Baker Could Be our “Brees”
kungfoodude replied to Move the Panthers to Raleigh's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well that was an impressive hissy fit. So, back to your "examples." In the Brees Choke Era 2020: 5th in PPG Defense, 4th in YPG Defense 2019: 13th in PPG Defense, 11th in YPG Defense 2018: 14th in PPG Defense, 14th in YPG Defense The examples you cited as "proof" In 2012 and 2015 the Saints went 7-9 and missed the playoffs. So without any defensive help....they lost. That isn't going to the Super Bowl. That isn't even going to the playoffs. Burrow 2021 17th in PPG Defense, 18th in YPG Defense Mahomes 2020(SB Loss) 11th in PPG Defense, 16th in YPG Defense Mahomes 2019(SB Win) 7th in PPG Defense, 17th in YPG Defense So, in the three Brees chokes, New Orleans was an upper half YPG/PPG Defense 100% of the time. They were a top 10 YPG/PPG Defense 33% of the time. In the Burrow/Mahomes SB runs, their respective teams were an upper half YPG/PPG Defense 33% of the time. They were a top 10 YPG/PPG Defense 16.7% of the time. These were just limited examples. If you want, I can easily destroy the "playing to seed" portion of Brees career. That's up to you. -
If they got a no from every NFL team, I think he clearly is. Some of these guys flame out so hard they don't recover.
-
It's not uncommon for 7th rounders to not make a team in their rookie year.
-
Yeah, that is basically what I mean. Also, her source has a bit of a up and down track record for Panthers related stuff.
-
There is a big gulf between getting calls about trading and making a trade. My guess is that Robby is safe unless a big deal comes through. For TMJ, I would be willing to take a 5th or lower for him at this point.
-
I would take that with a healthy grain of salt.
-
Yeah and jumping people in the waiver wire for the kind of guys we are talking about is goofy. There are ample amounts of WR's of the caliber we are talking.
-
I don't see how we don't snag at least a DT from the pool of released guys. It's another roster weakness we could potentially bolster.
-
It's possible someone may pick him up but I don't think he would exactly be a hot commodity.
-
That's a sinking versus floating turds argument, ultimately.
-
Roberts is one of our returners though. Zylstra is a very good special teams guy. I keep trying to find reasons to cut people ahead of TMJ but it's hard. IMO, I would axe Saunders(to PS), TMJ(to PS).
-
So down to: Moore, Anderson, Shenault, Smith, Zylstra, Higgins, Roberts, TMJ and Saunders at WR. I am guessing we cut at least 2-3 more. Any predictions?
-
IDK how many they intend to roll with or perhaps how many they intend to sign/trade foe. I think if they got another position at OL, you have to assume a move will be imminent. As it stands, we only have 9 OL available now with the Bozeman injury.
-
Down to 10 OL. Erving and/or Jordan might be next on the cutting floor, depending on how deep we cut.
-
Well we have nuked the entire backup corps on our RDE depth chart. IDK what the plan is.
-
I mean....we know why.
-
Pretty low, TBH.
-
Tough choice. Zylstra has played well for us in the past.
-
I guess the question is whether he is better than Zylstra. Both are special teams/deep backup WR options. Do you need more than 1 of those on the roster? IDK. It would have been nice to keep him.
-
This is going to be one of the most interesting positions to watch today for us. Not only how many we decide to keep but who we decide to keep.
-
No, it was a 6th, so it was kind of dumb considering he couldn't make the roster at one of our thinnest and weakest positions. Not LS in the 6th or trading for Sam Darnold level of lightspeed stupid but still dumb.
-
6th round draft pick.
-
Yeah, that seems predictable. Just was not an NFL caliber guy.

Panthers trade Dennis Daley to Titans
kungfoodude replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
This feels like the Greg Little trade. Fine work by Fitterer. -
I actually like Mayfield although I don't know if I buy him having an elite ceiling anymore. The real test is going to be if Mayfield can overcome the coaching and lack of depth on the offensive line.
