  1. Looking forward to the game. I hope Tyrod heals up well and soon, he's a good guy who's had some bad luck. It was us he was scheduled to play last year when they had that accidental needle slip that could have killed him and set Herbert into the starting role (we did win that one). I almost feel sorry for the Houston Texans fans, too. Man, that team has just been destroyed by bad coaching, bad management and bad luck. We play who the schedule makers set before us, though, so we'll just have to send condolences after that game.
  2. Zylstra came out and caught a pass just about each time he was on the field. There are plays, I'd guess, that are drawn up just for him. Opposing teams see him as 5th or 6th on the depth chart thinking he's just a scrub and worthy of single coverage by a LB or maybe a safety. Truth is that there's a murderer's row sitting in front of him and he's good, sneaky good. Good on him! Enough games like that and we'll sadly be waving 'bye to him this offseason while he goes and gets the big check somewhere.
  3. He did better than expected. The whole line did, including the back ups when they were called upon. It wasn't dominant by any measure, but it was decent throughout. That'll do for now.
  4. We need to work on the run blocking, but if you can only train the line up on one thing at a time, pass blocking was the right choice. With time, they will gain confidence and then they'll begin asserting their will on the other team in the run game.
  5. Endurance is both physical and mental. It's a young team, good coaching can improve it.
  6. Cold pizza for me while I fight pneumonia and my wife and kids are off at the dog show in Winston.
  7. In the easy chair in front of the TV nursing a case of pneumonia.
  8. The Saints beat a Green Bay dumpster fire team last week. They may be nowhere near as good as advertised. Let's get Jameis' TD/INT ratio set back to neutral and win this thing!
  9. We're still crying over Butkey, now Gano and Slye as well? The only Panthers kicker to ever deserve our tears when he left was Jon Kasay. Good luck to Zane Gonzalez or to whoever will replace him. The job's basically yours until you miss a PAT. May you have 10 years here.
  10. Basically, it's like the power rankings. Some dude works up the list and turns it into his editor. The editor then goes, "You're missing a couple of teams. Isn't there one called the Panthers? Put that one in somewhere." The dude goes back and slaps us somewhere into the bottom third of the list with the other forgotten ones and the two really bad teams.
  11. Actually, I'm not sure if our o-line really is trash anymore. They withstood the Jets front four pretty well (and that's a good group). This game should tell us a lot, though, as the Saints are pretty good up front. If they can keep it to two sacks or less on Darnold, that could be a good sign. Last week they were decent to good, but can they hold up with the Saints defensive backs making the routes slower and the openings fewer?
  12. After one game (and a win at that) I'm not ready to give up on this season. Not sure why anyone would and start looking down the road at being competitive next year. This might be the perfect time for our team. We're young and vastly underestimated. And, for right now, we're healthy across the board. Great run game, high potential in the passing game, defense looks promising and we've got a coach that needs to prove something. That can be a recipe for success. Let's play this season out and see what happens. It's a longer year than ever before in the NFL and we could find our young team still has legs as the season nears its end and we face our toughest opponents. No one expected our other two Super Bowl runs, so why not hold out a bit of hope this year? We've got who we've got. And honestly, who we have is a pretty darned good bunch of guys. If the ball falls the right way, that's what you need to win. Win big even. Maybe.
  13. It's a great story and the kid has moxie to spare. If he can stay healthy, he can make it interesting in Washington. They ranked him as the 32nd best starting QB in the league going into this week on NFL.com. They'll have to seriously rethink that for next week's rankings. And Daniel Jones didn't look bad, either. That Giants team, though, just isn't ready for winning yet.
  14. Of course it is, but if the game is still in doubt, you don't sit your best man. And we're going to have a lot of games that are going to come down to the very end of the fourth. Heck, it is apparently required for the Thursday Night Football games this year to go down to the wire. (Monday, too!)
  15. Sure! Let's not say discouraging words, either!
  16. We're going to find out that the Packers were quitting on Aaron Rodgers just like he was quitting on them. The Saints will have a few more Covid casualties before the game. I'm going to take the rare idea that we win in a blow out. Panthers 31 Saints 9
  17. Because once we get past September, the buffalo can roam.
  18. Think Nick Saban wouldn't kill a dude to win a game or two?
  19. Big, big guy playing in this heat and humidity for a full game might not be the best thing for Brown. Not sure that's the reason, but it would be a good one and looking down the long, long road to that 17th game... we can let him slide for a few weeks.
  20. Kim's Convenience (Netflix) Stargirl (CW) The Repair Shop (Netflix, ultimate chill show -- most relaxing thing since Bob Ross) Lovecraft Country (HBO) What If? (Disney/Marvel).
