This is the first time I honestly feel the exact same going into this season as I did last season. There we so many unknowns last year and now again so many unknowns. Ya really just go into it not knowing wtf to expect or is going to happen. With Rivera and Fox and Hurney you just kinda knew you were most likely going to be mediocre unless you were mediocre the last 3-4 seasons and lightning was about to strike again.

Not that Hurney wasn’t trash but Fit has been here 7 months. Not being trash isn’t equal to competency. No one he’s drafted or brought in from FA has stepped foot on the field yet for a season. He also has limited cap to worth with. Competency is yet to be determined.

Thing that has always worries me about DJ is he was called out by Smitty one season and miraculously looked much much better afterwards. Actually, I think he was called out twice, forgot what the other instance was. That shouldn’t need to happen and more importantly, there shouldn’t be night and day difference when it does. I get it, some people need motivation…but I’d rather it be intrinsic. I’m not 100% sold that it is. And with a new contract, I can’t help but think motivation will decline. Lord knows this franchise has huge issues with identifying that. But he certainly has the tools. As far as Jackson, something tells me he’s going to want much more than he’s worth.

Well despite what some here want to think of Darnold, and his age, I do not see him as a rookie. He should not need the reps a rookie does, not even close. I find it smart to not play the starters all that much during preseason. In fact, I’d question the need for vets to play in preseason at all. I believe it’s mostly just a way for clubs to make money. Teams can skirmish other teams. Where is the need? For third stranglers battling it out? Fine. Preseason games are just an unnecessary way for a player to get injured (like Cam). Some vets refused to play at all for that reason…Peppers I think it was? If Darnold isn’t ready for the season it wasn’t because he didn’t play a couple drives of a preseason games.

Like we did with Cam in preseason? That turned out well. Didn’t see you saying this then. Curious. No thanks.

Is his last year voidable? I know olineman aren’t cheap but Chris Clark literally rolled off his couch onto the field for 1 million and I doubt we get much more from Erving. Sucks to be on the hook for 10 million and not get poo. Might as well sign cheap trash than expensive trash and least have money for future or somewhere else. I am really hoping Erving proves me wrong.

FYI: The answer was he made 8 out of 11 in 2019 50+. Gano only attempted 1 50+ in this time. The Panthers refused to attempt anything 50+ with him, as said. Probably because he only made 3 of 6 the year prior. 2 of 4 before that and only 1 out of 3 before that. Clearly Gano is awful at 50+. He never even came close his entire career attempting 11 like Slye has and would never make 8 of them. Again as already stated. Gano career: 40-49 86/104 82% 30-39 81/69 85% 50+ 41/25 61% Slye Career: 40-49 19/15 79% 30-39 15/15 100% 50+ 17/9 53% Gano has 5 more seasons than Slye. If we were to compare Ganos first two seasons to Slye’s first two seasons (above). Gano first two years (full seasons): 40-49 25/19 76% 30-39 16/9 56% 50+ 4/9 44% Slye has had a much better first 2 years (full seasons). I also won’t post the stats comparing their worst seasons in their careers, Gano has done much worse. As far as comparing their best seasons, we’ll we kind of already did that, as a disservice to Slye, as that was Gano’s 2017 season (last full season with Panthers) as we have already been comparing Slye to. Now imagine you’re comparing the top paid NFL kicker in the NFL to the lowest paid in the NFL, because you are. Again, Slye may not be the answer, but considering what they cost Gano is horribly ranked. No thanks.

You wanted stats I posted them. You’re understandably sidestepping the whole debate. The statement was made we didn’t attempt long kicks with Gano, you said post stats. Stats were posted that reflected this and now all of a sudden it’s about how many were made. That wasn’t the point you were refuting. So I guess we agree and the new debate is how many were made by Slye, not how many were not attempted with Gano. I already said he had distance and not accuracy. Is there really that big of difference in missing them while having a chance to make them and not attempting them at all because there is no chance? Better field position? Several of those it was win or lose, or in hopeless situations anyways. A few of those were 60+ yards. Are those reasonable to make? Point is, I find it silly to have the top pod kicker and not be able to attempt anything pay 50 yards.

