  1. yet another effect of Tepper’s clown show …we really don’t know what young players are properly developing, if they even can think about it - legit NFL coaches really haven’t even evaluated, let alone actually helped them yet dear god I hope 5-6 years of losing is the end of the learning curve
  2. Savannah definitely isn’t perfect. Even on the coast I’m not a fan of their beaches. I would rather just drive to the gulf. But it is still affordable although that is changing. And that’s my #1 must haves. My second is driving distance (4-5 hours) to the gulf and Charlotte. Not too many cities fit that criteria. Wilmington and Huntsville, AL were other choices. Huntsville fell through for me and Wilmington is a bit less affordable than Savannah. Other choices were Birmingham, Jacksonville (also becoming less affordable), Pensacola, Tallahassee, crap towns in Louisiana, Atlanta (tired of wasting life on traffic as my job requires me to drive around), Augusta, Montgomery, Houston, Fayetteville AK. And I was looking into KY and VA. Ultimately I felt out of those Savannah was a top choice. Slim Pickens. Jacksonville and Wilmington were really the only choices out of that list for me.
  3. 100%. My home was 630k here for 2000 square feet, .20 acre. I’m eyeballing a 320k house in Savannah 500 more square feet but over 1.5 acres of a well maintained wooded lot. Wilmington came in a very close second for me. It’s a bit more pricey than Savannah (except downtown) but doable. Only reason I didn’t is Savannah is a bit closer to my vacation spots in the gulf but equal distance to Charlotte. Still from what I’ve seen both are great areas to settle down. Austin was another choice they could’ve sent me to and I was like nahhh I’m good lol. Bring me back home where I can afford to live.
  4. Yep. Count me in with you guys. In Salt Lake now but in two weeks I am moving to Savannah GA purely for the costs and being a coast city. Strong economy here and security but unless you’re specifically tech, can’t make it work here. And even that bloated field is going to crumble soon. Either way a nice home in GA will run $350k and that same house here is 750k and for what?
  5. Don’t forget we are a pathetic franchise. 5 years average of <6 wins? In a no sports city with few attractions to the general player demographic… It’s like when you can work at Target but General Dollar be callin. You’re not going without $.
  6. Well, the thing you have to remember is Tepper is an idiot.
  7. So four times in how many years? 30? 40? Longer? All I am saying is playoffs, deep even, seem to be an expectation for some on this forum and the knee jerk threads are annoying. Some of the best QBs of all time, actually most, had garbage first years. And even great HCs had crap first years as well…even if it was just being a HC for a new team.
  8. anyone know how many times a rookie QB and first year HC went to the playoffs? please temper expectations we don’t need fire Reich and Young is a bust hot take threads at any point this year
  9. That’s a blanket statement and points toward an inept front/scouting department not a contract/value problem. Winning franchises have much better numbers. If as a franchise, you’re on the lower % part of whatever makes up that stat, I feel like you’re doomed anyways. Not sure how many winning franchises continually fail at the draft. In other words if you can’t be competent enough to replace Burns like production with four first round picks, your team/franchise probably resembles something like the Browns.
  10. Sounds a lot like AE was told how it was but wanted it sugar coated, not the other way around like he said. He was drafted to sell tickets. So was Will Grier (taken over Crosby). Several other examples too. Hurney absolutely loved the local heroes and JR saw $ per usual. Sometimes I wonder where y’all work at…these family atmospheres that pay you nicely no matter the job you do, always giving you the benefit of the doubt. I’ve never had that in my life and I’ve come to appreciate the more genuine comments and people because of it, even if it lacked tack. No one is void of struggle from loss in this world. Sounds to me like AE simply wasn't good enough.
  11. Brown absolutely was NOT an above average starter from day one lol
  12. It’s not that Burns isn’t worth it or sucks. It’s the CMC scenario. If this franchise is too inept to get someone to put across from him and base everyone around one player he absolutely is worth trading for picks. Not the player, it’s this moronic franchise. Pretty common among the bottom dwellers.
  13. Brown is really overrated on this board. Like really? Williams? Brown isn’t even close to that caliber to even spark a thought it’s similar in any way at all. Last year was the first year he wasn’t worthless and looking lost, and it wasn’t until well in the season either. He looked putrid prior. He has not reached a point where a 10m/yr saavy vet couldn’t easily fill in. His best asset is his youth and potential that’s it. And now he’ll have a new role, arguably much more important role in the new defense. He will need to step it up big time all season long for a contract that y’all are talking about. I really hate the idea of players picked high all of a sudden clicking their contract year. Not saying he can’t be a valuable player but for him to play on Williams level and get a 100m contract in the next two years is not really reality imo…
  14. WTF does God have to do with anything? In fact in case you haven’t been keeping track, some of the most evil people on this planet worship God. Ah, but they’re probably ‘fake’ believers…amiright? Plenty of great people in this world and history don’t share your religion or care about myths. But clearly that’s way past your comprehension level.
