Honestly I think Smith just used to kill teams - the smoke route was just the easiest way to get the ball in his hands once the DB started playing 7 yards off (cos he knew he'd be roasted if he played man-up). He's on our Mount Rushmore of Panthers - ridiculously good player.

He was the best Olinemen left on the board at that point - I think they were just relieved to get someone they really liked after trading down so much in the second round. I'd be curious to know if they liked Spencer Brown. Tepper went a bit overboard on his call I think.

How did you manage to sneak into practice and the film room?

Scrappy player with some moxie, but you're doomed as a franchise if he's your guy. He's simply not good enough.

Saints at Panthers - What Saints Fans Are Saying

You can add Miller to that list - in bed with COVID on Sunday, unvaccinated and struggled practicing today. He won't play on Sunday.

I appreciate the commitment to the bit.

At this point you need to change your user name to Trey Smith.

Woah, that's rich. The COACHING staff thinks it's Madden? From the fan base that wants to just plug two rookies into the Oline like it's nothing.

If you see Brady playing 'soccer' in the park with his kids and you don't two foot him are you really an NFL fan?
-
He was impressive in the pre-season against backups. This narrative is mental - you've whipped yourselves up into a frenzy over a 6th round RG. It's baffling. Chinn, Brown, YGM, Pride and Roy all started at points last season. Horn and Marshall have started this with Tremble and Nixon seeing serious minutes. Hell even Franklin and Hartsfield started last year. The best players play. Period. Right now our highly paid, highly experienced HC and Coaching staff don't think Brown is the best guy. They're the ones that see them practice each day!

Well I'm glad the Huddle has found its scapegoat for the season. You were see-sawing between Elflein and Erving, but darn if you haven't been decisive in the last week.

He interviewed with the Jets before Gase got the job - he references it when talking about Darnold. He was due to interview with the Giants the year we hired him, but Tepper didn't let him leave without a contract (altho Rhule called the Giants after that and they wouldn't match the offer Tepper made).

I'd be worried if I was a USC fan. Hasn't coached in college for about 15 years and building a program is much different to coaching in the NFL. He wouldn't be my first look (and I'm looking 'cos Manny Diaz needs to gtfo).

Look at my boy Nixon making plays. Blew past that OG like he wasn't there.
-
He's had two INTS in seven years. Buy a lottery ticket while you're at it.

Where the fug has this narrative come from?!?!?!?!!?

They already evidently didn't have a great deal of trust in him when they punted from the 33. He signed his own release papers when he missed the XP. Shoulda signed Borregales from the Tampa Bay PS.

Maybe they're working out the exchange rate of BitCoin.

This is not a stubborn staff, I think they'll quickly adjust and switch him to SS. Chinn was DROY (miss me with the Young nonsense) when he was playing as a Striker (that's what it's called in the Hurricanes system - a LB / S hybrid). I don't think covering WRs 30 yards downfield is the best use of his talents.

Slater also sat out a year and declined an invite to the Senior Bowl. It is what it is - I'm very happy with the Horn pick. He's a big, physical, fast CB to put on the opposition's big, physical and fast #1 WR. When you're trying to improve your pass defence that's a godsend.

It's the system. Remember every Saints game where Drew Brees 'padded' stats and dinked and dunked his way downfield against us? How frustrating that was and how some fans bitched because he wasn't playing hero ball like our QB so all those TDs didn't count? Yeah, that's what Rhule and Brady are trying to do here. They're drilling into him to play within the system - take what the defence gives you and stop playing hero ball. Use those quick throws to loosen up the deep ball - as we saw with the Anderson TD. Brady was more aggressive at LSU because he had multiple first rounders at the skill positions - so you CAN throw those one on one matchups and win them 90% of the time.

You saw Wilson get sacked 6 times and generally get pummeled, right? For all the hype the talking heads are giving Wilson right now, that isn't sustainable. He'll be broken by midseason if he takes that kind of punishment every game.
