I believe that is right.

I like him a lot. Hopefully we can keep him around for a while, but I think he will be getting a HC job before too long...

It's weird because Corral and Young don't look much different in size here. According to Fitt Corral is up to 220 and he was what 6'2"? https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/04/20/scott-fritterer-matt-corral-is-ready-to-compete/

I think Darnold last year with a good OL and a decent coach was peak for him. 1143 yards 7 TDs 3 INTs. It was an incomplete season but it was designed for him to limit his mistakes much like you would with a rookie. He did it over 6 games so that make it on track for what? 3200 passing yards, 20 TDs 8.5 INTS. Better play from a rookie would be a nice start. Lower INTs, More TDs, and More Yards. I am not arguing if he sucks because I don't think he is a starting QB in this league, I am saying if we get better play from our rookie than Sam had last year it would be a nice start. The theory is the rookie gets better while Sam was on his 5th year.

Mahomes has twice as many Super Bowl victories at age 27. He has a great TE but not many other weapons on offense this year. Mahomes is already better than Favre IMO. He is going to be competing for a Super Bowl as long as he stays healthy every year. The only stats Favre beats him in are the ones that are cumulative because he has played longer and even considering that Mahomes is tracking to beat every one of them. I'm sorry if Favre was your childhood hero, but Mahomes is looking like the better QB. https://www.statspros.com/brett-favre-vs-patrick-mahomes-stats/

Mahomes already has 2 Super Bowl wins and didn't try to defraud a state's welfare system. When Favre does that you can @ me. Oh and Mahomes is only 27....

Between the Zack Wilson, Corral, and Mitch comments he is just saying things to go against the grain and make some headlines.
-
He loved some Zack Wilson too. Didn’t he say he was better than Lawrence?
-
Rookie year Young being better than peak Darnold would be a nice start. Throw in a better offensive staff and it would make for OROTR.
-
Does he have Corral above him? Simms loved Corral.

I get that but CMC had availability issues here and we still got a nice return for him. I know he is a tier above Cook, but the talent is definitely there. I didn’t know about the fumbles though. None of these big contract RBs have really worked out…
-
I saw where the Vikings might release Cook post June 1st. That’s crazy he is still a great RB…

Definitely Chark, I think Thielen is the vet/semi coach on the field for the WRs and he is very reliable on 3rd down. We are counting on him the next couple years while our young guys develop.

I mean the team that drafted Stroud wanted Young over him to a degree in which they called Chicago and were going to trade up from 2 to draft him. I was a Stroud guy, but that really got me pumped about Young when I read that.

Monty Williams is now available… https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/37644346/sources-suns-dismiss-coach-monty-williams-4-seasons

I mean even his second year he was breaking playoff records for most sacks taken in a win and that was after some improvements from his rookie year. It was bad and the Bengals were clearly the worst team in the league the prior year. They earned their top pick QB. The Chase comment is the whole point and we agree. When the Bengals drafted Chase plus Higgins had a year under his belt the offense became elite and life was much easier for Burrow. His rookie year was a different story.
-
He definitely seems focused and aware of areas he needs to work on. I even like his comment on first purchase. Smart guy who doesn’t want any distractions.
-
I heard the Saints were going to take him right after us had we not.
-
His rookie year the Bengals didn’t have too much. It was an awful OL that helped him get his ACL injury and a rookie Higgins. He probably had Mixon but again with no OL. One he got Chase and Higgins started developing the offense became elite. I believe that’s what he is referring to. Also he has been a Levis fan since we started talking about this group of QBs.

No one should be looking for the next Mahomes. He is a damn unicorn that landed with an offensive mastermind in Reid. His mental makeup plus arm strength is extremely rare not to mention he does things in the field that a QB should never be coached to do. He just somehow makes it work. Mental makeup is the most important thing for a QB. Burrow, Brees, Manning, Brady etc became HoF QBs with average or below average athletic ability because of their mental makeup. I will say this though. With Young’s brain and our staff, I could see him becoming an upper tier QB in the NFC sooner vs later. Mainly because most of the elite QBs not named Hurts play in the AFC. Also Stroud, AR, and Levis all went to the AFC so life will be harder for them.
-
I wouldn’t be surprised, but if Tannehill is still looking decent and they are in the playoff race (some big ifs), I think he sits. If they look bad and are out of the race I think they go ahead and start working him in. With their OL still being retooled and lack of weapons it might be better for him to sit. Next year they probably flip Henry for some change and add some weapons.
-
Yeah he landed in a nice spot where he can sit a year and develop. He might have a decent career there if they get him some weapons.

I don’t think you keep Cousins and draft someone like Young who is pro ready day 1. I also see where they are wanting to move on from Cook. Those players were probably involved if needed plus who knows…
