    Big, big guy playing in this heat and humidity for a full game might not be the best thing for Brown. Not sure that's the reason, but it would be a good one and looking down the long, long road to that 17th game... we can let him slide for a few weeks.

    He did win it but by the time it was won, the damage was done. Remember how Gettleman like was canned in training camp? And they brought Hurney back in because of his familiarity with the system? Ownership just made a hash of it.

    Why do I feel this won't be our last change up this season at K? Good luck to him, he's our guy for as long as he can hold onto the job. It's like riding a tiger right now, one bad buck and you're toast.

    Players play. Coaches don't get paid to keep their best players on the bench. Injuries happen to even the most coddled assets. The greats want to be on the field, you can't keep them off of it and you don't want to see the great being kept off the field. CMC is one of those guys.

    True, but we all know that person who invites you over for a cookout and tries to serve you eye of round steaks. They don't mean to serve you inedible food, they just don't know what is good and just shop by price. There's apparently a fine art of selecting linemen and we aren't showing much talent in that art.

    This Sunday, we will begin the process of returning the Saints to their classic iteration, the pre-Drew Brees Saints. Sooner or later that voodoo mambo is gonna come looking for Sean Payton's heart to settle that debt and he'll be dragged back deep into the bayou.

    Hate to hear of anyone getting injured, but it'll help us for now.

    And that right there is why casual fans never understood the magnificent play of Chris Gamble. Quiet guy who just shut down half the field on every passing play. If Horn ends up almost as good as Gamble, then we're going to be doing great.

    If your worst DB only gives up four receptions for 58 yards and no TDs, well, man, your team is doing well. And we actually saw Jackson in on making tackles. That's a huge improvement for him. Jackson is fine.

    Hope he recovers quickly and fully. He was holding his own out there.

    I'm amazed his guts didn't squirt out like a stepped on tube of toothpaste with those guys on top of him. Tough kid.

    Everyone keeps saying that now, except me. If we post another five win season, they won't survive. If we don't make the playoffs, mark my words, at least one of the coordinators will be sacrificed. Let's not dwell on it and just enjoy the win. Next week will be tougher and more important. This week, we had to kill some ghosts for our young QB. Mission accomplished on that.

    There's more to unpack in the decision making process of that one play than there was in understanding the Snyder vs Whedon JLA directors' cuts. Just all kinds of stuff swirling around there that will probably drive us crazy trying to interpret. In the end, it didn't matter. Probably best to just let it go and move on.

    Our defense was timid last year, old lady-like at times. Yesterday, they did great for the first half and then were fair the second half. I'm going to need more than this to say that he can hold his own in this league.

    We punted from the 33. That means the coach looked over at the kicker and decided that he'd rather just give the football to the other team than risk a 50-yarder.

    Maybe Chase Blackburn isn't very good at coaching kickers. Or returners. Or... could make a big point of this if you wanted to.
