That’s possible but remember, you also have to beat out the competition in front of you. Levis has elite measurables. At Alabama and OSU I don’t believe he would have beat out Bryce Young or CJ Stroud for their respective starting spots. Regardless of size the player that plays the best in practice typically gets the nod. He struggled to win the starting spot at Penn State hence his transfer. Tons of narratives out there but the rumor I went with was neither QB stood out at Penn State so the coach went with the vet presence. Sometimes a player just is who he is. He’s an above average college QB at his peak, but to be an NFL starter you need to be a unicorn. In Levis’s case I don’t believe that will translate to the possibility of him becoming a top 10 NFL quarterback. I would love to see your in-depth analysis of him though. As previously mentioned I enjoy your perspective l just feel indifferent on Levis.

You’re one of the better posters on the Huddle, but I never understood your fascination with Levis. He forces throws and as analyst look in hindsight at his tape they have trouble understanding his decision making. Levis is athletic with a big arm, but he has awful pocket presence. We have the staff to teach a QB to make better decisions, but you can’t teach a QB to have that sixth sense in the pocket. Of the 4 big prospects he’s a bull in a China shop in the pocket. That’s worrisome and as objective as you are about the other draft prospects your objectivity seems to fly out the window when it comes to Levis. ‘Hey if we draft Levis and I’m wrong about him I will be ecstatic, but I can’t ignore the glaring issues that have been highlighted this season. He’s also the oldest of the big 4 prospects. I don’t see him miraculously growing into a top 10 quarterback with his pocket issues. Heck Darnold had a much better college resume than Levis and he’s only 2 years older.

Man this is a dream come true so far! With all this experience I hope our staff can see eye-to-eye while being open to constructive criticism.

Agreed. I dont want an offensive lineman with our 1st round pick. I prefer AR if we get stuck at 9 or Levis. I’ll let Reich decide which one works better in his offense. Our 2nd and 3rd round picks can cover the guard holes we may have. Resign Bozeman.

Personally I see CJ Stroud and Bryce Young as QB 1 and 2 but I only see Stroud as the one that’s worth trading up for. Bryce is a magician but he’s going to miss games in the NFL. He’s just too small and the pass rush gets even better at the pro level. If we can’t get Stroud by trading up I prefer we wait until 9 and select one of the project guys and keep our picks. We can do damage with 2 second round picks and 2 thirds. We need offensive guard help desperately if we are going to start a rookie QB at some point. Losing both starting guards in week 18 will have an impact into the upcoming season. Let’s not act like Bozeman isn’t the perfect fit for the Carolinas either.

THE ATHLETIC: Potential cap casualties….
Beast_3000 replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
Signing Bozeman is beyond vital. The line all came together when he finally took the reins. I agree with you on Shaq too. A linebacker in todays NFL that can defend the pass at an efficient rate and can tally 135 tackles along the way ? People can deny it all they want but that’s special. The 4-3 capable linebackers in this draft outside the top 3 aren’t that impressive against the pass so I’m torn. -
The QB School : Breaking down AR and Levis
Beast_3000 replied to Your GFs favorite huddler's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’m on board with you. It just screams desperation, which rarely works out. If we can trade down just a tad and get another 2nd round pick then maybe take AR or Hooker we would then have three 2nd round picks to pick the best young quality players available. -
Bruh thank you for just saying it. Losing is for pussies. Anyone with management experience or some sort of leadership experience knows it’s very hard to get people back on the wagon once you lose them. No one wants young talented players out there just for a check. Confidence and belief in your abilities go a long way in any business or sport. At 3-13 team most of the same people crying about our record would not think a quarterback would fix our issues. You just can’t make some people happy.

Yes I’m happy for Baker too. I didn’t see the game but the post game transcript is pretty telling. The Raiders were running press coverage in the 4th. In the post game interview Baker said he was surprised of the coverage. I saw a stat that said Baker was 0 for 20 when down at least 13 points starting the 4th quarter since joining the NFL. In my humble opinion it’s more of an indictment on the Raiders for being over confident.

With 2 weeks to game plan against Von Miller for the Super Bowl, Shula assumes a journey man fringe right tackle didn’t need help. Yep baffling and just plain stupid. I blame the guy from my avatar too.

I really think CJ is going to figure it out. I agree he has definitely underperformed, but you see glimpses of Henderson doing the right thing. He panics a lot in coverage. Hopefully the light comes on sooner than later.
-
Bruh you get it. Levis would set us back two more years and potentially get a good coach fired while doing it.
-
Agreed I have seen him play multiple times too. He crumbles in big moments at the college stage. Those kids typically don’t shine under the big lights in the NFL. Love his big arm, love his athleticism, but he has no “it” factor. I’m pretty confident he would be a mistake.
-
Bozeman Foreman T Marshall CJ Henderson had a nice PBU then a confident pick to set up the field goal. He has always shown athleticism and he has been in position to make the play. He is no longer panicking and the confidence showed today.
-
The more I watch the QB’s I agree. I don’t see a game changer outside of the Alabama kid Bryce. As everyone else has mentioned his size is truly concerning. Another reason I’m okay with winning. If we go QB in round one I don’t a top 5 pick being a bust.

PFF grades from Week 7 win over Buccaneers
Beast_3000 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I really think Henderson is just a confidence issue. He is typically right there in position and he panics or doesn’t turn his head to make the play. I want him to keep getting reps despite his struggle. Little changes and he will have some big plays. -
Now THIS Is A Professional Offensive Line
Beast_3000 replied to Saca312's topic in Carolina Panthers
I get it and I agree somewhat, but Baker was bailing out of clean pockets as the line started getting its act together. He continued to run scared even after he watched tape showing he was bailing early. I think PJ just shows how bad Baker is. PJ gets into rhythm’s sometimes he can be very inaccurate or find a groove like last game. That 60 yards passing last game was in large part due to the game plan. I don’t expect PJ to look like as efficient as he did against Tampa every game. I do expect the line to continue to perform better and better with Campen coaching them up. If we play one of the other guys PLEASE let it be Darnold. He never had this type of line and I still believe he’s better than Baker. Baker should be option #3 on this team. -
If he can turn this team around and win another 6 games he will have gone 7 - 4 without the benefit of putting his own footprint on the team. If he hires the right offensive mind and QB coach he should be given every chance to succeed. Hiring a different head coach could lead us right back down a negative path. It wouldn’t make sense to change.

Peyton Manning on Will Levis and the Panthers
Beast_3000 replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah but Sean Clifford will never be considered close to an NFL talent. I see your point though. Just makes me wonder if we should be concerned about Levis. -
Tanking does not guarantee a good QB
Beast_3000 replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
Based on what you wrote I wouldn’t say you disagree completely. You mentioned several things that have currently hurt our franchise under Tepper and have caused our organizational demise. During the Chris Weinke year or Jimmy Clausen year I still don’t remember things being this low. Jerry was a creep in many ways, but even without talking to the media we could see his vision. Tough nose defensive minded football team that wouldn’t quit. He knew when we stunk and made changes the following season to correct the mistakes that were made. No one knows if Tepper has a vision for our franchise. The things that he says does not match the people he employs or his actions. It’s been 5 losing seasons with this clown and without a clear direction our fan base is arguably at an all time low.
