How bad does PJ need to play to be removed as starter?
KatsAzz replied to AlphabetsEnd's topic in Carolina Panthers
To quote former Panthers head coach, John Fox: "It is what it is". -
Simply put, there’s too little control over the outcome of an NFL season or NFL draft for the a "Tanking" strategy to work in the long run. And intentionally bottoming out won’t work in most situations. NFL teams can roll over salary cap space. This is unique in pro sports, and it is a resource that is entirely predictable. I don’t believe NFL teams do or will tank for draft picks. I believe NFL teams are tanking for cap space. By intentionally spending far below the cap, teams can build up a reserve of extra money that they can then use during a window of contention to keep their team together or supplement it with good free agents. This roll over cap space is entirely within a team’s control and it has an obvious benefit. I believe this is the new way forward in the NFL for rebuilding teams,

If UNC QB Drake Maye, who has area roots, comes out for the 2024 NFL Draft as expected, I am all for drafting him, even at a high cost. Next year may prove me wrong but currently Maye is showing the talent needed to become a good starting NFL QB with potential star status.

Not only was this a win but it was a win against the Falcons.

I will be pulling for Matt Corral to make the team next year in some form or fashion. However, considering that leading up to the injury, Corral wasn't having a particularly sharp showing, he may have an up hill to climb.

Brugler: Next year's quarterbacks "not universally loved"
KatsAzz replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I would say forget it because it would set the team back so far it would take years to regroup. -
Brugler: Next year's quarterbacks "not universally loved"
KatsAzz replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Each year the QB class the following year seems projected to be better than the present year. -
If the Panthers started Sam Darnold, it would probably be their bad luck for him to somehow manage to win a game or two and screw the team out of a choice draft position.

Time to bust out paper bags on heads at the Thursday Night game?
KatsAzz replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Make sure you use an extra large garbage bag so you can use it as a poncho in case it rains and will also help drown out the noise of fans laughing at you. -

Wearing a bag on ones head as a method to protest will only make one look classless and have no useful purpose, in my opinion. This is something Saints would fans do and there is no way I would want our fanbase to get a reputation like theirs. -
Hmmm!!! Looks like the Panthers are having kicker tryouts after all.

Translated : ("Trust the process and my decision making" means Wilkes will do what he is told by higher ups in the Panthers Headquarters.

The chance at obtaining the 2023 # 1 overall draft selection looks better every week.

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Sure,all negative energy!

Hmmm!!! That was an interesting article, to say the least. Now, let's see what happens to the Falcons this week.

It is hard to call the Panthers parting with a player as talented as McCaffrey a winner, but that seems to be the case. The reality is that they will soon be starting over with a new head coach and could be staring down a significant overhaul. Holding on to a running back who has missed 23 games since the start of the 2020 regular season does not help; nor does having his contract on the books.

If the Panthers don't get a QB this year then UNC's Drake Maye be someone to look at down the road.

Quinten Johnston in the 1st, then Max Duggan in the 2nd.
KatsAzz replied to UpstatePantherfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I agree that the Panthers need a # 1 / # 2 WR to pair with D.J. Moore and Quinten Johnson is my choice as the Panther # 1 draft selection. The top 2 or 3 QB's will probably be off the board when the Panthers draft, so they could probably trade back a few spots in the draft order, pick up another draft choice and still be able to select Quinten Johnson.. Quinten Johnson : So far in 2022, Johnston has 38 receptions for 574 yards and three touchdowns. He flashed in 2021, catching 33 passes for 612 yards and six touchdowns. Sources from around the NFL are high on his skill set. "He's 6-foot-4, 215 pounds and can win on all three levels. He puts up 20 yards per catch, runs great routes, is super smart, an alpha, and the hardest worker on the team," according to pro scouts. While Johnston still has more to prove with pro evaluators, they are high on him across the board. He could end up being the top receiver prospect for the 2023 NFL Draft. -
Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder has been under pressure to sell the franchise for a long time now. It all came down to this after it was revealed Snyder endorsed a toxic work culture around the franchise. Due to this, almost every other owner in the NFL wanted Snyder to leave the NFL and sell the franchise.
