  1. My comment has nothing to do with LJ. It has to do with Tepper getting his sights set on a QB, like he did with Watson, and being willing to do whatever it takes whether or not it's actually good for the team. And I wasn't excited about Carr. I'm excited about having football people who are actually qualified to judge QB talent.
  2. God I hope not. That means he hasn't learned a damn thing and isn't going to let football guys make football decisions.
  3. GB wants a franchise QB but is happy to let Rogers walk. Baltimore wants a franchise QB, but will trade LJ. It's not all about having a franchise QB. You have to have a team. These teams are willing to let them walk because they believe they can build a better team by doing so. That should give anyone pause to stop and ask why. Rogers needs a Davante Adams type receiver or he throws a temper tantrum. We don't have that. He hurt his team's chance to win in game because he was mad a rookie receiver dropped a pass. He's also on the downside of his career and is contemplating retirement. Those are big red flags. LJ hasn't finished the season the past 2 years, and if the report is true, hurt his team by holding himself out of playoff relevant games because of a contract dispute. Plus he didn't hire an agent, and now is using SAS as a mouthpiece because his mom isn't getting it done as his agent. He's making some very bad decisions IMO and his playing style and injury history doesn't make me want to drop 50m a year for 5 years fully or almost fully guaranteed. If we're going to get a franchise QB, get him in the draft and build from there. Don't take on someone else's problems.
  4. An overpaid drama queen that could retire after a single season and a QB that has missed 25% of the past two seasons that wants to have one of the highest guaranteed contracts in the NFL. Hard pass for both.
  5. Irrelevant. Your examples were Derek Carr and Geno Smith. You're changing your argument now that I've shown you don't know what the hell you're talking about.
  6. These are contract numbers provided by you EXCEPT Geno didn't get 100 mil guaranteed. His actual contract is 105 with 40 guaranteed Carr didn't get 150 mill guaranteed. His actual contract is 150 with 60 guaranteed. LJ's offer was 250m with 133m guaranteed. Someone may offer him 200m guaranteed. Don't care. But if you're going to argue contract numbers to prove your point, you may actually want to know what the contract numbers are.
  7. Yes they did. 250m total contract with 133m guaranteed. The % of guaranteed money is higher than your examples of Geno and Carr. LJ - 53.2% fully guaranteed Carr - 40% fully guaranteed Geno - 40% fully guaranteed https://www.nfl.com/news/ravens-qb-lamar-jackson-turned-down-contract-larger-than-russell-wilson-s-in-key https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/34569529/lamar-jackson-declined-baltimore-ravens-250m-extension-offer-wants-deal-fully-guaranteed-signing-sources-say You're so focused on the guaranteed money you're ignoring the actual offer that was made.
  8. Ravens already offered him 250m with an actual guaranteed percentage higher than either of those 2.
  9. Plus it just makes you wonder if LJ is that level of franchise QB, why isn't Baltimore falling all over themselves to get him inked? I have a feeling there's more to this than just the guaranteed money holding them back.
  10. Or it's going to be 50m a year for a QB that hasn't finished the year the past 2 seasons. Risky either way.
  11. Armanti Edwards was a 3rd round pick. We used our future second, which happened to be the 1st pick of the second round, but he was in no way a 1st rounder.
  12. It would be a very similar situation offensively though. Possible elite TE in Pitts (Andrews) and a young WR in London (Brown).
  13. I'm not saying anything is set in stone. I'm speculating, same as everyone else. Maybe, maybe not. It all depends on what teams are willing to give up.
  14. I don't think the Bears want 9, I think they want 4. If they can get Houston to trade up to 1, then move from 2 to 4, they get picks they desperately need and still end up with 1 of the top 2 defensive players in the draft. They could very well be using our interest to get Houston and Indy seriously into the game.
  15. I think it all depends on our confidence level in the evaluations and interviews of "our guy." If we're completely confident in his athletic and mental abilities, go get him. But don't be backpedaling if it goes wrong.
  16. I Carr could be good with a different coach. Dennis Allen brings him down a level IMO. Just like Rhule brought down everyone who played under him. He couldn't overcome his coaching once. I don't think he does it now.
  17. I've answered you at least 10 times and you don't get it. You'll never get it. You're Daniel Stern in City Slickers trying to program a VCR.
  18. We can covet Carr and still not be up to that level of contract. I think the Saints overpaid. That typically happens early. I'd be more concerned how they're going to build around him with where that leaves them with cap space, I know it's imaginary, and draft picks. I suspect if they hit on their picks well, they'll be laughing all the way to the NFCS title for several years. If not, that'll be a different story.
  19. And that's fine. Our plan A money could have been 140m with only 50 guaranteed. It all depends on how you build around plan A. If it was Andy Reid signing him, I'd be worried. But it's Dennis Allen which brings him down in play level, IMO.
  20. Carr wanted, and got, more than the Panthers were willing to pay. It always happens in FA. Nothing new.
  21. You've asked this and been answered so many times it's ridiculous. It's just never the answer you want.
