  1. Cap space does actually exist, even though it can be manipulated. In order to trade for a player, they have to be able to absorb his cap hit without going over at the time of the trade. If they can do that, then contracts can be re-worked, but they actually have to have the room to complete the trade. That's why we were making all that room before Watson kicked Carolina out of the equation. I'm no capologist, but I guarantee it's going to play a role if we're genuinely interested.
  2. In order to even entertain trading for Rogers I believe we have to have 60m in cap space available just to be able to take his current salary without being over.
  3. One of those reasons could have to do with them having more ads than the Camp Lejeune lawyers.
  4. His development crew has been the elite Urban Meyer, the OOU god himself Matt Rhule, and then the interim Steve Wilks. That's not exactly a who's who. I'm not saying he'll get any better or not, but that is a serious shortfall in NFL coaching right there.
  5. Cooper Kupp was MVP in 21. That was one of the most dominant performances on offense by any WR ever. When they announced it was Rodgers, I figured it was because he was a loud mouth diva. Kupp pretty much carried the Rams to that SB win.
  6. And we rightly should be. It will all come down to the fit, contract length and cost. We can't go into 2023 with a rookie QB, last year's rookie QB, and a PS QB on the roster. We're getting someone. The question is who.
  7. I would too but unfortunately he has to be in the discussion because we have 1 QB on our roster with zero game day stats. We are going to sign a vet. There's the big 3 available, after that a few typical backup level QBs. Even if we traded up, we cant go into the season with Stroud/Corral/Eason. That's just craziness. We're getting someone. It's just a matter of who.
  8. In ways we were. Not based on RB talent but it required McAdoo to design a game plan that was different than snap-qb-cmc.
  9. I've always said Sam's issues are between his ears. My hope while he was a Panther is that maybe the coaches could find a way to help him process the field better. If he's brought back, that will be my hope again. Some guys process information very differently than others. If I try to disect a water system using a board or 2D map, I struggle. Give me an overlay with a few key points, and my mind will draw in the rest. Same information, different ways to get there.
  10. That's what a septic truck and firehose are for.
  11. Getting to video tape the opposing teams practice sure seemed to help them during the first half of one particular SB...
  12. We get a vet regardless of whether we intend them to be a bridge QB or a backup to a high rookie draft pick. There's no way we go into the season with Corral as QB2. It's just going to end up being about maximizing resources to get the most bang for our buck, and future development.
  13. That's debatable. Rumors were it was between McDaniels and Carr to go and Davis couldn't afford to fire McDaniels and one had to go.
  14. Good way to get in good with the fanbase right away.
  15. I really don't want him to be the next Cam. NFL would allow every defense to tee off on head shots then tell him he's not old enough to get the call.
  16. I'm not saying he doesn't hold a share of the blame. I'm saying to look at him and say he's why the Raiders only went to the playoffs once in 9 years is a very narrow minded way of looking at things. You have to look at the overall picture, not just playoff appearances.
  17. https://www.si.com/nfl/2023/02/28/seahawks-pete-carroll-quarterback-2023-draft Despite Geno Smith‘s resurgent campaign in his first season with the Seahawks, head coach Pete Carroll admitted Seattle is mulling all options when it comes to the 2023 draft, including potentially drafting a quarterback. During a media address on Tuesday, Carroll described the Seahawks as being "totally connected" to the top quarterbacks in the draft, via Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times. “We’re totally connected to the quarterbacks that are coming out. This is a really huge opportunity for us. It’s a rare opportunity—we’ve been drafting in the low 20s for such a long time you just don’t get the chance with some of these guys. So we’re deeply involved with all that,” said Carroll. I'd say Seattle might be a wildcard in this draft also. Geno is a one-year wonder at this point and they could be looking to their potential future franchise QB as well.
  18. That's not calling him a good QB. That's calling him poo. You're talking out of both sides of your mouth. He's led the league in comebacks and game winning drives for 8 years. That's an elite stat. Has he only been to the playoffs once because he didn't get it done as a QB, or could it be because the defense or coaches repeatedly failed him? Cam only went to the playoffs 3 times in his career and never had back to back winning seasons as a QB. Does that make him just a good QB? Situation matters when you're talking about QBs. I'm not calling Carr elite. He has some elite traits. Whether those traits are desired here remains to be seen. I want to build through the draft. But I also have to be open to the fact that we may not be able to get the QB we want in the draft or FA and may have to take a different approach.
  19. Entering the season last year, he also led the league in 4th quarter comebacks and game winning drives since 2015. That's not a defense of Carr, just proof that he can get it done when his number is called. I'm not saying I want Carr. Football is a team sport and the Raiders have had some terrible defenses and coaches. Give the man credit where it's due.
  20. Bringing Darnold back may just be to use him as a backup QB only. That's not a terrible way to bring him back though there are better options. It all depends on who gets paid what to go where. We're going to need a vet QB on the roster at some point. We can't go into the season with a rookie QB from the draft and Corral.
  21. Call me crazy, but my personal opinion is to go from 9 to 1 will take 3 1sts, (2) 2nds this year, and 2 future 3rds.
  22. Yeah. I suggested Burns and 9 a month ago, but that all depends on their valuation on Burns and his contract, and whether or not they consider him to be an elite edge guy, not just a pash rusher.
