Hornets get multiple 2nd round picks as well. Still trash.

Pistons are getting Duren in trade with the Hornets.

How much would you trade for Baker for 1 year rental?
Raleigh PF replied to Cam's New Arm's topic in Carolina Panthers
A 5th and the Browns pay no salary. But they have to take Darnold. Bear in mind, whichever team has Baker at the end of the year will be entitled to a comp pick. Depending on how he plays, that could be worth a 5th or more. -
Picking nits... The report from PFT indicated that a deal involving Darnold was "very unlikely". That's not a "No". Coming from Cleveland, it sounds like any deal including Darnold would have to include more to make the medicine go down. Be happy to toss in Robbie (Robby?) and any OLineman named "Elflein" or "Erving" if they so desire.

Sounds fishy...

Only trade for Baker I would be happy with is one in which Sam Darnold is going the other way. The salaries wash, so it's just my trash for yours. Both teams have incentive to make such a deal. Problem with Baker is, he muddies the water after this year. What happens if he has a decent year? Complication. What if it looks like Corral is not ready? Complication. And don't try to sell me on the idea that Baker would be a mentor for Corral. Please.

I don't have a problem with a good vet signing. The Panthers have plenty of young guys but lack leadership (hint, Shaq ain't it). If it's a short-term deal at a reasonable cost, I'm all for it. Ask yourself this, whose development would he be blocking? YGM maybe? He's the only one I can think of and if Dunlap plays fewer than 40% of the snaps, that's not an issue.
-
Sounds like he plays primarily on passing downs. That's great to have and I'd be happy with the signing, but who do the Panthers have to set the edge?
-
I don't know that Watson is going to play a down for Cleveland this year, if ever. Maybe the smart play for the Browns is to make nice with Baker and hold on to him for insurance. Not like they were going to get any kind of return for him anyhow.

It'd be funny if the Browns eventually traded for Garoppolo.

Reason #459831 why you DON'T have chili before the game.

I would hope Hubbard spent the offseason improving his catching and blocking abilities, but only if he's serious about his career. So many guys are one dimensional which is why they float around the league for a few seasons before disappearing.
-
He has to suit up to be used, right?

I'm sure Drew thought it'd be easy. You know, a Brees.

The Panthers ceiling is 9-8 this year. Their floor is five wins.

2021 Carolina Panther's draft picks
Raleigh PF replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
The Panthers haven't been "development central" since Rhule's been here. I had the same complaint about Rivera. If they weren't already developed, they weren't getting better. Of course, not having good vet leadership didn't help, either. The 2021 draft has talent, but Rhule and his staff fumbled them around so badly, it's no surprise they didn't develop. Let's see what the new staff can accomplish. -
The Panthers D had serious issues trying to stop the run. To date, they haven't made any changes that would lead me to believe that has improved. I still think Chinn is out of place at safety, so they aren't getting what they could from him and the linebacking corps is...meh.

What are the biggest weakenesses on offense and defense?
Raleigh PF replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
QB and LB sure, but there's also a lack of leadership on both sides. -
Corral college tape vs. Darnold college tape
Raleigh PF replied to Wundrbread33's topic in Carolina Panthers
We look at players and judge their physical talents...which is why Tom Brady went in the 6th round and Jake Delhomme went undrafted. There's more to a player than physical gifts and talent. How they develop that talent is the difference between a Tom Brady career and a Sam Darnold career. I just don't think Sam really enjoys playing football, and it shows. Seeing "ghosts" and not being able to quickly go through his progressions has nothing to do with talent, but everything to do with preparation. I can't stand Tom Brady, but you can't say he wasn't dedicated to his sport and incredibly prepared. I'd say the same thing about Jake, too. Let's hope Corral has more of that dedication in him. He certainly has talent. -
Chris Simms top QB is Matt Corral and why you should listen
Raleigh PF replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
At worst, I'd expect Corral to be a decent long-term backup. Considering where he was picked, that's decent value. Anything more is gravy. -
I don't think it's Likely we draft a TE (see what I did there?) Selfish part wants the Panthers to draft Zamir White (from my notorious hometown). Kid is special.
-
I'm happy with the pick. The Panthers have needed to shore up the line for years. However, get ready for eight or even nine in the box all game long. Until the Panthers get a QB, it's a one-dimensional team and that doesn't change with either Mayfield or Garoppolo.

Can't see the logic in the Cardinals doing any trade involving Murray. To do so would be to completely punt the upcoming season. It'd take a helluva haul for that to happen.
