Much crazier things have happened in this league. If Tepper wants Payton he does have some tools to try to get him. Overpay assets in a trade with the Aints and give Payton the biggest HC contract in history. No it's not likely but I wouldn't rule anyone out prematurely.

Until it's confirmed they are not an option, Harbaugh and Payton are both in this discussion.

Draft a QB in 1st/2nd round, maybe trade up if the new HC (or OC if it's Wilks) really falls in love with a particular guy this draft. Sam ain't the answer, if he'll stay for cheap I'd be fine to keep him as a pure backup but not as a starter or even bridge guy. Let a rookie QB or Corral roll.

I've been extremely high on Koochie and following him for years even in Russia but he's far exceeding my expectations. Frankly, the dude is playing even better than his amazing stats suggest. For like half his starts this year the team was playing like complete trash in front of him and hanging him out to dry. He should have more wins and a higher save percentage. I don't hold any of those OT goals against him.

He's the closest I've seen on the defensive side of the ball to player-coach. Seriously. Peyton was also essentially a player-coach. Brady is trying to be now that he's not under authoritarian coaches in Belichick/Arians; it ain't going so well for him...

Florio is a douche, and just because I hate Tepper too doesn't mean I am going to agree with him on this. Wilks has done fine, but this roster is much better than most people think outside of QB and it's not like we're rolling over good teams... I like Wilks but he ain't the guy long term.

Wilks was here in 2014 when we won the division with a crap record. Hopefully if we do win it and make the playoffs this year it's with a winning record at least. Playoffs at 9-8 would be an incredibly successful season considering the start, Rhule's bullsh*t, and our QB room... I think it's very possible. Lions O will be tough but I think we can win that game like we won today with ball control and pressure/takeaways. Pulling for 9-8 so we have a chance to have back to back winning seasons finally in 2023. If we lose another from here it can't happen until 2024 at the soonest.
