Isn’t this the same as saying what was Watson’s record last year while putting up elite stats?
-
The answer is whichever one you can not afford to pay a long term extension. Unfortunately, that’s probably Burns, but if they’re getting him then I’d only offer two 1sts and a 3rd.
-
I like players having mentors on the team, but I put more of the QB development responsibilities on the QB coach and offensive coordinator. I wouldn’t bring a guy on just as a mentor. Imo, Trubisky’s potential is worth the risk if you can get him for cheap.
-
Great contribution. Can’t wait for your response when Mitch signs somewhere this offseason for more than you think he’s worth.
-
Valid point and appreciate the discussion. I’m not saying we’d be able to pull it off, but with the uncertainty surrounding his landing spot next year and his clear ties to our area, I’d try to secure him for as long and as cheap as possible. His potential, even at this point in his career, is on par with QBs some want to sell the farm for to move up in the draft.

Me? Na, not worked up a bit, my man. Just having fun. You’ll have to pardon me if posters who insist my take is dumb and from a dipshit don’t immediately gain my respect. Especially when the same poster can’t decide in two consecutive posts what he thinks the QB we're discussing is worth, yet is sure my take is horrible. I stand by my statement that locking Trubisky up over the next 5 years for backup QB money would be a positive for the Panthers.
-
Maybe you’ll make up your mind after this thread about how much Mitch is worth. You’ve fluctuated quite a bit here.
-
You think I would have a different idea outside of this message board?
-
I tell ya what, we’ll let what actually happens determine who’s dumb here. If Mitch plays next year on a one year, 2-2.5 mil deal, then I’m dumb. If he plays for 5+ mil, then look in the mirror pal.
-
Ok just read this post where you shifted to 3-5 mil instead of the 2-2.5 in your previous post. Still think you’re off, but you’re already creeping closer to the $5 mil I suggested. So you’re only beef is with the length of the contract. Well, if he plays next year like he played the 2nd half of this season, you will have a steal for four more years at $5 mil per.
-
The kind that thinks he could still be a legitimate top 15 QB in the league. You think Mitch is going to get a one year, $2 million deal? lol at you
-
Pooing every one of you sumbeeches for lacking forward thinking. You have a chance to lock up a starting caliber QB about to enter his prime for a back up QB price, and you’re whining over 5 years? Are you worried he’s going to be less than back up QB material over his prime? That would be the only way your argument makes sense. You’re paying him backup QB money. He’d be one of the best backup QBs in the league over the next 5 years. Anyway, please continue to find more gifs instead of actually forming a thought on what backup QB would be better than Mitch.
-
You honestly think having Trubisky on our team for $5 mil per would be dumb? I guess your prefer Walker or Grier to a QB who may still be capable of being a starter in the league? Tells me all I need to know about your capacity to analyze our QB situation, but out of curiosity, what’s your backup QB plan?
-
Not hard to understand. Trade Bridgewater for a 7th if need be. Bring in Trubisky for 5 years, ~$5-7 mil per and worst case, you bottom tier starter for top end backup QB money while you search for your franchise QB. Here’s the kicker, Trubisky could still develop into a top 15 QB over that contract.
-
Fairly new here, but lol at y’all thinking having Trubisky on a 5 year, $25 million deal would be a bad thing for this franchise.
-
Sign Trubisky to top 5 backup QB money over 5 years. Let him have a crack at starting next year. Best case, starting works out and you have a top 15 QB for backup money for 4 more years. Worst case, you’re paying one of the best backup QBs market value.
-
You *thought* Watson staked his long term future with the team. As the current situation shows, it seems they can leave whenever things aren’t going how they’d like.
-
This guy a Panthers fan? That would be an excellent haul.

CBS 2020 NFL Redraft -- 3 Panthers in first round
ECHornet replied to Tommy Jone's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yea, I don’t understand justifying our pick with we need secondary help, but we don’t select the member of our secondary that was runner up for defensive ROTY. Doesn’t compute. -
No Mac Jones unless we’ve traded back.

Give me Sam Howell over Wilson all day.

Really think 1 of the 4 will be there at 8. Just not sure which one that will be yet.

I would look forward to the years of threads about who we could have had if we had just stayed at 8. -