  15. I’ve lived all over Texas and it’s more or less a dump. Austin is okay but not worth the price at all, and that’s because it’s prettier and more livable than anywhere else. Still not worth the price and is overcrowded now. Dallas is suburbs, hot as fug with no wildlife or trees. Less character than even CLT. Houston is an overcrowded hot as fug x2 trashy, dirty and extremely ugly city. I’ve lived in each for two years or more and I’d take Charlotte over any. Y’all are fuging crazy. Only good thing is the space in Texas and house prices except Austin where the weather is ok. Also we are not Europe. I wish people would stop talking about ‘wALkABle CiTies’ it doesn’t exist here outside of NYC, parts of San Fran etc and a few small towns like Savannah. And even in those big cities it’s certain spots. It just doesn’t exist and is not how this nations infrastructure works. When people use that as a knock on moving somewhere it blows my mind, y’all trying to what only live in one of those few cities with real walkable downtown areas?? I’ve everywhere and there are only few cities I’d take over Charlotte. Especially after COVID. Cities and costs have turned to poo. I will say these issues are creeping up on Charlotte though. But it has the land for it, long as the planners are smart about it long term. On topic, CLT is not a sports town. And it desperately needs a winning franchise to help it become one. Doesn’t mean it’s a crap city. Want an awesome sport city environment but live in a poo city? Go try Pittsburgh, KC…or Cleveland. I’d rather live in the nicer and cleaner city. Some of y’all really need to get out and experience these and other cities and you’ll see CLTs really only flaw is no identity. Who cares though. That’s nothing compared to blight, trash, crime, depopulation. Want a poo city with culture? Move to Oakland, Harlem, Miami and deal with that poo day to day. No city has it all.
  16. Been saying this. Our fans are really delusional and kind of embarrassing. My buddy says stuff like this every time year 1 when we have a new QB since Delhomme. He’s the type that doesn’t watch games or seasons consistently. Casual, social fan. I mean seriously do people not stop and think when this has ever happened? Has it? Has a rookie qb and first year coach ever gone on a deep playoff run? How about just a rookie qb…when did that happen and how many times? Lord just relax. It’s not happening this year.
  17. Rhule did what any of us would do, take a poo ton of money if the opportunity arose and try our best. Don’t understand why he should be embarrassed. However in the other corner is Tepper who has made a complete ass of himself day 1 and is major cringe from the worst record of all time, hiring Rhule, sticking it to players with turf for money, to hiding like a bitch, to being inept, rock hill fiasco and so forth could go on and on. Yet he is off limits because we are stuck with him I guess? But if there is embarrassment to be had, it’s here and still runs this team. fug that dude.
  18. it’s really funny the team can literally have the worst combined average of >6 wins the past half decade and y’all cry about being disrespected lolol
  19. Going to be a spread ball around offense. Did the best they could this season but it’s not even close to ideal. Weapons and the defense will be a work in progress the next couple of years.
  20. Yes. Casual fans generally tend to think we are going to come in and destroy long standing historical trends and records set and held by past teams with a new head coach and rookie QB because we are unique and special (aka emotions), but in reality that’s not how this works. Literally the only thing I care about this season is Young looking like he belongs in the NFL in some way. Our actual record will mean very little considering history. This team needs time to build.
  21. I mean generally with a rookie QB and new HC there is a pretty historical timeline of around 3 years going back to Manning, Brady even Cam and to what we see now in KC, Buffalo, Cinci etc. All signs point to an average year being a good year 1.
  22. I agree and I think this forum’s expectations are way, way too high. The staff did what they could with the offense this season, so props for that, but it wasn’t ideal. We do have excellent building blocks in a LT (thank god), a premier pass rusher, and hopefully a QB, which is an excellent start to build a team. A CB would be a huge boost/cherry on top but still a ?. Build. That’s the word. Because hopefully when Young is blooming 2-3 years in, most the oline will be of age and with Shaq aging our LBs personal will be terrifying in a bad way. Not to mention Brown needs to poo or get off the pot and there is no offensive threat like Burrow has for example. So the future relies on this FO to bolster/replace the oline and be very keen on what is going on with Brown and Horn. How those two turn out will determine a lot and affect time for success. Get a young offensive weapon. And properly develop Young. In short, I love the recipe’s ingredients thus far but we aren’t ready to have a five star meal yet. People need to be patient. I see a LOT of defensive issues this year and I can see offensive limitations and lots of mistakes on that side. But I do see a line that will hold and allow Young to grow and that’s most important. I see winning 8 or more games as a very good sign.
  23. This site really does need to be updated more. #1 pick in draft and all new coaching staff…I mean that’s pretty big news, despite being a losing team…this is all we have. guess we will make due with Igo’s bi annual ‘hello’ threads.
  24. I got absolutely thrashed on this forum for saying Rhule was trash and should’ve been fired year before last. There are absolutely idiots left here. You know who you are. Actually, you probably don’t. There are some posters here who think literally everything and anything this franchise does is the right move (despite being one of the worst record wise) and anyone who says otherwise they just give poo to.
