Agreed. Paying a rookie that had never taken a snap more than an all pro was ridiculous. There needed to be a rookie cap. Early picks had to work out because if they didn't, the salary cap damage just made the pick even worse.

If he goes for a 4th, I wouldn't give up our 3rd because I don't think he's worth a high 3rd, I'd expect some type of 2-3 year extension for reasonable money as part of the trade. Pay him like a backup, not T2G backup money, and then put some incentives in the contract to pay him if he wins the starting job and actually produces.

I don't know if he has "it" or not. I wonder how much of the idiocy of Gase and his decision making affected Darnold. Having no clear plan or leadership at the HC position would dramatically affect anyone I would think. Some stability would probably do wonders for the guy, and having a coach that acted like he had some sort of plan rather than playing madden the night before. Still, I wouldn't pay a lot for him.

It depends on what they knew and what they allowed. If it was against policy for drinking in the facility for coaches and staff, and they didn’t enforce it there could be an issue. When I was a bartender part of my job was tracking drinks to tables. I more than once had to cut off customers and call taxis. Had undercover ATF buyers a few times, they told us after watching service and trying to have underage buyers. They made our liability perfectly clear about serving too many and what could happen if someone was served then drove drunk.

I have no issue bringing Darnold in for a 4th or lower. At worst he would be a serviceable backup or be cut. At best, with the right coaching he could be a solid starting QB. Not everyone has the benefit of having Andy Reid as their head coach. He has made some boneheaded moves that need to be addressed. But how high should expectations have been with Gase and the poo show he ran. I think he’s worth the gamble.

Supply and demand. 5 QBs considered to be 1st round this year because there are a dozen teams needing one. In a typical year there's probably only 2 or 3 going in round 1.

T2G for Darnold. Yep. I’d do that. Gase was terrible and I’m not sure Darnold is as bad as he has played. The picks were my guess what they will ask for 2 in a high demand market this year. I don’t think they’ll want CMC. The team has a lot of needs and loading up on draft picks is a much better use than adding a RB, even one as good as CMC. And if paying a RB 16m a year isn’t sound strategy, why expect someone else to do it and bail us out.

I'd trade T2G for Darnold but I think 2 is going to be too rich for us to move. I expect they'll want at least 3 1sts or maybe 2 1st 2 2nds and a 3rd or 2.

Prices out here are going up 1% a day. Single wide mobiles are asking 200k and getting it. It’s insane.

I know it sounds crazy but if we could find a way to trade back a couple times and pick up a few extra 2nds I'd be really happy. There's a lot of talent to be had right there. If we aren't 100% on a QB at 8 or don't trade up, the idea of being able to grab Davis, Grant and Mayfield excited me a lot. I think this year round 2 and 3 is where some really good players are going to be able to be had because of not holding the underwear Olympics. I want as many picks in those 2 rounds as we can get.

I want Davis, Mayfield or Humphrey but I’m not sure he makes it into the 2nd.
