Should Carolina Bring In Alex Smith
Captain Morgan replied to Michael G's topic in Carolina Panthers
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter · 7m Alex Smith announced he is retiring on IG. -
just beat a playoff team with all the injuries noted above. Hornets shot like their lives depended on it...47% from the floor, 41% from 3. And another "how do you do" dunk.. That Nurkic is a freaking mountain. If we had a post player like that...

Hornets lead by 18, amazing our well we start without so many of our starters and key reserves. We just run out of gas in the 4th. Give credit to our front office for finding depth, and our coaching for developing those young players. Another sign that the future is bright.
-
Vernon earned the start after his big game...committed 2 fouls in 20 seconds and is on the bench. McDaniels has six midway through the first quarter though, and Hornets up by 12.

No word that they won't so far. Most teams have announced their players have opted out as a team. "The Panthers are expected to begin Phase 1 of their offseason workout program on Monday, according to a memo sent from the league to all 32 teams. The offseason program is completely voluntary except for one mandatory minicamp, which will take place in June. Phase 1 of the offseason is mostly virtual, as outlined below. https://www.derp/2021/4/16/22387222/nfl-carolina-panthers-to-begin-offseason-workout-program-on-monday Joe Person @josephperson · 57m Panthers are among 12 teams that have not yet released a statement on their participation in voluntary, in-person portion of offseason workouts, which begin tomorrow.

If Pitts and Sewell are gone, but Slater and Chase are there....that's a tough choice. I don't think Chase will be, but he has better than All Pro level talent...good chance of Hall of Fame. Tough call.
-
Natalie Miller @Nat_NFLDraft · 44m If I had to rank who the Panthers pick at 8 (Assuming Pitts and Chase are gone) 1. Sewell (if he is there) 2. Slater 3. Waddle 4. Surtain 5. Horn

Durant is back tonight for the Nets, who have the 2nd best record in conference. Hornets are so injured, they decided to let Vernon Carey start and get a chance for some playing time. He hits his first 4 shots for 9 points in the first half of the first quarter. Hornets up early by as much as 14. Won't last, but fun to watch right now.

Colin Cowherd: Matt Kalil and Sam Darnold
Captain Morgan replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
nice find, OP. I'm starting to feel pretty good about Darnold, and I like what Cowherd said him finally getting with a good coaching staff. He's obviously sold on Rhule already. -
Temple WR on the Roster - Ventell Bryant
Captain Morgan replied to SetfreexX's topic in Carolina Panthers
sounds like the kind of a guy that will move the chains on 3rd downs. -
-
Despite the injuries, this is a game we have a chance to win. Need a little something in the 4th.
-
Natalie Miller @Nat_NFLDraft · 45m Carolina will likely take Justin Fields if he falls to 8. The question is, will he get there?
-
I'll say though the Lakers were injured as well, our guys hung with them into the 4th quarter.

Captain Morgan replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in 2025 NFL Draft
Albert Breer @AlbertBreer · 14m So to recap, teams that we've confirmed as slated to be at Ohio State QB Justin Fields' second pro day (picks in parantheses) ... • Jets (2) • 49ers (3) • Falcons (4) • Panthers (8) • Broncos (9) • Patriots (15) Also, as we've said, NFL coaches will run the workout. -
Report: CB AJ Bouye close to deal with Panthers
Captain Morgan replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
details... Bouye joined the Panthers late last week, agreeing to a two-year, $7MM pact. Bouye will receive $3.5MM fully guaranteed. That will tie him to the Panthers for the 2021 season. https://www.profootballrumors.com/2021/04/malcolm-butler-a-j-bouye-expressed-interest-in-joining-cowboys Good deal. -
Atlanta bullied our skinny bigs. That is the game plan against us from now on, and there is not really anything we can do about it. Our guys are getting pounded, scraped in the face, some stuff very close to crossing the line. We haven't retaliated ... yet. Until we get some guys back, we're going to have to rely on 3s. We could do that with Monk, Ball and Gordon a lot of the time.

subscription required, and I no longer subscribe. Anyone want to tell us what the nightmare is?

Here's the report that said we picked up his option. Not long after Adam Schefter at ESPN reported that the team is trading three draft picks to the Jets for Sam Darnold, Jonathan Jones at CBS Sports reported that Carolina will in fact exercise Darnold’s fifth-year option. https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2021/04/05/panthers-picking-up-sam-darnolds-fifth-year-option/

Alaina Getzenberg @agetzenberg · 2m Matt Rhule gives Panthers salary cap manager Samir Suleiman credit for "maximizing the limited cap space" the team had, but still making it work in free agency.
-
Joe Person @josephperson · 10s Matt Rhule says Panthers cap manager Samir Suleiman did a great job of "maximizing every dollar" during free agency.
-
Joe Person @josephperson · 15s Matt Rhule says he doesn't take things that happened for players at other places and accept them as hard truths.

Jonathan M Alexander @jonmalexander · 27s Replying to @jonmalexander He said obviously if their need is within one or two picks, then they would likely take that person.
