  1. You don’t think QB is a need? Sam Darnold solved it about as well as Irving solved our LT need.
  2. They had the hardest strength of schedule. I posted plenty of links a few posts above.
  3. It would be an open competition if we draft a QB. If Fields beats out Darnold as a starter then we spent a future 2nd on our backup, but probably have something in Fields. If Darnold wins out, let Fields sit and you have many options. Start Fields later, trade Darnold (if you pick up his 5th) after this year. Let Darnold go in FA and get a nice comp pick or if Darnold looks like the real deal you trade Fields (yeah you wasted a first, but you have your franchise guy for the next decade plus). The position has to be addressed and can’t have a constant revolving door. If our 8th pick helps solve it, then it’s a draft pick well spent.
  4. Could mean they doubt he falls to 8 so they went with a backup plan just in case. I don’t think his Pro Day hurt his stock in any way. It was right there with Wilson’s from what I’ve seen/read.
  5. Yeah some definite cherry picking going on. Fields faced the toughest defenses of any QB in this draft. He didn’t have his top WR some of his line and other starters against these teams. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.buckeyextra.com/amp/3828058001 https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.sportingnews.com/us/amp/ncaa-football/news/ohio-state-covid-list-alabama/1lmo5oskb36ce1qx8ie66s9uvv (yeah that’s 14 players out against the top team) https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.si.com/.amp/college/2020/12/19/ohio-state-inactives-big-ten-championship (22 against NW including his top WR and WR coach) Yeah all teams had to play around this virus but it crushed Ohio St and the had to miss games entirely as a team. Here is a strength of schedule ranking with Ohio St ranked at.... ONE. https://www.teamrankings.com/college-football/ranking/schedule-strength-by-other Now this site ranks the rosters based on recruiting. Ohio St was 5 last year and 14 in 2019. Clemson was 3, and 10 while Alabama was 2 and 1. https://www.google.com/amp/s/athlonsports.com/college-football/ranking-college-footballs-rosters-2020%3famp
  6. I’m torn on this. Seems like he needs more reps to be taken at 8, but his potential is off the charts!
  7. Slater over Sewell? Really? I just like Sewell because I feel like he is such a natural LT.
  8. I agree, but maybe the think the drop off from Slater (Sewell probably won’t be there at 8...) and the round 2 LTs isn’t as big as from Chase/Waddle/Smith and the next tier of WRs. Not saying it’s right, but that could be a thought process...
  9. Any idea/guess as to how our board looks. I’ve heard Pitts is at the top?
  10. Look no further than Fields lighting up Clemson who is on par with OSU for talent. Lance struggled this year against a team with less talent (to be fair it was the only game they played and I’m sure there was some rust).
  11. It’s risk/reward. There is no such thing as a guaranteed franchise player in the draft, no matter how high we are on a prospect. We may feel that no rookie is worth 3 first round picks. Watson before the legal issues maybe, but no unproven rookie. If that player falls to 8, it is much less of a risk than 3 first rounders. Like someone already said, if he struggles we won’t be set back for the next 2 years with a first round pick.
  12. For 3 first round picks? If he falls to us at 8 (not a trade up), it’s too good of an opportunity to pass up. I don’t think he will be there, but if we let a future second round investment keep us from drafting a potential franchise QB I’ll be a little concerned...
  13. 2 years at $7 million is great! It’s up to our coaches to put him in a position in succeed. He has shown he is capable just a year ago.
  14. I mean yeah. Did we really think that next year’s second plus a couple late picks was the absolute cure for our QB position? If a talent falls you take him. If he and Darnold look good, trade one next year for a ransom. It’s too important of a position to simply roll the dice on QB who has struggled and assume we are good.
  15. Trask will be there and no one should take him in the first...
  16. If we want a weapon there is no need to trade up . Four QBs should go before us (maybe 5) that leaves Chase, Smith, Pitts, and Waddle.
  17. It’s all smoke to encourage the Falcons to draft Pitts and pass on Fields.
  18. Fields played Indiana, Northwestern, Clemson, and Alabama with constant games getting moved/cancelled, staff/players getting quarantined and playing through injuries. He is the most battle tested QB out if the major ones we are talking about. I honestly put him right there with Lawrence talent wise plus he is an extremely smart man. Check out Mark Sanchez’s info on his testing, it’s a good read. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/49ers/justin-fields-did-insanely-well-aptitude-test-mark-sanchez-says%3famp He really should be the 1st or 2nd pick. If he some how falls to 8 I hope we pull the trigger.
  19. If we get Pitts, my expectations for Darnold will be higher. Pitts, Moore, Anderson, CMC should be a top offense in this league based on potential...