45-50 I can agree with. I should’ve edited my post to 50+ yarders. Field goal attempted 50+ yards for full 16 games: 2017 Gano: 1 2019 Slye: 11 That is a huge difference. That will affect %. Still not a stat that will pull up how many 50 years attempts we bailed on with Gano. Seeing as he has one for a full season, I’d wager quite a bit. # out of # of kicks completely dismisses distance, which I won’t do. I find it relevant. It’s really mute to go back and for with stats. Gano had the accuracy but you can count him out 50 yards out. Slye has the distance to win games but you’re taking a risk on accuracy. Pick your poison, but Slye is paid pennies, and as I said I’d never pay a kicker the most in the NFL and not be able to attempt 50 yard kicks with him.

What stat tells us how many 45-50 yard FG the Panthers passed up on with Gano? From watching the games I can tell you it was more than enough to not be able to justify have one of the highest paid kickers in the nfl.

For a couple whole seasons Gano was out of the questions past the 45, often beyond the 40…while being a top 3 highest paid kicker. Lol Slye may not be the answer but yea, no thank you to Gano.

That’s kind of skewed since he also has been asked to kick ridiculous distances and probably has the highest average distance in the NFL. Slye has one of the strongest legs I have ever seen in my life. All that said it’s bittersweet because his accuracy and crunch time kicks are no bueno. If he could put it all together my god he’d be amazing, and I think that’s why he’s still around, it’s a hope. But reality is, he doesn’t appear to be able to and yea, we should start looking around.

The doom and gloomers win today. But. Let me ask you, at this point, who is more factually validated? We averaged 5.5 wins the last 3 seasons. 5.5. It it were me, I’d be overlooking the sunshine crowd more based on that. And that’s all that is happening. It may be premature but it’s valid. The negativity you’re so tired of is justified. Nothing has been shown to the fans that we are on track, nothing. I continue to keep an open mind but in the end a poor season will really dig deeper into a hole that’s already there. I am more understanding of the negativity because it’s based on facts. But don’t get me wrong, hope is great. Any Panther fan still standing at this point, even the negative nancies have hope. Hope is the staple of being a Panther fan. And when the hope turns to fact, we will see less negative nancies. If we win week one, I hope you come back to calm the sunshine crowd down just the same because that day they will outnumber the nancies, guaranteed, but ultimately one game doesn’t mean much just the same.

Charlotte is a safe city. There is really no area you couldn’t walk through and be fine. It isn’t a large city like that. The ‘shady’ areas though would be pretty much directly west. And directly east until hitting Mint Hill. There are some spotty areas around UNCC but nothing major. None of it is really major. If you’ve navigated around cities like Shitlanta, LA (or really any city in CA sides SF), NYC, Detroit, Portland, Boston, Baltimore, DC, Miami, Las Vegas, etc etc. Charlotte is a cakewalk in every sense of the word.

I mean you have posters saying the season is doomed and posters saying we just had one of the best drafts ever (you seemed to miss pointing out this bunch)…after one preseason game. It works both ways. Both will be posting flaming knee jerk threads early in the season, win or lose. Just the way it is. Reasonable fans will wait until mid season to form any kind of opinion. The only fact at this point is Grier is trash.

Guy comes from the XFL to the Colt’s practice squad and then comes in and immediately beats him out for backup QB…and yet he is still here. It is beyond painfully obvious he does not belong in the NFL. Is there something I’m missing here?

No sense in wasting decent money for 6 games with Okung we could otherwise roll over. LT is going to be garbage per usual until they can actually figure out how to draft one or be willing to bring in a FA who is proven. They haven’t been able to do either for 7 years besides Oher.

Lol Cam is not coming back man. Need to move on, he is not the future in any sense of the word. If this team can’t figure out the goal line with the best RB in the league we have serious issues

i live in the BYU area and saw a jets ballcap for the first time…well ever in my life but for what it’s worth a lot of die hard BYU fans see Wilson as failing big time. thought that was strange. I personally love what the Jets (and Miami) have been doing and their stock in future capital, if they can’t make anything happen with what they have they will take the Browns throne.

Honestly there isn’t that much of a drop off. Zero at some spots.
