  1. The entire offense was a poo-show. No argument here. But we aren't giving up on the talented players, that's what this is showing. This gives him a second chance while also freeing up space to bring in more help. It's like being the only guy at your job that does the work, but not getting anyone to step in and help. Eventually you snap and stop trying so hard. But if you are a good manager, you know that these workers are valuable and to maximize their output, you need to reward them for their efforts while also making attempts to alleviate their stress going forward. It's just a good business model. If he fails then? Cut bait. But you should try to do the right thing for the people that can and have helped you get you to where you are.
  2. If we give the Eagles a future 2nd for Minshew, you will have made your point. But if we get him for a fair price? I'd say the team is doing their job by trying to be as competitive as possible without mortgaging the future.
  3. Well sometimes people need to be humbled. Hopefully this situation hurt and reality sinks in for Rhule and Tepper.
  4. I believe Robby isn't the issue entirely. Even Steve Smith had frustrations and gave up on plays during the 2010 season with Clausen. It's a business decision sometimes, and it sounds like he wasn't going to kill himself (though at times he got close) for Sam fuging Darnold and our swinging gate of an offensive line.
  5. Desperation would be throwing our 1st round pick at the Falcons for Ryan or something ridiculous like that. We aren't acting desperate because we are exploring our real options.
  6. If a team can build around a Trent Dilfer, a Brad Johnson, a Nick Foles, etc. and win a Super Bowl? We can do much worse than Minshew.
  7. This is the best case scenario. I honestly think Minshew can have a Ryan Fitzpatrick type of career at worst. He is a good QB. Is he great? No. But he can score, he can win, and he can excite a team that has had QB issues.
  8. It was the team assembled around Watson that failed. Watson made the team better.
  9. It was the clear mishandling of Cam Newton and his career that would have lead to this.
  10. People keep dragging the idea, but I say go after Gardner Minshew. He has shown he can play in this league, wouldn't cost much, and would at least add intrigue to the QB room.
  11. Everyone thinks they know something. No one knows anything. The End.
  12. You have been able to name 4 quarterbacks in the past 20 years with any success. That speaks volumes. Frame isn't the only factor, but to suggest that it isn't one is just untrue.
  13. But it isn't irrelevant. Russell Wilson is an exception. There are so many more examples to support the smaller framed QB will fail. Nice try though...
  14. This is an exhausted and incorrect take. Josh Allen is 6'5 Malik Willis is barely 6' They both don't have elite physical traits. Willis and Allen have completely different frames and upsides.
  15. New Orleans really is running some type of Enron-esque financial game. They need to be intensely audited.
  16. You don't crave a filet mignon and then decide you are going to pay a premium price for a cheeseburger because you can't get the filet. That doesn't make sense. It may feed your instant gratification, but would lead to severe buyers remorse...
  17. I agree with the last point. Look at San Francisco as a reference. They have had a surprising amount of success with the QB not being the focal point of the team. Did they draft a guy they like? Of course, and you should do that if the right player is there. But they didn't force anything, sat him a year, and went with Jimmy G despite the fact that everyone knows he isn't a franchise QB.
  18. The goal is not to "energize the fanbase." The goal is to win. And you don't win by swinging and missing on top 10 picks. You better be right. And Willis is not the guy I would gamble on.
  19. A couple of things to put this in perspective if the Watson debacle shakes out with the Panthers losing out on Watson: - Watson's legal and disciplinary troubles are not over. - He does have a history of knee injuries that is worrisome. - The Panthers are not one player away from winning a championship like the Rams were last year. - We are only into the 2nd year of the new GM's influence on the team
  20. The thing with Ridder is that, in theory, all of his downsides are "coachable." He can add weight, he can study film, he can learn defenses, he can work through reads and progressions. But his size, athleticism, and arm are things that you can't coach. For me, it would be about talking to him, his coaches, his teammates, and getting him on the board with my offensive scheme. I would need to know that he has that room to grow.
  21. He has the tools. He just may not be able to put it all together. To me he is the biggest boom or bust prospect in the draft.
