Sports writer hearsay. This dude I talked to has connections to one of the Gators biggest boosters. Again, nothing official yet, but it wouldn't shock me one bit if Richardson stays. He's not a top 10 pick. He would be next year unless he just totally regresses and if that's the case then some team dodged a bullet in the first place.

At lot of you guys are high on these super-thin resume`, extremely young (raw), one-year wonders. If we don't get Stroud/Young, I am more than content to trade back and go after some of these other QBs who have better resume`s.

Why? An explanation would be nice. Conversely, what do you have?

I hope Tepper stays out of this. He's so hard up for a franchise QB that bad decisions would be made. I'm not in love with the top of this draft class. There's value later on. Maybe we strike gold there. However, if we miss out on Stround/Young, don't freaking reach!!! There's too much other solid talent in the first round that can make an immediate impact. If it's not our year for a first round QB, then so be, but don't make it worse by reaching on obviously flawed QBs in the money round and hope they magically turn into Mahommes.

The game plan today will be Sam being a game manager. I doubt he pushes the ball down the field much at at. It won't be as drastic as PJ's first start, but I imagine the shots taken beyond 20 yards by Sam could be counted on one hand by the end of the game.

Him and many others. I still think we opt out of QB in round 1 unless we are a top 3 pick. The value for QBs this draft day 2 early day 3. Trade down, take a flyer pick on a QB and sign a decent FA while building the rest of the team. I've been set on this strategy for a while now.

Both Ward and Pennix Jr. are first year transfers. Thin resumes. I wouldn't mind a flyer pick in the in rounds 2nd or 3rd if we don't go QB in round 1.

Probably correct about Stroud, but if it comes down to us and the Texans as landing spots, that very well could change his mind. He's a RSO, so there's no urgency there besides money. Again, it's happened to us before. EVERYONE thought Luck was coming out that year and when it came down to it, he opted to return to school. While Andrew sugar-coated it, everyone knew why. I bet if you could ask Trevor Lawrence if he should have stayed instead of going to the Jags. I bet he has some serious second thoughts. Stroud probably does declare, but I don't think it's a slam dunk decision as you make it seem.

I have a co-worker that's a HUGE, HUGE Gators fan and he says Richardson has been saying behind the scenes he's probably returning next year, though obviously nothing official yet.

I wish him the best now he's no longer OUR head coach. I think he will do okay at Nebraska. Will they be a top 10 team perennially? Probably not, but he'll at least have them getting back to winning records. If that is enough to keep him around for 8 years remains to be seen.

99.9% sure Richardson returns to school. Stroud may as well considering he's looking at us or Houston as his potential teams (*cough* Andrew Luck *cough*) and OSU is 0-2 versus Michigan while he's been there. If it's Young and Levis whereby Houston takes Young #1, TRADE DOWN! We need more picks anyway.

I'm hoping most of these underclassmen QBs go back to school and we trade back.

No worries, I thought you may have been going the sarcastic route, but the post wasn't oozing with ridiculousness enough for me to be completely certain. Anyway, I was wanting to put it out there that any college coaches should be crossed of the list this hiring cycle for the Panthers. So, there's that...you just opened the door if even unintentionally.

Or we could hire another greenhorn HC and duplicate Rhule's results. Rhule may do well with another COLLEGE HC gig, but he's not cut out for the NFL like so many college coaches before him. Back in the day (pre-1990's) there wasn't such a huge divide between college and the NFL in terms of coaching. Now college HCs are brand salesmen, promoters, marketers, recruiters...much more so than top-notch X's and O's guys.

Dick Vermiel too. Heck he took 15 years off between coaching stints.

I listen to sports radio going into work every morning and when this went down, the guys speculated the same thing based off reports...that Ballard and Irsay got more heavily involved as the Colts struggled. Matt Ryan's benching in favor of an unproven dude was almost assuredly not from Frank. It's like they wanted into tank mode--"Seeing what Ehlinger has" so early in the season. That's a move you make once you've been eliminated from the playoffs. Once Frank was fired, and Irsay's best buddy Jeff Saturday was given a job he had zero qualifications for (the guys confirmed they are VERY, VERY TIGHT) Matt Ryan was immediately reinstated. Yes, the Colts struggled this season, but unfortunately Reich slipped up just enough for Irsay to get his buddy the job.

Good thing the Patriots didn't have that same attitude in 2000 about hiring retreads. Remember, Belichick got axed by Cleveland...C-L-E-V-E-L-A-N-D. Granted, Bill took a DC stint between those two jobs, but he was still a retread when he went to the Patriots. Lots of examples of successful retreads. The trick is finding the right one. Conversely, TONS of example of first time HCs busting.

Top of my list.

Mayer falling to the 2nd round would be like finding the winning powerball ticket someone dropped on the sidewalk. I've seen mocks with him cracking the top 10. He's really reaching Greg Olsen territory who I think the Bears selected at #8.

Kincaid seems to be everyone's fall back player if we don't land Mayer and I don't disagree with sentiment at all. WRs and a bookend to Burns seems to be pretty trendy too. I like it.

I get that vibe too. Dude is too laid back to be elite.

A sentence I thought I would never say--I want to see Sam starting at QB this Sunday. Bluhhh...pardon, I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.
