I don't want to give any hope to anything until we have better people in charge. This crew hasn't put people in the best spots to succeed so Tommy could still become a beast for sure.

I 1000% expect to be blown away by the awesomeness of it all. I am sure I will be excited to give my money away by September...lol

Anything and a lot of not good is possible. There is a lot we don't know that could factor into what Rhule does. Is he given a real ultimatum? Or is he out there doing Rhule stuff? They thought they built a good oline last offseason, good enough to ignore oline way more than they should have ever allowed. So what has really changed other than the obvious public criticism? The level of dysfunction that the organization is running with looks to be growing. Hell throw in the new rockstar OC's influence that could be built into taking the job. Positive or negative, looking at the candidates I expect negative but you know broken clocks being right and all. What about the other people in house trying to distance themselves from Fhule's rule? It's chaos right now and a lot is possible, even the WTF options. There is what I would love but really a lot more is on the table...I just discount great decisions because that is not a standard deviation at this point in the 5 year process.

I'm not sure a rookie QB is what any HC wants in a must win year with a seat that on fire, especially when you are picking a developmental QB. By that logic I expect them to take a player that they see as contributing over being a project so the need to value may be way off in their minds. Desperation usually doesn't lead to great decisions from people making poor decisions that led to the desperation. I will belive they can fix the oline when they do, I have serious reservations about believing they can. Getting rid of Elflein completely would be a good start in my eyes.

It was time and Ron had a really rough last season here. The fact is that Tepper is a new owner and they usually perform very poorly while making mistakes where they either learn or don't. Unlike coaches, they are not getting fired. It was discussed as a likely possibility when Tepper bought the team. If I had to wish I would wish Tepper would learn faster and not disappear like a fart in the wind when it gets this ugly.

Just like at OC, who is desperate enough to come here to watch their careers die. Whatever, just don't trade for another QB and don't give more than a 2 year deal not backloaded.
-
This is also a great way to hire an OC to save your job if you are new to how the NFL works...just lol It's like his mouth is his shovel and every time he opens it he just keeps digging a bigger hole that he will never dig himself out of.
-
In a way he is right, in a terrible leadership way. He hired a bunch of losers and he pushed Tepper to hire other bad options. Here we are, they all are terrible. Group effort and him taking no responsibility just drags other people that are doing poorly also into the blame. Great, bring them all down with you Fhule. Just lol.

Dave, If your going to run the Panthers like this then please hire someone competent outside of your current mess to show you how to hire better people and to do that job. Then you can be invisible and we will all be happy. Thanks and fug you, W

Did Matt Rhule even really want to be coach of the Panthers?
Waldo replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Probably sure. He obviously knew little about the NFL so that's fun. I get the angle and I'm sure it's part of the bigger mess but everything about Rhule's ego led him to belive he could do here what he did in some blah level school programs. The money just made it an easy mistake to make. Now I wonder if even decent schools would be like 'hard pass'. Yes I understand how easy it is to get a HC position somewhere at that level but it would be hilarious if he had to go back to the bottom to get back to his middling level of coaching before here. -
Full circle. Just beautiful. Sam did play better with Gase...

I love Gilmore, he was a bright spot this year. It's just a waste when we have young guys that need to improve with as much playing time as possible. We have wasted so much cap already next year and Reddick is higher up on the must try to keep list.
-
Smart play is to let Gilly go find a contender and to develop the young guys on their rookie contracts. We are not competing for anything next year outside of the #1 pick. This year would have been a great chance to play a CB at FS but now we can just go with a rookie, we missed that chance to play Burris when healthy this year while making Chinn play out of position to cover his butt.

Final Defensive Rankings for the 2021 Carolina Panthers
Waldo replied to trueblade's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yup, after week 3 the fantasy died. Just run left and enjoy the yardage. -

So anyone can run on us and they don't need much yardage on offense to still win. Cool. Anyone calling this the #2 D has severely lost context or just didn't put any effort into that analysis. -
Panthers OC candidate is Not a fan of Sam Darnold
Waldo replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
For them, sadly no. For us fans? Yup. -
It would be a good move for them. There is a lot of BS around candidates and players but Hackett looks legit. I just don't know anything about the Vikings anymore. The power dynamics and putting people in positions to succeed is so hard when looking at HCs and GMs, and then you throw in the curve balls from ownership.
-
It's also important for the context of how bad we are and are doing right now. I get it and thank you for your work. People will buy into the BS this year, I am not but I still like the idea that 2023 can be a lot better...just in case we get to hope again.
-
He shouldn't even be on our roster in 2022 but Rhule is still here. Hard pass if we were serious but I'm all for it. Let him play us into that #1 pick please.
-
Certainly more fun than talking about trading for Cousins but also a lot less realistic. Have we even talked to 1 OC candidate that could be described as a good yet?

Panthers OC candidate is Not a fan of Sam Darnold
Waldo replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I already see some people returning to the normal offseason gear and I am still laughing. I am not hoping to get better, I am hoping we don't ruin next year or worse. That is it. Don't trade future draft capital and I am as happy as I am going to get. It's a clear lame-duck year for our HC. How does everything we do affect 2023? That is really all that matters right now. -
Use the dookie we already over paid for, this fixes nothing except making another mistake to cover up the last one. Who is a free agent that would want to do a prove it year? That is who we should be talking about. As a free agent? Maybe. As a trade? Fug no. That ship sailed and sank now it's blocking the harbor.
