  1. Let's face it, the Panthers are a little shy of being a playoff team in 2022 so throwing money that will be needed later to develop the team on a QB that may or may not be slightly better than Sam will be a waste of resources. Since the team is stuck with Sam they need to ride out the last year of his contract while Corral develops then regroup and hope the past mistakes the Panthers management made will serve as a lesson and the team can move forward.

  3. Would love have watched the video but looks like it is unavailable.
  4. It's a pivotal year for Rhule, who likely wouldn't survive another season of struggles. But he insisted he's not worried about his job status or the pressure of needing to win big. { "I've said it to you guys all along; if I make this about me, then I'm not the coach I say I am, don't believe in what I believe in," Rhule said at the NFL Scouting Combine, via the team's official website. } {"I'm trying to get the Combine done as well as possible. If you're a coach in the league and you don't feel the pressure to win every year, if you don't feel like, 'I've got to improve the team,' then what kind of coach are you? I want to make the team better." } { "And I want the fans to have something. It's been a while since we've had a team that's better than what we are right now. The only pressure I feel is to be really really good for our players, for our coaches, for our fans. So I think we've done the staff right, now we'll do the Combine right. Free agency, we've re-signed a couple of our own players. Now we'll continue to do that. Be active as much as can in the free-agent market, and hopefully have a good draft." }

Albert Breer of The MMQB wrote in his weekly column on Monday that he expects the Panthers to “kick around the idea” of adding a veteran quarterback. They have already been linked to Baker Mayfield and Jimmy Garoppolo. Nick Foles, who was released by the Chicago Bears at his request last week, is another name to watch. Some people were surprised when the Panthers did not use the No. 6 overall pick on a quarterback. In hindsight, that looks like the right move. They instead took Ickey Ekwonu, who was considered by many to be the best offensive lineman in the draft. Carolina was then able to land one of the top QB prospects in the third round. A report after the first round claimed the Panthers were intensifying their pursuit of Mayfield. However, the fact that they got Corral should allow them to be more patient. They are unlikely to pay a steep price for any veteran QB whether it is Mayfield, Garoppolo, Foles or someone else. The Panthers still have Sam Darnold, who is obviously not a long-term solution for them. The question is whether they consider any of the aforementioned veterans to be a significant upgrade. Mayfield’s already limited trade market may have dried up over the weekend. If the Cleveland Browns are intent on trading him, they will likely have to get creative.
  6. True!! The Cowboys Jerry Jones and the Raiders late Al Davis are prime examples of NFL owners that often made mistakes by being a micromanager.
  7. No wonder the Panthers "Chickened" out drafting him when they had the chance. ha ha
  8. I agree unless someone special is cut that falls right into realm of need..
  9. The Panthers have a good current OL penciled in and will only get better once Ickey Ekwonu gets some playing time gaining him some experience. This is the most excited i have been about the OL at the start of a season in many years.
  10. Hmmm!!! Seems Tepper had a big say in what the Panthers would do when it came time for the # 6 NFL Draft Pick. ( “It really came down to, What’s the right football decision? Let’s not push need. Let’s not be desperate. Let’s make the right football decision for our team,” Fitterer said Sunday morning. “And that was a conversation that was really guided by Mr. Tepper at the time, and Matt and I worked through it with him, and we had all these scenarios mapped out that said, Hey, let’s take the tackle. If the quarterbacks fall, we can always trade up.”)
  11. I really wanted former New Orleans Saints free agent safety Marcus Williams but he has agreed to a five-year, $70 million deal with the Baltimore Ravens. I suppose his high price tag was more than the Panthers were willing to pay.
  12. Especially when lots of pro scouts had him graded as a 4th or 5th rd. pick.
  13. Why would i care what some amateur Mel Kiper want to be writes in an opinion write up about our new quarterback Matt Corral. I listen to NFL Scouts and former NFL Quarterbacks that many called Corral the best pure passer in the 2022 NFL Draft class and had the most solid upside at the next level after he did an excellent job leading his team to a very successful season in the SEC in 2021.
  14. We had what i feel was a very good draft considering we went into it minus our #2 and #3 draft choice.
  15. He looks like a stout, well built "Hog Molly" to me. The kind we need as a present OL backup and future starter at one of the OL positions..
  16. One look at him is all it takes to realize he likes to eat.
  17. Tweet Barrett Sallee @BarrettSallee Matt Corral will have the best career of any QB in the draft, and it won't be close. @OldTakesExposed
  18. "Corral doesn't have the physical advantages that (Pitt QB Kenny) Pickett or (Liberty QB Malik) Willis have but he's a better pure quarterback than either of them." -- Director of scouting for AFC team
  19. I am more than pleased with the way the 2022 NFL Draft has gone. We got the drafts best OT Ikem Ekwonu and now we have obtained Corral, a QB that a lot of draft forecasters had a first round rating on. Two of our needs were filled and it only cost this years fourth and next years third draft choices, moves i can easy live with.
  20. Don't kid yourself, Baker Mayfield is a pro and he will gladly go to any team that pays his salary.
  21. I am just saying this off the top of my head but it would not surprise me if we traded WR Robbie Anderson for a pick or two and then obtained QB Baker Mayfield later. If this happened, i could go along with a present Anderson trade and obtaining Mayfield.later.
