The only good thing about going with Wilks is he has already coached the team for 12 games so if he isn't winning at the end of next year then he is firable because it will be like his second year with us. Just clean house and hire a consultant so we have a chance at ever hiring a good coach.

Report. Panthers pivoting from Shane Steichen
Waldo replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
It brings in a lot of room for questions. Unfortunately we have to wait and hear what went on in the process but the candidates left standing are all weak ones IMO. -

We have no idea what the reps of the team are saying in these interviews or what they are requiring of the new HC. The fact David and Nicole are directly involved makes me wonder if we may just be giving terrible interviews...well that and the remaining list of candidates. -
The guy who hired and paid that idiot is interviewing and qualifying the HC options in this search with Nicole added in lol. Who needs a Hurney when you have 2 Teppers...
-
Hurney wasn't the one that traded for him or gave him the 5th year option unfortunately...
-
He gives good interviews...

They both were on teams doing good enough to get a look at HC but neither looks good on their own. Is Moore better than Hackett? Sure. Good enough to matter? Nope. More similar than different.
-
He comes from another sh$t franchise, his playcalling is unimpressive and he was the worst OC we have talked to this offseason.
-
He does not look like a good candidate just like Hackett. He looks more like a Doresy in playcalling, not good enough and I am happy to leave him with the Cowboys.
-
Yuck. Moore is a Hackett waiting to happen. Wilks shouldn't survive more than a year with his approach. Riech would be 2 years.
-
It's lose lose either way. If he didn't then he is a wet noodle GM and if he did then he was part of the problem.
-
We probably can do better but it's too late this year so he is getting another shot. If we hire a dud coaching staff then it's clean house and try again.

Which candidates would YOU interview in round two?
Waldo replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
He is very meh for me. Visiting the past and continuing to watch the NFL move into the future without us. He like Reich is a coach I would rather have around not as a HC. -

Steichen, big drop to Kafka and then a bunch of variation of failures. Moore and Dorsey look more like a Hackett then a Daboll. Wilks, Reich and Caldwell would likely be very mediocre and boring. Fug Payton. -
Or spend half of that and just find a QB in the draft.
-
Much rather have some Dline help or just trade back then any DB. Really not impressed with what we have gotten out of what we have spent on CB recently. First move Jackson for a pick or find one in the 3rd to 5th range that can contribute regularly before shooting for another top 10 CB pick.

Matt Waldman's Breakdown of Anthony Richardson (QB, Florida)
Waldo replied to Lemory's topic in 2025 NFL Draft
Manages the pocket well, tracks defenders & receivers and has a high ceiling? Sounds great. -
Dorsey is exactly who I thought he was and McD is going to be a great DC somewhere if he doesn't overcome losing Daboll next year. Dorsey ain't it.

2 then 1 and nope to the rest.

I am rooting for the GIANTS tonight and you should too!

I respect him and his crew but I only cheer for the Panthers in the NFL. That team is only limited by their roster so I don't even think they need any luck at this point. I wish Tepper would build that type of team and not the splashy garbage that keeps circling him. -
Lance has lots of talent but he is also not healthy and needs a ton of coaching. It's really concerning that he couldn't find that in SF with that crew and that they would dump him for a 3rd at this point. I think it's the last part that makes it a pass for me. I would just rather take a shot on an unknown from school than a known with that many bad NFL sized red flags.

Sean Payton’s Panthers interview is on hold
Waldo replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
Maybe or maybe not. Wilson looks awful and like his head grew a couple of sizes with his new contract. His contract is fully guaranteed so expecting him to go back into prove it mode is a tough sell for me. Payton could bust just like anyone we hire. No one is guaranteed to work out because until they try we just don't know. What is known is that no SB winning coach has won another SB with another team in the modern NFL. We have also seen a good HC come here and fail. Lots of posters just assume he will be great when hired, I think it's not at all likely and that his best days are behind him. What made him so good in NO to turn it around was hunger that comes with someone who has to prove it and he was leading the NFL in strategy and innovation on and off the field which stagnated his last few years in NO. So yeah if they go all in on a SB run and he doesn't go back to 2009 Payton then it's entirely possible it turns into an expensive pooshow. The fact someone is going to pay him $20 million a year, give full roster control and expect results immediately is going to ramp up the possibility. Worst case on Payton looking good is Houston with the #2 pick but the last QB he drafted that he liked was Hill lol. IDK, I want to see him fail but I also think he will. -
That sounds amazing and I would love to see it in Denver.
