  1. Styles had 100 tackles a year ago. His production was a little less the past year, but OSUs defense is so darn good that they are not on the field a lot. There are a couple of LBs the have high tackle totals on good defenses, but generally, not only do LBs that rack up tackles have to individually good, but typically are on bad defenses. Look at the Pack's Caden Fordam, he's an average/above average LB, but was #2 nationally in tackles. Why? State's defense was bad--couldn't get off the field and RBs routinely got to the second level, thus a ton of tackles.
  2. Sure it does, maybe not every position and not every draft. You have to admit the hit rate goes down the further in the draft you get. Would you more readily find a generational talent at the #2 pick or #19 pick? High picks are considered "busts" if they doesn't pan out, whereas guys drafted later don't have that level of scrutiny upon them. Different expectation levels. If Styles does indeed go #2, I already listed the rarefied air that he would be in. Maybe he doesn't set the League on fire, but my gut feeling is he does. Again, you don't take an off-ball LB #2 if he is just a 'really good' player.
  3. Scuttlebutt form the Combine around the Web suggests Styles just overtook Reese and may go #2 to the Jets. Pure off-ball LB going #2 overall? Seems kinda generational to me. Some see Reese as an Edge, so he kinda made sense being so high. If Styles goes #2, the only other LBs drafted that high since 2000 are Von Miller and Lavar Arrington and both of those guys were generational talents.
  4. Rich Eisen said he's never in his 22-years at the Combine seen a prospect like Sonny Styles. Also Bailey ran a 4.5 flat. So my early two draft crushes are crushing the Combine and are now completely out of the Panthers reach. Bailey might be a top 5 pick now. Styles won't drop past the top 10.
  5. "Making" the playoffs. It felt more like a participation trophy. If the NFL went away from the stupid division winners automatic bid and went strictly by best records (like most sports), the Panthers wouldn't have sniffed the playoffs in that scenario.
  6. Styles. If he lasts until Tampa and they take him, I will be livid.
  7. Downs is a pipe dream, full stop. Styles, lol, I stopped mocking him weeks ago. Faulk, I mocked him some early on, but he too I think will be out of range. KC, MAY be there, but drafting a first round WR again is a bit much. I wouldn't hate it though. We need a true slot.
  8. Cool, now can he play TE? I had zero doubt, he'd dazzle at the combine.
  9. You know how much poo I got for this? It's the same damn record, we just went into the playoffs on a tiebreaker. Yay, we made the playoffs and got bounced while missing out on a generational draft pick! Yippe!!!
  10. Prime athletes that play football are not the same as a great football players. If we wanted a first round TE, last year was the draft to do that. Not that I'm upset about drafting Tet, but we missed the boat on an early TE. He would have been TE3 in last years draft. OL, DL, LB and EDGE all are bigger needs than taking a yoked up project of a TE.
  11. About as bad of an ideas as having Bryce Young playing center.
