  1. https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-final-2021-offensive-line-rankings Finished 8th last year with multiple injuries. Still a top 10, but most of it is run blocking grades.
  2. They traded for a vet QB who is a proven starter because they know Sam isn't the guy. Baker will start this season unless Corral can show he is ready. It's McAdoo's new offense so Darnold has little to no advantage as far as the playbook is concerned.
  3. They have all but given up on Sam. Matt will get more reps as he earns them and now there is no hurry to get him on the field. They would have rushed him out with Sam out there throwing picks.
  4. $5 million and only a conditional 5th?!?!? Who is the world can be upset with that? Great job by our front office. Baker will be our guy until Corral is ready.
  5. Yeah the real Hornets GM is doing SO much better…
  6. Tua did better last year with a worse line. If that’s your excuse, he is a worse Tua at best…
  7. Yep, SEC wants the cash cow football teams. Football brings in the money.
  8. Cut our star player because of his IG music… Another great take by our own “Dr” Lunker!
  9. Nah let him be someone else’s problem. I don’t want to see a domestic abuser on the court because we got him for some discount. Spend that money on a player who actually deserves to be on the court.
  10. I would think pulling their offer makes him a FA right? (Not sure exactly how it works)
  11. I’ve found that when someone has to tell others they are smart, it’s usually not the case…
  12. Herro and Ball get 20 PPG, Simmons gets around 15. I would think with Melo and Simmon’s elite passing there would be some easy baskets for the supporting players. Right now Rozier and Ball need the ball in their hands to score, Herro would provide an off the ball scoring option to help Ball. Right now our best off the ball scorer is Hayward who can’t stay healthy and has a terrible contract. Swapping that for a younger, better, cheaper Herro is a huge advantage. So that leaves Melo controlling the game and becoming a full time PG with a real SG in Herro. That leaves the Simmons for Rozier issue. IMO Rozier doesn’t work with Melo that well so I think getting rid of him helps Melo get better. Get Simmons in the paint with some quick passes and lobs will get him more points as well. Plumlee is a bit of a waste, but hopefully Williams will replace him soon. PJ playing more minutes with 2 elite passers should help him become a better scorer. Rozier AND Hayward are overpaid. If we can shed 2 for 1 in bad contracts then that’s a nice little bonus. The other difference is Rozier and Hayward are at their ceilings. Simmons is a huge question mark still. It’s definitely a gamble, but that’s probably our best shot to build a solid team. We need a nice gamble to payoff. I’m not saying this move makes us elite, but it gives us a young core that should only get better and should make us a playoff team IMO. It also shows Ball we are eager to make moves to build a team around him.
  13. So we ditch two terrible contracts and get Herro (one a good contract) who is a great compliment to Melo with his shooting and one bad contract back in return. Simmons also has MUCH better potential than Rozier and Hayward combined. Even if he doesn’t reach it you swap two bad for one and get a young proven SG in Herro. I still think it’s a good trade. Simmons could play SF/PF with Washington and ball handle when Melo needs a breather. It’s really not a bad trade IMO. I would love to sell a Melo Herro front court!
  14. It’s really not a bad trade because we shed those 2 bad contracts. People are too triggered by Simmons and overlooking the fact we would get Herro as well. Herro is a great young player to develop with Melo and throw in the potential of Simmons who we would probably play at one of the forward spots with Washington. Tell me a starting lineup of Ball, Herro, Simmons, Washington, and Williams (when he is ready) isn’t an upgrade. Kai Jones, Thor, Oubre, Martin, and Harrell/Plumlee are depth. All we would need is a vet backup PG and we would have a competitive solid roster IMO.
  15. Wait? You don’t do it through the rectum?? Asking for a friend…
  16. Good point. He built this defense to stop the pass with investments in the secondary, smaller faster LBs, and Burns/Reddick on the ends. If Brown is the only run stopper then I’m sure he has been overthinking too much and getting frustrated especially considering he is still pretty young. Honestly I’m not very high on Snow as our DC. Maybe Wilks can give some input.
  17. He seems to rank pretty average in run defense, while playing in a defense that was built to defend the pass. https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2022/06/23/pff-2020-draft-panthers-winfield-brown-chinn/ This kind of sums it up for me. Is he worth a top 10 pick so far? Definitely not, but they still have him in the late 1st. PFF claims he improved his run defense last year slightly (really hard to measure). Give him some bigger/better LBs than Carter and Whitehead plus better run support than Burns/Reddick on the outsides and I think he will look solid. Our LBs are still pretty bad, but better than last year and YGM should help our run defense IMO.
  18. He is a 1st round talent IMO. The man was a beast in college and demanded double teams early his rookie year. He definitely took a step back last year, but I think he is in for a good year this season. I mean if teams wanted to run on us last year they had an easy path through Reddick or Burns.
  19. 2 weeks from yesterday it will happen the following day.
  20. YGM development will be huge. Burns, Brown, Ioan, and YGM could be a solid front IF and it is a big IF YGM turns out to be solid. I think getting him minutes vs Reddick plus our LBs have been upgraded slightly should help our run defense. Our pass could be better if Chinn is more of a SS/Box safety and Woods goes to FS. A whole lot of "ifs" I know...
