He may not be, but he might be effective in a pinch. He deserves a cursory look. -

Chargers vs. Chiefs - Tonight @ 8PM!
Stuart Smith replied to LinvilleGorge's topic in Carolina Panthers
I have been impressed with the broadcast crew for this game. I really did not know what to expect, but I thought they worked well together. I am thoroughly impressed with Cam Newton in his role. I had no idea he was as well spoken as what I saw tonight. -
David Moore might be the most dependable receiver we have after all is said and done. ‘

Well, 14 to 7 now. This will be an interesting 3 minutes to see if Texas can get the ball back and Arch can pull off a miracle.

Hendon Hooker signed to practice squad

He did something right. Player of the year in 2022 in the SEC. They beat Alabama in one of the best college football games ever. -

Hooker player of the year in 2022 in the SEC. That is noteworthy. -

I doubt they tried to develop him. He missed his rookie year. -

Observer Projections / *Updated Panthers Waiver Additions
Stuart Smith replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
I like Hooker. Played HS ball at Greensboro Dudley, won 2 state championships. 3rd round pick by Detroit. He probably would have been drafted higher but a knee injury sidelined him for his rookie year. Player of the year in the SEC in 2022 at Tennessee. It would be nice if he had a chance to show enough to be the back up qb going forward. -
I had thought the Panthers might let him play out his contract this year and hope he stays healthy. If not draft a left tackle and move Ekwonu to right tackle.

There are not 14 over the age of 32 with questionable knees. He has been one of the most dependable consistent lineman in our history. The concern is if he will he hold up 2 more years with the questionable knees.

They might say the same thing. However, the other 31 coaches did not have their practices closed to the fans and then lay an egg on tv.

Team will never be good as long as Tepper owns the team
Stuart Smith replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
Perhaps his biggest mistake was firing Wilkes. What’s done is done, but I want more than anything to believe you are right. -
In fairness to Bryce as bad as the first two possessions were I wish Bryce had been left in for at least another couple of series. Canales should have been aware after that look what the fan reaction should be. It really was pointless to even play him.

Preseason Panthers v Texans official game day thread
Stuart Smith replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Bad when the most impressive player is your punter. -
There were definitely bright spots. Coker, McMillan, and Bryce definitely looked pretty good. The bad: Andy Dalton looked washed up, Brady Christensen looked like a turnstile. The immaturity from Xavier is concerning. I hope we do not have another Jonathan Mingo. The ease with which the Browns ran the ball to the outside was apparent. Defense is the biggest concern that I have.

Cherelus down. We need to be talking about LBs even more

Times will tell. There are differing opinions and always will be about “the trade.” The fact that people in charge finally had a a plan going forward will prove to be the difference, especially if Bryce continues on an upward trajectory.

For those thinking Renfrow isn't making the team...Ha!
Stuart Smith replied to TD alt's topic in Carolina Panthers
Horn is making the team. He will be valuable on special teams as well as a receiver. -
No one is hating on him. It was a legitimate observation and open ended remark in an effort to learn how the kickers were progressing.

Is Matthew Wright the answer as Field Goal and Extra Point kicker? Has Ryan Fitzgerald impressed anyone?

We were on top of most improved teams!!! Go Panthers!!!
Stuart Smith replied to Doc LRB's topic in Carolina Panthers
I hope we are as improved as a lot of fans are hoping. However, this time of year everyone in the league thinks they have improved. It will be interesting.
