  1. This is what I've been saying. Yes, he's thrown 2 picks, but he's also shown more flashes today than we've seen so far. That's how rookie QBs develop, not by handing the ball off and throwing bubble screens every other play.
  2. Between Chuba and Laviska there's no reason for Miles Sanders to touch the ball again this season.
  3. Yeah, I hate to say it under the circumstances but it's true.
  4. Why kick a field goal there? Show some balls.
  5. Yeah, at least he was trying to make a play. I can live with those as long as he learns from them. The screen pass INT was MUCH more frustrating to me.
  6. You could say he's MILES ahead of Sanders... Sorry; trying to find something to laugh at during this mess.
  7. Can we please run the ball just ONCE out of a formation other than shotgun?
  8. Damn, this must be real serious. Is Zavala moving? I didn't see anything obvious.
  9. I'd honestly rather take the chance of more INTs than continue to play this dink-and-dunk conservative style of offense.
  10. 1) I agree nobody after the 3rd round should be considered a bust, which is why I called that category "Busts/Misses." You can still miss on a pick without the player being a bust. 2) The point of this was to analyze the GMs, not make one look better. Personally I'm not a Gettleman fan, but he was the best of the three in terms of drafting after the 1st round. Unfortunately he's also the best at missing in the 1st round. He's also the worst in terms of overall team building and management of the roster, IMO.
  11. Mostly just my opinion, but I tried to be as broad as possible so the results would be as objective as possible. Basically the formula I used was: PLUS STARTERS: Good, great, or elite players who became key starters for us. SOLID PLAYERS: Decent players who were starters for an extended period of time or played key roles for us. CONTRIBUTORS : Players who were lower-level starters or who provided solid depth/special teams value. BUST/MISSES : Players who never contributed much of anything or anything at all.
  12. The numbers tell a different story. So do the number of wins. In that category Fitterer is by FAR the worst.
  13. Check the spreadsheet link; it has each player color coded. No, trades were not considered. This is purely based on draft success after round 1. 14. Y'all realize D.J. would be putting up Adam Thielen numbers if he were still here, right? The OL is a FAR bigger problem than WR so far.
  15. He'll be freezing up at the podium like Mitch McConnell before that happens.
  16. With all the talk lately about possible trades for a WR and Scott Fitterer's draft record I wanted to do a little comparison between him and our other two most recent GMs. In particular I wanted to look at their performance AFTER the 1st round. Basically what I've done is give each player drafted a color grade based on how they turned out: PLUS STARTER SOLID PLAYERS CONTRIBUTORS BUSTS/MISSES I also added a couple of others that are specific to each GM, such as for players like David Gettis (possible hit/injury), Harrison Butker (hit/cut by Hurney) and one for good/solid players we drafted that never did much here but ended up playing well elsewhere. I then calculated the percentage of players drafted by each GM in each category. Obviously Marty Hurney was here far longer than Gettleman and Fitterer combined so that has to be considered when looking at the raw numbers, which is why I calculated the percentages. I did not include any players from this year's draft class or any UDFAs. I put a spreadsheet together with the full list of players for each GM; you can view it at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1nbLVIrDWpvDnN5zK1e2M1XEzAMfxnOQhTX6PFvq2FoA/edit?usp=sharing My basic conclusions? Hurney may have been a little better than he's given credit for after round 1, but Gettleman was the best and Fitterer, well... ick. As Dennis Green would say, he is who we thought he was. I'd like to see how these numbers compare to league averages, but that would require a little more time and effort than I want to put in right now. The results are as follows:
