TRUE QB competition if we do.
  21. I've said before that Rhule's BS approach in developing Corral would force us to take a QB in this upcoming draft. I get your dislike for Matt Corral and he looked lost in his first preseason game but was doing better in the 2nd before his injury. But I gotta ask. You really believe he got any real work as a QB for this team in preseason? How anyone can say he's not an NFL QB based on the ridiculous way Rhule "developed" Corral. I'd say any rookie QB would look awful with a bunch of "Foot Locker shoe saleman" blocking for him that he barely got a chance to work with in preseason. The awful thing was Rhule's childish way he played or I should say lack of play for Corral. I assume that if, when, we hire a new coach they will evaluate Corral's tape from college as they would any of these QBs coming out in the draft. No new HC in his right mind would believe Corral looked lost because he doesn't know how to play the position. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if the new HC felt Corral was just as good as any in the draft and we go elsewhere with the pick. It's not likely but would be surprised. What I do believe, is we'll draft a QB with the intentions of allowing both of them to compete against one another and the best man wins. They all say draft position means nothing when you get to camp. It's a benefit that a new Head Coach would love to have. Two young and potentially good QBs.
  22. Big game against Tennessee this weekend. You'll be able to see Hooker and Levis. 7:00 pm
  23. 1. Young size is a small issue with me but I love his accuracy. I just hope he doesn't give NFL linebackers and Safeties a chance to rip his head off. 2. Hooker, IDGAF about his age. He's only a couple years older. The guy has everything you want in a QB. We'll be able to see Levi and Hooker this weekend as Kentucky plays Tennessee. The following week Tennessee plays Georgia. If Hooker beats Georgia don't be surprised if he moves to the #1 spot for QBs in the upcoming draft. He's already in the Heisman hunt. 2. Corral I believe Rhule intentionally blocked any development of Corral. He hitched his wagon to Mayfield and focused on winning with him. Why would he develop a player that will be the QB for another head coach. Too bad Tepper couldn't see this and fired his ass in Training Camp. Corral has a toughness about him and his leadership is very good. I want to see him get a fair shot. IMO we'll be pleasantly surprised. 4. Stroud, He's been discussed several times, but I don't see what the infatuation is with him. He wins but just about any QB at OSU is going to win. I just don't care for him much and BTW OSU is one of my favorite College teams. 5. Levis, I don't know much about him but plan on watching the UK/Tenn match up this weekend.
