Our defense held up pretty well in most of our games until the end playing a college version of defense. Expect to see a better defense playing NFL style defense. LAR offensive line is in shambles and Stafford, though he won't admit it, is hurt. Depending on what "reset" McAdoo is talking about we could look totally different on Offense. This would be like playing a team during the 1st week. I'll stick with the positive attitude and leave the Debbie Downer to you.

What might a Steve Wilks staff look like?
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Absolutely but you can also state that Boston College isn't some standard to rate a good OC or not. They are mediocre at best in the ACC. Now if he was terrible with a school that actually has great recruits it would be hard to argue. Chudz has history of running a powerful offense in the NFL. Based on the OP topic Chudz wouldn't be a bad choice. Are there other choices, obviously yes, but staying on topic. I like Chudz. -

Yeah and Boston College is loaded with talent. Obviously, you forgot what he did here. He'd be much better than McAdoo. -
If we somehow pull off an upset this weekend. That could really energize this team. It's all going to come down to our offense coming out of the closet and actually putting some points on the board. Our division isn't a runaway just yet. Tampa has 2 loses and could have been 3 had the refs not saved them on that BS sack.

Why is that such a bad idea? I don't know if you remember our offense with Chudz. Had we had a defense those teams would have been playoff teams. Cam's first two games were over 400 yds passing and Cam was dynamic back then. Shula was supposed to take that offense and simplify it and it was a disaster. Chudz wasn't much of a head coach in Cleveland but I'd take his offense in a heartbeat over McAdoo. -

I would love to see Chudzinski come back. They said his offense was very complex but damn we put up some points. We actually have a defense to compliment that offense unlike we had in 2011 and 2012. -

I would like to see an OC that has had his moments as a head coach and realizes his forte is OC and not HC. This would hopefully keep him from moving on. I know many like to think they are HC material but maybe we could find one who won't move on after one or two good seasons. -
It’s time to do this the right way

Point made, now tell me who is a surefire HOF QB in the 2023 or 2024. Each one of those names minus Stafford are headed to the HOF one day. You can't keep losing to get the top QB in the draft. It's a crapshoot. You have to do your homework and hopefully nail a good QB. Outside of the Mannings and Stafford the QBs you listed weren't top 5 picks. A good head coach is going to sit down with the GM, like Payton did in New Orleans, and go the best route available for a QB. While our next head coach may not hit a home run like New Orleans did with Brees. The next head coach may find that alternative piece until a permanent solution can be found. Carolina did a good job finding Delhomme. He had a great run with us and outside of Cam's years probably the most exciting QB we've ever had. Plus, he took us to the Super Bowl. -
Wilks will bring Professional Football back to Carolina. The deal with Arizona, IMO, he got shafted. You don't hire a new coach because your football team is playing well. Not many new HC are going to come in and become SB contenders in one season. While his offense was terrible, I believe his defense was very good. I just think Arizona dumped him because they wanted Kingsbury and regardless of how good or bad Wilks was they were going to can him. So, IMO, I don't take much of what happened in Arizona as a true gauge of Wilks ability to coach. I think if he wins 6 of our last 12 games, he MIGHT get the interim removed from his title. I would expect a young OC to come in and take over from McAdoo regardless of our final record.

Yes I know. We can always hope and dream. Luke is still young.

Contemplating a return? It's good to see him around again. I wonder what he really thought of Snow and Rhule.

QB Showcase: The Non-Stroud/Young/Levis Crowd
DaveThePanther2008 replied to saX man's topic in Carolina Panthers
That's my concern too. His injury a couple of weeks ago was a simple play. He didn't get destroyed by a defender and still hurt himself. When, not if, he gets sacked by one of these great DE in the league he's going to get crushed. No matter how good he may be if he's on the sideline recovering from injury it doesn't help your team much. -

We need to watch this week's game. Tennessee plays Alabama in Knoxville. I've seen spots of their games and he looks good. I am sure his stock will rise quite a bit if he plays well this weekend. -
Don’t be surprised if Panthers beat Rams Sunday
DaveThePanther2008 replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I am a huge fan and am not ready to watch every game just to lose. I guess I understand the players more. Many of these players only have a couple of years to play. They didn't work years and years to get to the pros to lose. They will fight every game, win or lose. I want to see us play hard and be in every game. If we lose, so be it, we're not better than that other team. But, what happens if we reach .500 by December. What I am happy about is Rhule is gone. Maybe we actually start playing better. I've never given up until we are mathematically eliminated. Nothing changes this year. -

People, as in fans, have given up so they are all ready for the draft. These players have 12 games and they aren't giving up. I don't think anyone in this organization is praying we lose every game. Wilks is going to do his best to win. I doubt we win in the next 2 or 3 weeks but after that don't be surprised if we have a good late November and December. -
This is what we may face. Tanking is a fan term not an NFL strategy. Players don't go out on Sunday to intentionally lose so they can obtain a higher draft pick. Our situation is very bleak, you can bet each player is going to do their best to win the next 12 games. If we lose out, than it won't be because our players didn't give the effort.

Evaluating a QB from schools like Alabama, OSU and maybe Georgia is tough. These schools always have the cream of the crop recruiting. They always have top talent at the skilled positions. All of those players are going to look like surefire starters in the NFL. You really have to wait until the College Football Playoffs to really see who is good and who relies on the great team talent. Stroud and Young may or may not have stellar NFL careers but as of today. I don't see either being "Franchise" QBs.

What is going on with the QB position the next couple weeks?
DaveThePanther2008 replied to GOAT's topic in Carolina Panthers
I stand corrected. His dad did play QB but not the same Tony Eason. My bad. -
Double edged sword. We need draft capital for the new HC (unless Tepper decides to keep Wilks) but if we drain our team of all the talent than we are putting the new HC in a no-win situation.

Key Words "As many" Baker probably leads the NFL in batted passes. -

Wouldn't it be a great story if Eason started and actually looked good. He also has pedigree at the QB position as he is the son of Tony Eason who was one of the 6 QBs taken in the famous 1983 draft class. At 6'7" he definitely won't get as many passes batted down. He might already be better than PJ, who IMO, is only on the roster because of Rhule's love for his former players. -

They may put Baker out there again but IMO they are going to keep him under 70% of the team's snaps. There is no need is giving up a 4th round pick for him when we can get away with a 5th rounder if he plays less than 70% of the snaps. -
There was a tweet or some post that they weren't allowing Brown to do what he does best. I will be highly interested to see how he plays under Wilks.
