  1. I was going to make a thread about him haha. Good call OP. I think he'd totally would be worth it in the 3rd, the 2nd would be a slight reach/or very good...I see him ranked top-60 on many boards. Great route runner and you know he can mesh well with KB with a sometimes inaccurate 6'4+ QB. Not a speedster but has enough quickness along with a route tree and moves to create separation. Just something very smooth and reliable about him. Outside of relying on speed alone for other prospects, his ability to create separation is enticing.
  2. It shouldn't and I can't imagine it coming down to Peat or Perriman. Would take a lot of guys over them that should be available.
  3. I don't know what it is but I just can't get excited about this Perriman kid. As explosive as he is, WRs with dropsies really get to me...especially at over 10-12% rates. Looking at Cooper, White, & Parker..and then Perriman, there's a huge drop off that makes other positional talent wayyy more valuable IMHO.
  4. I actually agree about him regarding fitting with us but I don't agree with him being labeled as a scat back. I guess to each his own.
  5. So are you now saying the likes of Gio and Abdullah are scat backs too? Because there's a difference between a RB that's best used in a committee and just a scat back. Duke Johnson is clearly a homerun hitter at the RB position which is awesome (almost crucial) to have in a committee. Where are you making your distinguishing line that a RB is a scat back v. a shifty, smaller, between the tackles home run hitter?
  6. Bejeebus...if Parker fell into our lap that would be unbelievable. Parker-Ajaye would be my dream 1-2 scenario. Cool draft btw.
  7. Not to mention SB Nation is so clunky and slow, I refuse to open it depending on what device I'm using.
  8. Enjoy picking off Cutler and Pickles in practice.
  9. I find it curious that there's been little talk about Rashad Greene. Minus the FSU WR reunion part, he's a guy that's got decent speed, strong route runner, and helped a sometimes inaccurate QB in the clutch a fair amount. He'd be interesting in R2 or if he somehow falls to R3.
  10. He's technically a FA but they slapped on a RD2-tender and are still working on a deal. Been quiet recently though.
  11. If we draft a RB which sounds like it could very well happen, the question is do we want both a RB4/FB1 and a FB2/TE4 or could we save a spot and just go for one? If we don't take a RB, Tolbert as the FB1/RB3 is still a big asset, if we grab a RB, his contribution level diminishes and it'd be hard to use him for what he is.
  12. The freakout that would ensue if our first two picks were: 1. Carl Davis DT, 2. Paul Dawson LB haha
  13. He still had a decent year last season. Hm...we'll see I guess. Could be a good signing.
  14. Hopefully you're saying this from a current standpoint and not from when Irvin actually went there.
  15. Great points. Also, if we get a 3rd CB to be cemented in this D, that's a huge asset. Especially if can play slot + outside and has that deep speed we really need back there, that's a guy getting in on 60%+ of snaps. Huge contributor. We didn't get Ball and still just have Melvin White, Williams and Byndom behind Norman and Bene.
  16. I distinctly remember that offseason and Watt was rarely in discussion for the #1 pick. It kept going between Dareus, Newton, Peterson, and Green. Not many thought a WR warranted a 1st overall though. Then you had a crowd that actually wanted Gabbert lol.
  17. I'm a fan of offensive playmakers at any skill position. Sure running backs are devalued as a whole but if you have a change of pace guy who can bust out a huge TD run at any time, that's a huge asset especially in a Shula offense. I like Whittaker as much as the next guy but I think it'd be sick to have a physical-but-speedy playmaking RB to add in the mix. We've got an elusive shifty receiving back in Fozzy but we have an opening to fill with a playmaker. Gurley I'm totally ok with in the first but I wouldn't take Gordon. He had large paths paved for him by the Wisconsin OL which is always great so when it comes to hitting a line in the NFL, it's a different story. I really like Duke Johnson (2nd/3rd) though, he's not afraid to bust through the line and find the small creases and make a big run out of it. For being smaller, he's a physical back and took some licks in college.
  18. I hear you on this one. He generated some buzz after his pro-day and would be a great mid-round selection. Same with Rowe. Those two seem quick enough to warrant a legit hybrid nickel-safety DB wildcard. Grant seems to be a really good fit from what I'm reading in places: http://www.ohio.com/sports/browns/ohio-state-cornerback-doran-grant-an-akron-native-proves-he-shouldn-t-be-underestimated-at-nfl-scouting-combine-1.569261
  19. I wouldn't say that necessarily. We address needs in the FA but it sets us up to take Dave's top talent available (albeit I'm sure with needs in mind) when each pick comes. Who's to say that isn't a CB early on given the top heavy talent.
  20. Valid points all around. I guess we'll just have to see come draft time. I just really like this CB class.
  21. Alan Ball added & then removed I also put in links to the pro-football reference pages for our newest players.
